    Being multi wheeled, how does the Boxer deal with transmission windup - ?

      The British Lance version will fit 11 men in it (inc crew) and have 30mm dual feed cannon and a couple of anti tank missiles.

    They should rename it to 'Run away and hide' instead of 'Boxer' - A Boxer has two fist to fight with - this has a pea shooter! Virtually every Russian BMP no matter how old - will just blow this away.

    The Boxer still needs a decent manned/unmanned turret fitted with either a 30mm cannon or a 40mm cannon if its going to be an effective expeditionary armoured vehicle for the British army.

      Isn't that covered with the Ajax?

    • @stephenwhittle6864
      @stephenwhittle6864 13 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +3

      @spikeus3039 Ajax is fitted with a two manned operated insys turret fitted with the CTAI 40MM cannon which was successfully tested on a boxer about 6 years ago. The only problem with the insys turret fitted to the Ajax is that it is designed for reconnaissance. If the Boxer is going to have any IFV role it needs to be equipped ideally with a remote control operated turret for example the KNDS T-40 CTA turret or the Konsberg T-60. This allows more internal space for carrying infantry or equipment.

      @@stephenwhittle6864 Boxer isnt going to be an IFV its going to be an APC atleast for now. There are options to get turrets at a later date as the vehicle in modular. However like Spikeous stated thats what AJAX is for.

      @ashleygoggs5679 why? APCs are very much an obsolete battlefield asset, the only real advantage they offer is costing less. So is this another instance of Britain scalping its military.
      Even looking at Ajax, the number of turreted fighting versions is pathetically low. It does not reassure.

    Interesting. Only problem is - the British army will only be able to afford 5 of these , and along with it`s 3 tanks and in the navy 1 type 23 destroyer - will be able to sally forth and save the day for NATO single handed !

      It’s sad how far our economic frailties have undermined our defence capabilities.

      @@heinkle1 It's the tax-payers that have undermined the military for the last twenty years. There are no votes in Defence because the 'great' British public don't care about it.

    I believe the Russian & Ukrainian troops just use Taxis to get to the 'front' - seems to be cheaper & safer! Britains war mentality is still stuck in the 1940's "I say, chaps, what about these 'tank' thingies - good idea - What!"

    It's complete crap. So loud it's deafening to personnel inside. The off road capability is well below a warrior. Note it has no film of it off road. The project is so over budget and behind. It's a disgrace. Howard Hughs spruce Goose looks more capable.

      Firstly that is AJAX you are talking about and secondly all the kinks have been ironed out on AJAX. I live near catterick and have spoken to some reme lads who worked on the AJAX system and they candidly told me the machine is exactly what it should be now, albeit we should have had it years ago.

      The Boxer has been in service with multiple countries for years and Britain left the program in 2003 only to rejoin in 2018, it's a really successful platform and the modular component is brilliant, you are thinking of Ajax - but what we should take away from your confusion is that Britain shouldn't try and develop systems with no export potential, and in too small numbers - when better, and tested systems already exist - also the MOD should not be allowed to add so many additional requirement and specifications - which has delayed Boxers roll out and pushed up the budget unnecessarily. With such limited resources, the UK should focus on "Good-enough now" rather than "best later" and only develop complex systems in conjunction with other countries (unless there is a realistic prospect of export orders).
