Everyone downranked him because he may not have had the best efficiency or "played the right way" how everyone wanted him to, but he put the work in and earned the right to control his own destiny which he did.

I will never forget when I was in the worst place mentally in my life but I saw his last game, where he dropped 60, and called my dad during to repair our relationship. He was in every big moment of my life and now one day I will get to sit down with my son and say “let me tell you about the man you were named after”. I will always miss him but I’m so glad there is a community that is here where we can talk and share how we feel about this. Thank you Green Gridiron for posting this. Kobe transcended basketball and sports in general. Sports is family and all of you guys are a part of my family when I watch this! I think that’s where the dislikes come from. There are so many others who have sacrificed much more and devoted more to individuals who have never gotten an ounce of recognition.
