Yeah well, They kinda got lost there for a while I think, they were still good songwriters but that alternative rock/metal sound of some of their records I could have done without. I'm glad that they've returned to a more metal sound over the last couple of records. Cheers! 🤘

I have the albums "Cuatro" and "Drift". I got them in the 90's. They did have to take a slight detour, like many others, to survive the grunge onslaught. I looked into buying "No Place For Disgrace", but all I can seem to find is the re-recorded issue. I'll have to look harder to find those first three albums with their original recordings. "Suffer the masses" will always remind me of those last few years spent going to high school way waaaaaaaaay back in the day, lol. Listening to that song gives me a nostalgic vibe every time, it was the end of a truly incredible era as the 80's were coming to a close. The main riff on that track was so fckn HEAVY and I absolutely loved it... couldn't get enough. You could make it even heavier with the right sound system, listening to that one on a car stereo really brought out the low-end without sacrificing the crisp tones on the other side of the spectrum. We've got different tastes when it comes to mixing falsetto with thrash though, it just doesn't seem to mesh that well for me. It definitely has its place, but I've never cared much for falsetto vocals on a thrash track. That style is best suited for the King himself in my humble opinion... King Diamond will always wear that crown in my mind. Great video brother, keep 'em coming! 🤘🏻☠️🤘🏻

Don't have a ranking as I don't own all of their albums, but just like alot of the bands in my collection, my first is usually my favorite. In F&J, for me it's Cuatro. I love the dynamics on it, blending brutal speed and heaviness with the softer, quirkier bits, also kinda cozying up to grunge with a co-write with Chris Cornell (interesting collaboration). Just a great album in my opinion.

Nice video. Doomsday is great, but no place is my favorite, maybe because I heard it first. I saw them live in Boston when they were supporting High. Great show. I haven't heard most of their 90's stuff, but I thought High was ok. Erik AK is awesome and very underrated. I never knew they went back to their thrash sound. I'm going to check out those more recent albums. One thing though......I did not like that re-recording of No Place for Disgrace. I'm not sure what the point of that was. It was just slower and Erik didn't really hit and sustain the high notes. \m/

Hey Man, I really like your taste in thrash and I was wondering if you could make a Video about the best Thrash records released after 2000? Maybe a Top 20, or a Top 10 by the Oldschool Bands and a Top 10 by Bands of the new wave of thrash... I mean, there are not many "great" records that come to my mind, M-16 was pretty good, Power Trips "Nightmare Logic" is great and I liked "The Evolution of Chaos" by Heathen.... something along those lines.
And another question, have you heard of Teutonic Thrashers "Pessimist" ? My friend is the guitarist there, good old War-themed teutonic thrash.. Check out the Song "Landsknecht"

Playing marbles with Yahweh . From the one of the song descriptions of the album When the Storm Comes Down. Even though I am not crazy about When the Storm Comes Down, it remains the only Flotsam and Jetsam that I have ever bought new. I remember that other than Annihilator it was the only album that I have ever seen where not only was a lyric sheet included, but also contained little sections above each song title that sort of gave a history and description to what inspired the songs. I have always had a hard time finding a copy of No Place for Disgrace. Friends would record it for me through the years. Even though overall I would consider both Doomsday For the Deceiver and When the Storm Comes Down to be Heavier than No Place For Disgrace in different ways. I think that NE Terror is definitely not only the Heaviest Flotsam and Jetsam song, but also among the Heaviest songs of all time . It's been years since I've heard When the Storm Comes Down maybe I should listen to it again, I just found a CD of Doomsday For the Deceiver at a Pawn shop last year, it was better than I remember it being. Love Eric AK's Halford style screams , but overall Doomsday is lacking a good mid tempo song. Most of the album is fast and faster

    • @RuthlessMetalYT

@@RuthlessMetalYT I like the debut a lot, I just don't quite enjoy it as much as No Place for Disgrace. I thought that Flotsam and Jetsam should have been huge on the strength of their first 2 albums. I just wish that they would have continued on the same musical path. Probably my all time favorite Thrash Metal band. I prefer NWOBHM style Traditional Metal, but Flotsam and Jetsam, and the Forbidden debut have enough of those elements to enjoy them as much as Axe Witch, Silver Mountain, Gotham City and Saxon. I also like Kreator, Sodom, early Slayer, Exodus and Dark Angel, but I just have to be in the mood for that style .

'High' is definitely my Fave. You ranked 'Unnatural Selection' as worst? Dude, that record is movin! But hey, no one is "right" on what is best and what is shit. Us old school (55yrs) metalheads appreciate the groove Pantera put in the thrash style of metal. Simply, because "thrash" was getting boring and it needed a some different ingredients added. In the 90s many 80s thrash bands were adding ingredients in just to stay in the mix and uggh...stay 'relevant'. Testament, for example, added what they always needed and went better than ever in the 90s but sold less records. Starting with '94 'Low' (Personally, still their best to date) and '97 'Demonic' is just pure brutality and '99 'The Gathering' which has a mix of Low and Demonic is, again, IMO...perfect, despite the decline in sales.
F&J dropped the ball a few times but the groove style they incorporated in a few of the mid 90s records, fits them the best. They were just following the thrash movement of the time, with Dooomsday AND IS NOT their best. It wasn't even close to their "style". Like for example 'Show no Mercy' isn't even close to the same style as 'Reign in Blood' or that 'South of Heaven' or 'Seasons in the Abyss' is to 'Hell Awaits' but its still Slayer. I even love the Diabolus in Musica record(Alot of people don't) because it's just super heavy and intense with Araya belting vocals from the very depths of hell like never before.
These lists are just YOUR OWN personal tastes. It doesn't mean shit to me, or anyone else but, YOU!
Thanks for "informing" us on YOUR favorites anyway. Btw, I would bet dollars to donuts that NOT 1 person ENTIRELY agrees with ANY of your lists. You had fun(and time) which probably made you believe that you were the all seeing "worst to best" critic of metal! It's appreciated, at most!
Siskel & Ebert were wrong 90% of the time on their movie choices and they had a long running 'critics' TV show!
They also believed that their opinions were "GOSPEL" and 100% accurate, that they were the only 2 people that knew anything about good and bad movies but, its all for the ole entertainment purposes now isn't it?
I can say this though....it IS appreciated, at most!
    Cheerz 🍻 🤘

Unnatural Selection is more or less a groove metal album and I don't like that style at all. Thrash never got boring, groove is what was boring from the start. :) Cheers!
