+TheUberGravy Just one more, okay just two turns and i will get Nuclear fusion; Another civ has entered the future; looks at literacy rate India has highest literacy....... FUCKING GANDHI!!!!!!
Sorry to be offtopic but does any of you know of a way to log back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid lost my account password. I love any tricks you can give me
I love how because of some bad coding in Civ 1 Gandhi has remained an asshole for the rest of the series. Apparantly his aggression level was set to 1 in the beginning, but adopting _democracy_ reduced npc aggression by 2, causing underflow. Net result? Gandhi with an aggression of 255. Nukes for all!
KF-Johansson I'm afraid you're mistaken. Aggression levels were from 1 to 256 (actually it was probably from 0 to 255, but you get my point). A decimal levelling system seems extremely convoluted when using a binary system.
255 is a common ceiling in many games (stats in final fantasy/pokemon games, for example). It represents 1 byte (8 bits) of binary "information" so-to-speak. All the unique combinations of 0's and 1's from 00000000 to 11111111. In games where it's used, it's usually because the developer has decided that a value greater than 255 is not really necessary. Since programmers prefer to work in full bytes and rarely use "ugly" groups like 9 or 10 bits, the choice is often between a value of 255 (8 bit) or 65,536 (16 bit) which is, usually, far beyond necessary. You're correct that digital color is displayed in the same way, with 255 values for each, Red, Green and Blue making it 24 bit (true color). Many programs also contain a fourth channel for adjusting gradients, shadows and depth, effectively making it 32 bit.
+matheusgc02 BF4 and other games They coded him so friendly that he's aggressive? lmao Idk I hate it though he's an ass. He begs and begs for Gold and luxury resources and shit and as soon as you say "no" he automatically hates you and when he gets nukes... guess who's number one on his shit list?
+Gregory Hubbard Yes, he is so peaceful he's aggressive. That's actually sort of how he's designed. See, when coding one of the games (don't remember which) they made it so that once you got to a later era, AI's 'aggressive' value would go down a few points. But Gandhi was so low that he actually reset the scale and became hyper aggressive. The devs found the bug, but they thought it was hilarious so they kept it in the game and the following games.
Why are the comments full with such hatred between pc players and console players. We are all players who want to enjoy games, I don't mind what Joe reviews. He mostly reviews stuff that he likes or is hyped for, regardless of the platform. If you have not noticed yet.
Well, I follow Joe since a long time but I only realized it a few videos ago that the community is absolutely awful. I paid more attention to it since the review of Destiny. I love Joe's reviews because he is diverse in what he reviews.
junker154 I meant regarding the consoles vs PC, it's been always a thing and it exploded last gen, it's part of the course, gamers love to argue about wich platform is the best
There are no console gamers nor PC gamers, there are only gamers. To divide it is idiotic and makes the community look childish. If what another person plays effects you to the point that you're angry about it, put down the controller. You are not mature enough to play games without being an idiot about it. As for the review, spot on as always Joe.
Dude I agree totaly I have a pc (for mc and strategie games) and a xbox360 for fps games and i love the both.gamers you must know WE ARE ONE AND WE ARE THE BEST

+theBatBurger Facebook has made humans socially awkward TODAY, in the future we wouldn't even talk, just type comments on social media. " Want to trade some energy ? Fuck you, your alignment is an insult, we declare war "
theBatBurger It's actually already the case IRL. The other day, I've seen 2 persons in the same room (they were together in the waiting room) having a conversation via text messages on the phone to each other. That's the dumbest thing I've seen in a while, humanity is becoming so obsessed with technology that it's losing its capabilities to communicate directly. I guess this game is showing a possible future and not the best one...
2014 will always be known as the year of the over hyped disappointments. Watch dogs, titan fail, destiny, and now this. What a shitty year. I just hope dragon age inquisition and ac unity are good.
And indeed ever since the start of the 8th generation of consoles, with Brokenfailed 4, COD Ghosts, Simcity, Sims 4, Titanfall, Watch Dogs, Destiny and Trials Fusion.
Things I suggest that would make the game more awesome: 1. Have an option that makes players choose to either send their covert ops as agents or diplomats back 2. New Sponsors, I suggest a sponsor that is highly religious like the Holy See but can only have one city like Venice in Civ V 3. New victories, or bring back the old victories from Civ V but slightly different 4. Weapons of Mass Destruction, it's the future, how hard can making a super weapon be? 5. Unique buildings/wonders for each Sponsor 6. More covert operations, make new missions, I suggest a mission called Fabricate Scandal, this allows the player of their choosing to force two nations to go to war with each other 7. Unit quests, I love how the creators added a new lore concerning advance intelligent life, make a quest that allows explorers to conduct expeditions to ancient ruins, after that, they either choose to get a new unit or the other choice the creators would add 8. Bring back the submarines! Snow is very difficult to explore 9. New alien strains 10. Add new Colonists, Ships, Cargo, and Planet options 11. New trade options, allow trading of food, culture(tourism), or production(industry) 12. New diplomatic political features, you can't just say "I'm sorry for spying on you"
Meiji Marts Yeah...I HATED that they removed the nukes. It was pretty much the only fun thing to after you completed your match or went for the domination victory.
I kinda like it. It's not a particularly good satire though, as sometimes Verhoeven is dead serious is some scenes. It's a movie with an identity crisis.
ConfirmedRandom I don't care either way. I watch his stream. He played a board game for hours before playing a video game and it didn't bother me. People were getting pissed though lmao. I think people like to think that youtubers take what they say into consideration.
Hoffman I'm not talking the mini story that is somewhat in all the games. I am talking a story like Haegemonia Legion of Irons did. And still had a massive normal multiplayer games like, Sins of a solar empire. Or even like Age of Wonders.. I play most games by myself and I like story that make the games 10x better.
***** Well we can look at Age of Empires and Empire Earth for that one, they had multiple different campaigns with different nations. In Civ they could choose just some of the more primary nations as who they make the story after. Or if bold enough make a lot of smaller campaigns. It is possible but it will probably not happen, because they didn't do it when they originally started the game, it would take a lot of work plus different employees for that task to make it happen.
Nicholas Hitchner For CIv I prefer the scenario approach. Instead of making a plain "story mode" just add and further specialize more scenarios. Civ is a very historical game and I like how it allows you to play through historical events such as The American Civil War or The Scramble for Africa. Maybe if these were more complex and contained more historical information. For example if there was a scenario using a large Europe map for a WWII scenario where you can play as Winston Churchill, Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini or maybe throw in Roosevelt. And if I could play a scenario like that multiplier then I would certainly say that Civ has a good "story mode".
It is a fact that part of Joe's job is to provide content for his viewers. However, to believe that Joe is here to cater to you, specifically, is a horrible fallacy. You're on TH-cam watching free content, and a lot of you are probably using Adblock, to boot. You have no right to complain.
When he reviews triple A titles: "OMG ur such a casual gamer and u do dis just 4 money blah blah" When he reviews this kind of games: " Don't reviee this nerdy crap go back to the real gamesss". Oh, the internet.
The first expansion was just announced: Rising Tide. Says to include: -Water cities -Reworked diplomacy -4 new factions -New artifact system to collect and combine relics -Hybrid affinities Hopefully it'll do what Gods an Kings did to Civ V and the one after can do what Brave New World did and make it the game it was supposed to be. I still have faith the Fraxis can do it.
Here's an idea, for everyone who whines about the games Joe doesn't have time to review, start up your own channel where you review the ones he misses with the exact same production quality. BTW Nailed the Civ BE review, though you gave the Aliens too much credit IMO. You'd assume that Harmony Affinity would interact differently with the Aliens (The AI will even yell at you for killing them if they're Harmony) but they don't. You can't tame them, the game gives you 0 reason to not just slaughter every alien you see and gain Science from it via the MIlitary Talents. Also, they made a game about exploring space that features only 1 Alien Race basically (insects and a worm) and 1 type of planet. Kinda lame imo. Though yea Covert OPs are super lame. I never got high enough intrigue to do fun stuff even with all the intrigue bonuses and playing as ARC. The only thing I was ever able to do was steal a city and that was once through a like 500 turn game, rest was just like 8 agents stealing energy and science. Trade Routes also super lame, they're overpowered as hell and require the most obnoxious micromanagement, late game I just delete my convoys so they stop annoying me.
Nokturnal Lex On the alien subject, I just let them be. If you get lvl 1 purity, your explorers are left alone, which were the only people in the vicinity of aliens anyway. I just went with supremacy past that, and everything was fine.
themadiuz There's no reason not to kill them though. They clog up the map even if they do ignore you, letting them live gives you no benefit, killing them will get you a little energy from their nests or science from the military perks. As Harmony you build your own aliens, you don't interact with any existing ones which is lame.
When people voice a demand they expand Joe's possible market. If anything, capitalism is catering to demands. Joe should do just that, and make money. Stop denouncing people wanting more of him. Its bad for business.
zeezeebooboo1 How much did you pay for these videos of his? Maybe you should get a refund. He's running an extremely small business here, basically a 2 man operation at best while trying to provide quality reviews. In order to do more reviews he needs more time, if he had more people helping him he'd be able to cover more but it wouldn't be just him reviewing those games.
Joe, If you go back and play Civ5 without the expansions, it makes Beyond Earth look much better. At first I was disappointed too but looking at how much better Brave New World made Civ5, it says good things are coming for BE.
Very true, this is a great foundation for the future. Was some interesting and streamlined features I really ended up enjoying in Beyond Earth. I think too many people were expecting a carbon copy of Alpha Centauri with updated graphics.
My problem with Civ games is that they're a bit like the Sims games, when they're released they are missing features that are in the previous games which were added in expansions. The real thing for me then is just to wait until they release all of the expansions and then buy a GotY edition or a complete edition or a Gold Edition or whatever they decide to call it.
Zemelci Sid Meiers actually responded to that with they have these set ammounts of feautures they will implement in every new game. So they dont go beyond that, and if an expansion has added like 5 new things... the new game will have 5 less still, but they might be a bit different from the previous games, So yes its a bit bad, but the worst is that many of the same issues are still there the bad Ai is one of these.
The one thing that bothered me the most was that troops only get strenght when they level, while in the other you can chose different upgrades and when they get high level they can get pretty good. Adds a little more character to the units. You also had different kinds like battleship>destroyer>submarine>battleship, so you dont just build 1 type of unit. And the chart in the end, why did they even remove that? And trade routes can get annoying late game, oke so 3 things.
Svetoslav Chulev You can still see the chart of your game (Other>Hall of Fame>Replay). Still I agree with you: Idk why they removed that. Not only that, you can't see the world map anymore either. I've played like 8 games since release and I have yet to see the entire map of whatever world I played on.
It would have been cool if they had a couple of indigenous sentient aliens that could work as city states. With varying levels of technology, from spears to laser cannons. And you could trade for alien tech with them. I agree with every pointy you made, and you make great points in all your reviews. But the final score is a bit harsh. I honestly give it 8/10. It needs just a few tweaks and updates to be 9/10 for me.
I disagree that 6/10 is harsh, it means its a good game, above average, it's just not amazing, 8/10 would be right if it was an amazing game with few downsides, which this most definitely isn't.
I think he was judging the game in it's own Firaxis bubble, in which case I would agree that this is simply a 6/10 game compared to the other Civ games. It's solid but not quite "great". However, compared to other games we've seen this year, this is easily an 8/10 for me.
I have recently started playing rome after all the patches. OMG ITS SOOOO GOOOOOODDDD!!!!! Sad it didn't launch this way because I feel that the game is being forgotten when there is alot to offer from it.
Okay guys time for a little race! :p Evolve alpha codes >PC ONLY!!< CODE for PC: Z0654-LEBDN-QXMG5 Z06CN-ABJ73-0M34I Z07G9-4TBTP-5D3GB Z07IK-L8A7F-42E5N None of these are used, I got these for free on my mail so if you didn't check out the game make sure you do! Sorry I don't have more but at least some of you (4) will manage to get in! Enjoy!
4:16 "DONT FOLLOW ME HERE, DONT YOU SEE THIS FLAG?! THIS IS FOR 'MURICA YOU DONT COME OVER HERE FRENCHIES , THIS IS 'MURICA,I WOULD DECLEAR WAR ON YOU!" This.part.was.F###ing.Gold.
You don't get it Joe, have you forgot Civ V? Wait for 2 DLC and then it will be surprisingly good! No seriously, look at this game, you can see 2000 light years afar it's a beta version. They are using us PAYING COSTUMERS to test us, then fix it with DLC. That's pretty much the new official policy: Rome II, Civ V, this...they all do it.
But let me comment on the actual video: Yes, the characters are bland and a little incomplete, I get they are modern very civilized people so you don't see much differences...but you DON'T get them EVEN when they get affinities! Why so many repeated phrases and so little change when his faction choose an Affinity and changes written dialogues and dresses!!!! Joe, I know you are still angry at Destiny...ehm...check the Civilopedia. Apparently there is way more story than the intro, but it sums pretty much in "we fucked Earth pretty bad". Culture is back to being pretty much social policy, and I'm pissed at this. Now I have AFFINITY, why don't combine the two things to personalize even more my colony? It was that hard to for example give and extra bonus for Unity alien hunters or a miasma bonus for Harmony? I have to admit, alien beginnings feel AWESOME! I always check the option for even more aliens, it makes the beginning of the game have that Starship Troopers feeling that it SHOULD have. And yes, Health is officially broken, 10 bucks first DLC fixes it; actually you can go down 1-9 red health without too much worry, just a small yet important penality...go 10 red health, the AI cheats and suddenly James Bonds wreck havoc on your colony. I wish buildings would chance according to your affinity, with Harmony for example have no Health problems at all but having Production and Energy problems, Unity being the most productive ever but have to deal with Health, Supremacy having overload of Energy but problems with Culture...PERSONALIZATION. Nope, obvious choices. Oh Joe, you didn't saw the Purity Levs. The idea of an unit that can levitate over impassable terrain and sea breaks the combat so much, you quickly realize they are the Military type affinity, not the Harmony for sure. Oh, and the side things...those convinced me this is a beta. Intrigue is hard to bring up, and there is a late building that STOPS IT AT 3 AND THERE IS NO SABOTAGE IN GAME. Yeah, this means by the time you get the cool stuff, IT'S USELESS. Also no heroes? no special units? I know musician or artists would not make sense, but really you had no idea what to add there? Nothing at all? And the tech tree IS CONFUSING. They blantly took the idea from Endless space, but while ES had the decency to divide it in 4 category, here techs are everywhere, and sometimes makes not a lot of sense. To get to Purity ultimate, you have to research Nanotechnology...to build GIANT FLOATING BOMBARDAMENT SHIPS, you need Nanotech apparently!!! And who the hell decided you need a tech for colony founding units!?! I can't play any speed lower than "Standard", cuz if you don't get the starting bonus of Pioneering, you have this HUGE disadvantage for 50 turns or more. Oh yes and your counselors are FULLY. GONE. A moment of silence for those 5 great actors of Civ II, still love those 5 guys sooo much, I hoped for at least a CGI return...And no, that stupid computer voice to help you doesn't count, he's a tutorial boring guy I deactivated Turn 2. Wait...what? Joe, the victories are actually really different. Yeah some are stupid, like the promised land one, but they definitely made a change there. They are surely unpolished, but to call them linear is wrong. Yeah, the IA is no challenge at all, and overall, I would give it 5/10. It's a way too early release to cash in, I would have been ok to wait 2015 and get something way more decent, and Firaxis can't do another Civ 5 again and get out with it. The game is fun to play, so it's not 4 or 3, but it cannot fully pass. One funny note, I remember Endless Space and I felt it was an EPIC game with some personalization problems...I feel this game has x10 those problems. Hope Endless Legend solved those.
I thought Joe would point out how they're exploiting us like that, too. He reviewed it like they released it as a complete game when it's obvious they're going to do the same "pay $30 to unlock more things to do with culture" or "$20 for a reskinned version of religion" fucking nonsense
I'm a feminist and his portrayal of a man being an astronaut just shows how oppressed women are, saying that were not strong enough to go to space. I request this video be taken down at once.
You do realise he makes no mention of himself being an astronaut, and no mention or implication about women, right? Also, joe frequentely dresses up (once green screened himself as Lara croft) for thematic purposes, which also serve as an aid to his review. If iOS wears a costume, it generally means he's a fan of a franchise, and is NOT trying to insinuate any derivative social commentary.
I do like how if you win a science victory in Civ 5 it gives you an option to automatically turn this game on and have the shattered colony fight over space in round two.
Come on Joe, where are the reviews? It's been so long since you made a review, stop doing whatever you want and review MY game! Proving that games I like are the best and suffering to go through games I don't to make fun of them is more important then your own life and doing with your own channel and life whatever you want!
You, my little friend, are not important. This video IS a review, in case you didn't see that in the title. Joe does not exist to do what you want, as you aren't that important. You'd think your parent's lack of paying attention to you as a child would have proven that already, but then again I suppose tat denial, as ugly as it is, is the source of your current stupidity. I'm almost sorry for you, but not quite. Get off your little high horse bitch because you are not important and Joe doesn't exist to do what you want. You can sit in the corner like the bitch you are until daddy here tells you otherwise. If you try to do anything else, I'll call your uncle and he'll come molest you and fuck you in the ass like he used to when you were a child.
Not the review I wanted, but hey I'll take it. To be honest I could care less about what game he reviews I subbed to this channel for joe and not the games he chooses to review. I would have unsubbed long ago if it wasn't for that. As long as he reviews a game i'll watch and enjoy it.
"Joe, you're only allowed to do the reviews that I WANT. YOU ARE MY SLAVE JOE, AND YOU SHALL ONLY DO REVIEW VIDEOS YOU LIVE TO ENTERTAIN ME WITH FREE CONTENT! I GAVE YOU A WHOLE CLICK OF A MOUSE AND THIS IS HOW YOU REPAY ME?" That's you, That's how dumb you sound.
Tsuna let me put it in a metaphor: lets say your friend (or somebody else you know) said that he/she would buy you a bunch of cookies but when he/she came back home and you were expecting your gift, he/she said that he/she forgot and will buy it next time but the next time never came and the promise was never fulfilled and so you got angry because he/she didn't keep his/her prommise
Intrigue is broken. It takes 20 turns to do anything (15 with ARC) and it only builds when you successfully complete an operation. So it'll take about 80 turns to build a single cities intrigue to rank four, and if you fail an operation it goes back down. Theres also a building(not sure if its a wonder or not) that makes it impossible for intrigue to reach max level in that city which screws it even more.
That is what I figured to. After I got Civ 5 and the two expansions, one at a time, and after I got X:Com Enemy Unknown and Enemy Within, I learned my lesson and decided to wait until "Civilization Beyond Earth - Complete" (or whatever they decide to call it, comes out, and only after its price drops.
Don't worry, after an expansion or two, Beyond Earth will be a lot better. It was the same case with Civ 5, ok at launch but a lot better with expansions.
***** If you didn't like the base game why the fuck would you pay for more of the same? Same with destiny I refuse to support bungie anymore due to dlc grabs.
I feel Alpha Centauri had way more story into it than this. Even in the intro it said that people joined forces not by nationality but by ideology. So you had distinct leaders, you had all kinds of info in the middle about the planetfall and everything. It gave me goosebumps... Don't get me wrong - civ beyond earth is a good game, but its not a great game.
People he's reviewing a PC game/this game because 1. Joe is MOSTLY a PC gamer. 2. He gets paid to. The big wigs tell him what to review. And it's whatever the biggest game is right now. And this game has the biggest hype right now. Stop complaining about "oh why is it another PC game?" I'm sorry that you can't afford a PC/prefer your consoles. Don't like it? DONT WATCH THE REVIEW. Stop complaining. And be grateful joe is even doing a review. He barely does reviews anymore :( it's like 1 every month. The last one was alien isolation i believe. It takes him a while to make these videos, so I understand
Or he could be reviewing it because, like he said several times throughout the review, that he enjoys these games and wanted to review it. Also, the fuck 'big wigs' you even talking about? He reviews whatever he wants or gets the most votes to review.
He's been pretty consistent about saying how much he loves 4X games and wants to find another good one. Just because someone is compensated for a job doesn't mean they are biased.
when r u gonna do the shadow of mordor review? and btw its sad that all of these big name AAA titles are getting all this attention (good or bad), meanwhile dark souls II is probably game of the year so far and its not even on next gen!!! I feel like next gen has given us nothing but disappointing AAA titles
Dark souls 2 is amazing, but not for the average gamer of course, a lot of people simply dont spend the time to figure out the mechanics and tactics and conclude with ''bad game, too hard'' It's actually easy after you understand HOW to play. You see, there's a difference between playing and knowing how to play, dark souls series is the proof. I've beaten DS2 now at least 3 times with different builds, the hardest one was the third one surprisingly, when i ran through the game dual wielding with basically no armor. Try taking on the three sentinels with only two swords in your hands haha!
Ok, because I am a cheap ass, I have only just played BE for the first time because it was on free weekend on Steam. I have to say, saying it is a glorified mod is selling it massively short. There are some very big positive points that Joe seems to miss out on here like how your ideology makes a MASSIVE affect on your civ (especially units) and random on the spot choices giving you bonuses. I think that this is a very fun game and there are several aspects that I prefer over Civ 5. Maybe this was a dry run to see what people want from a futuristic Civ game and we get a BE 2 that fixes the complaints that people have, but I have to admit... I am glad I didn't play Alpha Centauri meaning I wasn't instantly judging it against anything right off the bat. It seems from most people I have spoke to about this game their main complaint is "it isn't Alpha Centauri". I get the feeling some people didn't even give BE a chance just because of this little fact.
+Veggie Gamer So, you are being critical of a review that was soon after release, 1 whole fucking year after the review and large numbers of patches? lol
***** So, you are saying that literally everything single thing I mentioned in my comment was added after this review was made, including the stuff which can be seen in the original trailers for the game? lol
Veggie Gamer No, but you are being critical of a review of the release of the game and there has been a year of patches. If you wish to be critical of the game at this point, that is one thing, being critical of a review at this late stage is another. I must be clear, I did not buy this game, and that was based off reviews like this one and various let's plays, I still prefer Alpha Centauri to this piece of lazy crap.
Love your reviews Joe. I have a ritual of seeing one in my feed, going out to grab some good food and drink, then relaxing while I watch. Funny, informative, and most importantly fairly reviewed. Thanks for all your content Joe! You and Total Biscuit are the only reviewers I truely trust, over PC gamer, over IGN, etc.
Whats with that animation at 6:33 on the bottom right? It's one of the Tae Kwon Doo twins from 'Garou Mark of the Wolves. Is that a MOD or can you legally have your own animate avatar displayed in this game.
So after playing a few games the complaints about the "quests" are kinda not fair. They aren't "quest" like as a way to alter the game, but it is an option to upgrade the building/tile improvement. So in your 2 games, getting + food may have been your goal, but in other games, you may want that + 1 hammer :) you can make all your cities healthy with a few health building + quests, or you could ignore all health buildings and go culture + tile improvments for health. Which allows those quests to instead of proving + heath, you can select +beakers :)
Nice to see an actual exclusive PC MASTER RACE review that console kids with their gay little gamepads can't have, even if it happened to be a disappointing and bad one in this case.
sulijoo Yes, those. People who do that are insane since keyboard + mouse is superior for everything except 2D platformers. But most importantly, games like Civilization cannot be played on gay little gamepads at all. Keyboard + mouse enables better, deeper game design. Gay little gamepads put pointless limits on what you can do with a game. That's why PC MASTER RACE EXCLUSIVE games are generally far superior to anything available on console.
sulijoo Any PC game that has controller support by the way is not a "superior" PC game as you put it. It's a console game that has been ported to PC. Same shit.
Watch it, it's a GREAT movie. Don't bother with the sequels though. xD They went way down in budget and production values. But the first Starship Troopers is a great movie and well worth watching.
Cal Walker Yeah, i'd suggest waiting for the first expansion. Its a good game, but it is very similar to Civ 5, a lot of Joe's criticisms are true and justified.
There are 2 sequels, the ones where they keep the same things but add more content. Or the ones where where they completely overhaul the game. And gamers fucking complain about both For example, call of duty, they change a few things, "it's the same game" On the other hand, dark souls 2 "It's different it sucks" So, if you make something successful, never make a sequel, ever.
Ok I know this is late but the reason DS2 is disliked is because: 1-Soulmemory 2-Many artifficially difficult situations and bosses. 3-Overpowered Poise
Good review Joe, but you might have done your editing a little lazily (example: when you held your space helmet, then it suddenly disappears out of your hands. lol). Funny that Bungie took Civilization's story-writing style for 'Destiny'. lol :)
I guess, it just happened but I took notice of it immediately and it pulled me out of the review somewhat. It was still a very good and informative review, the kind of which Joe is excellent at.
Joe I'm very sorry for you. You stay up until 5 in the morning to finish a game, you work your ass to edit this, and overall doing so much to get this video out and what do you get? JOE REVIEW THAT NOT THIS, REVIEW THAT. Such ungrateful idiots in the comments
I agree, this seems to be the case with all these immature, self-entitled fans always thinking about what they want without any regard for the person who runs the show and I think that's just absolutely selfish. I mean I see that being the case for Angry Joe fans, Angry Video Game Nerd fans, Totalbiscuit fans, Cryaotic fans (Not so much here but it happens), etc - just ungrateful people all the time and all I can think is 'Dude, what the fuck.'. Every time it happens I'm always having to tell people 'Look numbnuts, this is his fucking show, he does whatever he likes with it so sit back, shut up and enjoy the show.' Of course in kinder words. People love to think they run the show when in reality, they don't.
I'm just glad you slaughtered them all, assuming that's their blood you're covered in. We need less beggars and whiners around here and more on-topic discussions. Speaking of on-topic, I'm surprised he rated this at a six but glad he enjoyed it nonetheless. Yes, it's unfinished, but none of the civilization games were great at start. It's brand new and will likely improve in time with either DLCs, Expansions or Mods. I think I'm enjoying this because of the new style, getting away from the earth-bound limitations on Civ V.
lets give these fake fans a name shall we? give me some suggestions here so its easier to say. On top of that name thing, these so called 'fans' call themselves fans when their JUST A BUNCH WHINY BITCHES WHO ARE FUCKING SELFISH AND HAVE NO RESPECT FOR HUMAN LIFE BUT THEIR OWN PATHETIC ONE! THEY ARE NOT FANS OF ANGRYJOE THEY ARE FANS OF HIS REVIEWS. seriously, this even happens to Linkin Park and some other youtubers.
I'm still playing BNW. My plan is to buy Beyond Earth at some point, but I'm in no rush. Hopefully by the time I get around to it, it will have been patched up and made more interesting. I remember when Civ 5 first came out. I really didn't care for it (I still think Civ 4 was the best of the series). But the expansions definitely made the game more fun.
Phlebas honestly, the base game of Civ 5 is pretty similar to Beyond Earth quality wise. This new DLC that was announced looks great. So hopefully we can get the quality DLC that Civ 5 got and then it'll be everything we had hoped for.
Phlebas i dont understand why so many people love civ 4 i have civ 4 and 5 and i absolutely find civ 4 boring and un fun while civ 5 is awesome and fun
BloodDragon592 Speaking for myself, I felt that Civ 4's diplomacy was a bit more intuitive. I also never really cared for micromanaging my armies - I found Civ 5's 1-unit-per-tile rule a bit too fiddly and tedious. Civ 4's espionage system was far more interesting (though Civ 5 G&K did religion better than Civ 4). I also enjoyed Civ 4's random events and quests - I'm not sure why Civ 5 did away with them. This isn't to say that there are some aspects of Civ 5 that weren't clear improvements. I like that every civ has a unique ability. I like being able to customize my social policies to the degree that I can. I'm glad that they got rid of map-trading. Embarkment is so much better than loading up a transport. And really, Civ 5 Vanilla really did seem far less interesting than Civ 4. Religion and espionage were what made Civ 4 particularly interesting, and Civ 5 Vanilla didn't even address it. So you can understand that going from Civ 4 with all the patches and expansions to Vanilla Civ 5 felt like a major step backwards.
+Phlebas I'd still pick Civ 4 with expansions over Civ 5 with expansions any day... I actually haven't opened Civ 4 in over a year, because whenever I do, I go on a month-long binge :) With Civ 5, that never happens because usually I just get extremely annoyed and bored about a day in. Not really sure if I can quantify why... Civ 5 just feels so much less realistic, less immersive, and incredibly "dumbed down" versus Civ 4. As if it lacks depth. When playing Civ 4, I honestly find myself completely immersed in another world, with entire history books, civilizations, and cultures unfolding in my head. Everything down to people's day to day lives, scenery, etc. With Civ 5, it just feels like a typical "game" with weird rules and ideas that just get into the way of your imagination. Regardless of how I try to spin and justify it in my mind, there is just NO way to rationalize 1-UPT (why is it not possible to place 10,000 more people on this 100 sq km plot of land???), city states (eternally-bound tribes?), and civics (apparently my civilization can only go down one specific path for all 7,000 years). Because of these things (and a plethora of other small ones), I just find it too "shallow" (for the lack of a better word) to be even remotely considered on-par with the other games in the series, and thus I cannot immerse myself into it. Then again, I'm one of those people who plays on Marathon with a massive world map (and/or use mods for an even slower game speed and even more massive maps). If someone is the type of player who plays on small maps with a fast speed, then I can actually see that Civ 5 would be a lot more fun for them.
in civ IV right now im stuck with 3 cities in an island that has a huge babylonian army, and territory, and a smaller ottoman empire, on settler difficulty, ive launched about 5 nukes at the ottoman capitol and theyre still whooping my ass. I lost all my modern armors, and am on the defensive, against two armies. do I just suck at the game
R.I.P Shadow of Mordor Review. R.I.P Assassins Creed Black Flag Review R.I.P Batman Arkham Origins Review R.I.P Infamous Second Son Review R.I.P Dark Souls 2 May your spirits be in Peace as you are the casualties of the fucking lies of Angry Joe Who you have been promised to be reviewed SMFH. #PromoteMoreGames #AngrySheepArmy Will come in 3 2 1....
He might still do a shadow of Mordor review, but yeah the other three are out of the question. He'll probably end up doing a Unity review, maybe even a Rouge review.
Ekhm, you know, that he doesn't owe you anything. It IS his full time job, but he gets more money on twitch. Therefore he must spend more time there. Remember - cleaning house, working with technology, producing reviews, playning games, administrating website every day. That's a lot of work. I myself have for example been writing a fanfiction of sort, that evolved into a freaking book series. I should write it every freaking week, but I can't. I cannot, if I want to make it still fresh. It's the same with Joe. You know Nostalgia Critic? This guy needed almost a year of complete brak from reviews, and even after his return, he is not doing them all the time, one time per week. Creating original content is hard, and Joe is doing it himself. He need more time than earlier, to write decent script, cause he wants it to be good. If I remember, he did rant of Batman Arkham Origins. He doesn't need to do full review. And I'm not defending him as fanboy. I am his fan, as much as I am Critic's fan. I can criticise him for something. But really, IT IS HIS FREAKING JOB. He needs money to pay for bills, house, every new computer game, equipment, and maintaining server. That is a lot of money. The only guy, who has even quality of work, is Linkara. And he reviews comic books, which is much easier to do(they are much cheaper, and he doesn't need to dress up all the time in new suits). If I were him, I would ban guys, who moan all the time. Get a life. Don't take it away from Joe.
My suggestion to Firaxis for trade routes would be to create a menu listing all of the different trade routes, separated by which of your cities have the route, and then in each trade route listing there would be an option such as "Auto renew route" or "Ask me again in XXXX amount of turns", something to perhaps make it changeable, but more automated. Civ V's brave new world trade routes are driving me crazy, and I usually only deal with like 8. At one point I had to do one at every turn, but it was only one route, not 20. Lol.
Uh, Health wasn't that restrictive a mechanic... I mean after 10 health, you're talking 10% less food and culture... even 20% wasn't terrible... and the moment you hit the bottom of the Prosperity tree, Health isn't even an issue anymore... I often finish a game with somewhere between 30-50 positive health and that's usually after setting 8-10 cities... I disagree on the Aliens, thought they were *ok* but not really ground breaking, I do prefer them over barbs, that's for sure. The tech web was amazing it was a huge selling point for me. I also liked espionage in the game too, it needed tweaking but I personally found it more interesting than spies in Civ5. No WMD's might have a lot to do with the "Great Mistake" part of the story... I mean if WMD's destroyed human civilization why would you continue using them on your new home? But more on point, it was more than just missing WMD's. There were just fewer unit types compared to Civ5. Where were the anti-air ground units? The battleships, cruisers, submarines and destroyed? Where were the bombers AND fighters? Where were the gunships or paratroopers? I expected CivBE to at LEAST have all the modern unit types from Civ5 in the game...
Ikr health was only a problem early game then I won in like 80 health the aliens aren't as big threat as everyone says they are the AI was quite challenging and the tech web made things less linear the AI has more purpose then civ 5's AI and can actually do things late game.
I think it's the small things that also pull things down. Why the fuck don't automatic builders react to aliens next to my cities ? They just kept getting killed all the time if I wasn't careful. I also accepted a shitty deal by accident and there was no way to cancel it even though it lasted almost 500 turns.
***** True, though it says alot when something as simple as workers automatically running from aliens isn't implemented. Civilization still has all these annoying small mechanics and AI flaws that need to be fixed, but here they made them worse and stripped half of the good stuff out at the same time.
I'm surprised Joe's never gone back to do reviews he's said prior. I mean you've got Infamous Second Son, and now Shadow of Mordor. Not trying to complain, but even a simple written review on his website (or a Vlog type of review) at least would show to his fans who wanted those games that he made an effort to attempt the review. But, we'll see.
I agree even just sitting down in front of the camera for 15 minutes and maybe not reviewing even but at least discussing the games would be a huge fan service. Additionally, it would remove a prior reason he gave for why he can't review more games based on how intensive his production is.
pmonbob Not everyone thinks every game is good just because some others say it is. And besides, trying to state it as a fact that they're good when there is actually quite a number of people who don't think they are is just plain stupid.
I just picked this up, and I have to say I think just giving the faction leaders more personality and appearance options might have helped a lot (like imagine a war like Harmony leader threatening you with 2 sets of arms and an armored exo-skeleton)
TheDragonfly256 Heh, I remembered in heroes might and magic 3 that I spent about 50% of the time playing the actual game and 50% in the map editor... so good.
TheDragonfly256 You should check out the Kings Bounty series as well if you haven't. It was the inspiration for HoMM and the new entries were a nice take on the genre.
Ok, I don't want to be that guy... Where the hell is shadow of mordor? You've done 2 game reviews but no shadow of mordor? I was patient & thought that since its lengthy it'd take some time, but damn.
He was going to record it but he got sick.He might come back to it if he has time through everything else that's coming out. I really wanted that one too.
He wont do one. Apparently he had finished filming it and all he had left to do is Edit the thing and upload it. Then the next Twitch stream he said he is going to skip it.
Alpha Centauri will remain the best game in civ series for me still... And it works in Win10 still! What programming must have been done for that to work perfectly still... Truly a masterpiece.
civ 5 with all the DLC that being said though, civ BE is basically civ 5 with all the dlc included already, and even improved upon some parts too civ BE vanilla is undoubtedly better than civ 5 vanilla, but civ 5 BNW just has that magic touch of character and atmosphere that sets is apart
Joe doesn't make a review. "YOU SUCK! WE SUBSCRIBED BECAUSE OF YOUR REVIEWS! UNSUBSCRIBING!" Joe reviews a AAA game with average or low scores. "You need to wait for expansions to judge it! You were very bias with the review! I think its good so your rating sucks!" Joe reviews a AAA game with high scores. "Joe is such a fanboy! He jumped on the bandwagon to like this game! The games I played are much better than this! The flaws in this game are present in other games but because I want to hate it, it deserves a lower score!" Poor Joe.
The AI must change a lot from game to game cause I played in the second easiest difficulty and got bang banged by 3 civilizations at once, betrayed by a friendly, got my capital stolen by a coup d'etat twice, got nuked by another civilization on the other side of the map and managed to obtain no pact of cooperation or anyone to help me in war. All this with me playing passively just trying to improve the health level that keep going down at an accelerated rate. Need to raise the difficult level you say?
Wow, that's crazy. I did find it really easy on that difficulty though. There was one very clever instance of the AI that I remember. There was a station that I was trading with and it basically was my only trading partner at the time besides the ACR. Well, the ACR and I didn't really enjoy one anothers company and she decided to attack the station. I managed to cover the choke points and prevent this, but I think the AI was thinking along the lines of attempting to cripple my economy and possibly carry it forward into a full-blown war. Needless to say, I was impressed.
Literally, the first time I played it, I lost my capital to a coup d'etat. I was confused, because I hadn't seen that before, and I realised that the computer really enjoys using spies when you don't have any.
stealthyshiroean I think you are giving to much credit to the AI. My first game was multiplayer on Gemini, because who would have guessed that gemini is hard and we were to lazy to read titorials. So it was a 2 of us team and 3 teams of 2 computers each. We decided to attack one team because they were attacking a station we were trading with, and 10-20 turns later the other 4 computers declared war on us also. They had more army than us at the begining but was realy stupid in controling them so we pushed them back pretty easy. The only "smart" thing i saw them do is using the hovertanks move around my troops and kill a few artilery.
I had a debate with a few of my friends about this game. I got it on steam when it was on sale for like $5, so I'd give it a shot. A lot of what I liked was that early game and the late game super powerful affinity units, it was the mid game that suffered in my eyes. But the tech web and the affinity system made me look at it not as a civ game, but an intro to 4x games. As a civ game, it's kinda crappy, but as a general 4x game, it's good for newer players and a wonderful intro to them especially for the price I got it at. I wish that the developers looked at the tech web and adjusted civ 6 to have a beyond earth 2 style game, keeping the web and early game fun, but keeping everything else for 6 as a kind of add-on to the base game.
so... you believe people should only review good games? If anything reviewing a good game is a waste of time if people are already just going to buy it anyway, reviewers should spend their time reviewing bad games to guide us away from bad purchases.
Ok... To all who are crying "Oh where's this review!" or "Angry joe skipped *Insert game* for this? bulls**t!" I got one thing to say. SHUT THE F**K UP. This is the problem with you people. You people feel entitled and feel that if Angry Joe doesn't review a game YOU want, you immediately flip and go against him. He can't review everything! He is one guy! And considering that we are in Broke-tober, do you REALLY expect to him to review EVERY game when there's about 5 to 6 games coming out at once? And I know you're gonna say "Oh if he stopped doing LPs, he could do more reviews!" First off, he needs to PLAY the games before he reviews them. Second these LPs give us an idea of what the game is like so we can make a decision if it's interesting or not. Third HE'S ONE GUY! Yes I know Other Joe helps him, but a good chunk of the time it's him doing all of this. So if your only gonna be on Angry Joes channel to whine and complain about him not review certain games or various other things of the like, here's what you do. Unsubscribe and move on with your life. Cause otherwise you are just whining like a f**king 12 year old who wants a certain flavored ice-cream. Or you can create your OWN reviewing channel with the same quality, time and effort as Angry Joe. And this is me being BRUTALLY honest.
WH250398 The fact that you liked Alien Isolation aka TH-cam fodder horror game aka avoid killscreen or start at checkpoint indicates that your quality standards for a game are quite low.
flyingspagetti Look, many people say Alien Isolation is a good game, so if you say that it isn't, that would be just your opinion. Please do not push your opinion unto others! :(
I don't get people. Why be a specific kind of gamer? I enjoy playing both my 360 and on my laptop just fine. I plan on getting a ps4 soon. None of them are overall better in any real way to me. Why forcibly insert yourself into a niche in order to feel as though you're somehow superior to other gamers?? I thought gaming was just supposed to be about having a good time. Things change man...
Yeah I've never understood these arguments over what looks better or runs better on what console or pc. As a gamer shouldn't my highest priority be the games themselves? And that means the only thing that matters is what exclusives one wants more if one has to make a choice. I don't care what system they are on only that they are good games.
Why do people who have already played Evil Within want him to review it? You already know what the game is like, so what can you learn from a review you haven't already experienced first hand?
I think it's interesting to see ppl with different opinions than my own, and give solid reasons why they dislike a game I like, or vice versa. Helps give a different perspective.
Well, I guess when people haven't played it, it is nice to see a trusted reviewer give their word on it but in all honesty, it is his channel and he reviews the games he chooses to review and I'm ok with that because his reviews are detailed and entertaining and that's just fine by me. Far too many people moan and whine, telling him to review a game, I'm not one of those people.
The Rising Tide expansion is pretty good right now, better than vanilla. But the whole thing is too damn overpriced considering what you get for a similar (or even lower) price in Civ 5 complete edition. Hopefully the mod community make a major patch similar to the Community Mod Pack for Civ 5. That should add some more excitement and variety to the game.
bluerisk Oddly enough, I never reached 500 turns. Most games finish by turn 380. 450 in larger maps with many civs. I'm not sure about the turn limit tbh
+KrimsonVagus It seem to fix a lot of things I have seen people complain about such as the AI and the uberfocused affinities. Curious how much better it is. Since Civ 5 vanilla was fun, complete and it is a masterpiece. The expansions seem very important in this series.
***** Super Mario 3D World, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart 8, Captain Toad, Super Smash Bros, Bayonetta 2, Windwaker HD Remake, Open World Zelda, and Not to mention all the other exclusives Nintendo is planning on releasing next year. So tell me why those don't qualify as great exclusives already out or to come?
They initially promised a unit workshop and then did not deliver. That was the biggest issue I had. The units get special abilities depending on Affinity, yet a lot of the upgrades are the same regardless of which path (Given the same unit)
LordNick You mean did I spend £100 to get the same mechanics that were in Civ4? No I didn't. Biggest ripoff in gaming history. And hexagons?? WTF! Now there is only 6 directions of movement instead of 8. The maps are ridiculously small. No unit stacking. God awful AI. Graphic glitches. Broken diplomacy. No way to manage happiness. The computer players make units appear out of their arse. Anyone who thinks Civ5 is a better game than Civ4 needs to open their eyes.
Sundaydish1 I didn't say it is better than Civ4 because i've never played it, but the expansion packs in Civ5 are so fucking good, I mean i hate plain Civ5 but i love it with all the content, at least Brave New World
LordNick Brave New World and Gods and Kings are £40, I have to pay the price of a full game to get stuff that should have been in the original game? All the DLC adds up to £78........ 78!! Civ4 is £15 on steam and is 10 times better than Civ5, buy it, play it and delete the crap Civ5.
tbh I can't really have fun with games like civilization unless I have a cheat or hack in place so I can get all the best shit right at the start, whether it's infinite resources or something equally op. I just don't like grinding in any form...or any repetitive action for that matter
557deadpool I'll give you that, for a game to be fun for me it's well-done gameplay mechanics, challenge and a charming art style (Which is something I've always loved about the Devil May Cry games at higher difficulties). Everything else like story, graphics, etc is something I generally don't care about.
Why even bother playing games that have even the slightest form of challenge. Just print out a "u won teh game" certificate and u can even skip using cheats or hacks.
If I remember right, there was an option to start the game with every single tech researched and every late-late game unit available along with late-game resources. No need to cheat for it.
God I know that feeling. "Just one more turn. Just one more turn. Just one more OOH I unlocked Nuclear fission. Just 2 more turns."
Ironic that you unlocked nukes with your profile pic being the fallout guy.
+Zully Moreno we now know who the war monger is here lol
+TheUberGravy LMAO--so true.
+Zully Moreno That's not ironic, that's fitting. It would be ironic if he had a greenpeace symbol.
+TheUberGravy Just one more, okay just two turns and i will get Nuclear fusion; Another civ has entered the future; looks at literacy rate India has highest literacy....... FUCKING GANDHI!!!!!!
Love how Joe gets pissed at Washington for not accepting the deal because he thinks it's an unfair exchange for Joe.
Sorry to be offtopic but does any of you know of a way to log back into an Instagram account??
I was stupid lost my account password. I love any tricks you can give me
@Fabian Allan Instablaster :)
And Washington's causal acceptance of the threat of total annihilation. 'Very well.. Whatever floats your boat buddy.'
+Ze Rubenator He actually got agression level 12 since there was 1-10 and since it couldnt go minus 2 it had to go plus from 10.
KF-Johansson
I'm afraid you're mistaken. Aggression levels were from 1 to 256 (actually it was probably from 0 to 255, but you get my point). A decimal levelling system seems extremely convoluted when using a binary system.
Ze Rubenator Yeah that might actually make sense since color strength also are from 0-255 if I'm not mistaken
Ghandi: AHAHHAHAHAH! NUKES FOR YOU! NUKES FOR YOOOUUU!!! NUKES FOR EVERYONE!!! AHAHAHAHHAAH!!!!!
ghandi
always goes for nukes
wtf
+matheusgc02 BF4 and other games pacifying the shit out of you, duh!
+Gregory Hubbard i think that because he does not develops units
he tries to be the most peacefull
but the nuke is his protection
matheusgc02 BF4 and other games I've gotten my ass handed to me by him time and time again, man is ruthless lol
If you have not noticed yet.
junker154 you must be new here, just sit back and enjoy the trainwreck
Amen to that
Well, I follow Joe since a long time but I only realized it a few videos ago that the community is absolutely awful. I paid more attention to it since the review of Destiny. I love Joe's reviews because he is diverse in what he reviews.
junker154 I meant regarding the consoles vs PC, it's been always a thing and it exploded last gen, it's part of the course, gamers love to argue about wich platform is the best
It's all about people talking down about hardware they don't actually own and haven't even tried.
WAR!
SC..SCIENCE!
WAAR !
SC..SCIEEEENCE!
WA..SC..AAAAAA.EEEEEEENCE...AAAA...SC..AAAAAA.EEEENCE!!! XD
Karl Anthony Adonis HEALTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHY BUILD WHAT YOU CAN TAKE
Karl Anthony Adonis WAAAZAAAAAAA!
+Karl Anthony Adonis
Please don't leave. The Drones need you. They look up to you.
+Polyester Homes Nice nice Reference ye got there.
If I tried to agree with you more, my head would explode.
Dude I agree totaly I have a pc (for mc and strategie games) and a xbox360 for fps games and i love the both.gamers you must know WE ARE ONE AND WE ARE THE BEST
Dude I agree totaly I have a pc (for mc and strategie games) and a xbox360 for fps games and i love the both.gamers you must know WE ARE ONE AND WE ARE THE BEST
Amen
Prime Centry you must be part of the illuminati @_@ ......when are you guys planning on taking the human population down to 500 million?
I think the future nations don't talk cause technology has made humans socially awkward 😂
+theBatBurger Facebook has made humans socially awkward TODAY, in the future we wouldn't even talk, just type comments on social media. " Want to trade some energy ? Fuck you, your alignment is an insult, we declare war "
There would be a nuclear war every couple days bc somebody felt offended...
theBatBurger It's actually already the case IRL.
Dragon Age will be shit. Sorry man :^(
ac unity is downgraded and will be shit too, sorry man
You what wasn't disappointing? Smash bros 4. NINTENDO RULES.
At least bayonetta 2 is good
And indeed ever since the start of the 8th generation of consoles, with Brokenfailed 4, COD Ghosts, Simcity, Sims 4, Titanfall, Watch Dogs, Destiny and Trials Fusion.
23:40 Starship Troopers came out in 199?!
Yeah, I noticed that too. Hard to catch every little detail in editing.
That Roman Empire really was the apex of technological advancements of their time.
Where is that sand worm scene from?
Sielgaudys The original Dune movie.
+Sielgaudys Dune
2:30 Loving the Joe rage in the background
Things I suggest that would make the game more awesome:
1. Have an option that makes players choose to either send their covert ops as agents or diplomats back
2. New Sponsors, I suggest a sponsor that is highly religious like the Holy See but can only have one city like Venice in Civ V
3. New victories, or bring back the old victories from Civ V but slightly different
4. Weapons of Mass Destruction, it's the future, how hard can making a super weapon be?
5. Unique buildings/wonders for each Sponsor
6. More covert operations, make new missions, I suggest a mission called Fabricate Scandal, this allows the player of their choosing to force two nations to go to war with each other
7. Unit quests, I love how the creators added a new lore concerning advance intelligent life, make a quest that allows explorers to conduct expeditions to ancient ruins, after that, they either choose to get a new unit or the other choice the creators would add
8. Bring back the submarines! Snow is very difficult to explore
9. New alien strains
10. Add new Colonists, Ships, Cargo, and Planet options
11. New trade options, allow trading of food, culture(tourism), or production(industry)
12. New diplomatic political features, you can't just say "I'm sorry for spying on you"
Dude, your ideas are awesome. You should work for Firaxis.
Tru dat
Meiji Marts Yeah...I HATED that they removed the nukes. It was pretty much the only fun thing to after you completed your match or went for the domination victory.
Meiji Marts There is a Holy See Mod.
Meiji Marts Dude, you ripped like every fucking idea from Command & Conquer series ...
You could at least give the credit to C&C .
i think i might be the only person that non-sarcastically likes Starship troopers
YOU APE
I am glad I am not the only one.
I kinda like it. It's not a particularly good satire though, as sometimes Verhoeven is dead serious is some scenes. It's a movie with an identity crisis.
Same, I really enjoy the movie for what it is, it IS a good movie with an amazing soundtrack.
Starship Troopers is fantastic
So is this the era when AngryJoe's gotten to the point where his TH-cam viewers just troll his videos lol Seems to happen to every TH-cam personality.
I think it's because he said he was doing reviews on a couple games and he hasn't done them yet
Black Dynamite He said he would TRY to make them if he got the time.
ConfirmedRandom I don't care either way. I watch his stream. He played a board game for hours before playing a video game and it didn't bother me. People were getting pissed though lmao. I think people like to think that youtubers take what they say into consideration.
ConfirmedRandom What's keeping him busy?
There are too many games out at the moment. That's why he skipped shadow of Mordor and several more.
Just one more turn. One more....
I SAID JUST ONE MORE TURN. GIVE ME ONE. I NEED ONE.
I NEEEEEDD ITTTTTTT!!!!
I'll just wait another year or two for Civ VI.
I just hope they add an actual story to the game one of these years.
Nicholas Hitchner I kinda agree like a backstory approach.
I played it. Couldn't get over how different it felt from a normal civ game. I loved 4 and 5 but Beyond Earth wasn't my cup of tea. Still waiting on 6
Cup*
SILTOR CAME I said cup. You probably read it wrong :)
RedTeamReview I'm probably reading it wrong, still says couple* lol
RedTeamReview Nope, you said "couple of tea"
*cup of teA
It is a fact that part of Joe's job is to provide content for his viewers. However, to believe that Joe is here to cater to you, specifically, is a horrible fallacy. You're on TH-cam watching free content, and a lot of you are probably using Adblock, to boot. You have no right to complain.
Sure we do. THIS IS MERICA! Go fuck yourself.
What's the fuss about lol?
When he reviews triple A titles: "OMG ur such a casual gamer and u do dis just 4 money blah blah"
When he reviews this kind of games: " Don't reviee this nerdy crap go back to the real gamesss".
Oh, the internet.
***** i think he is talking about the people leaving posts after Joe's reviews
The angry mob has the strongest voice.
Civ is a AAA title.
albinosnowman12 i never thought about it, but you are right that it is a triple A game! so your comment makes more sense now.
oops.. i guess you weren't the original respondent to this post... but you are right either way!
The first expansion was just announced: Rising Tide.
Says to include:
-Water cities
-Reworked diplomacy
-4 new factions
-New artifact system to collect and combine relics
-Hybrid affinities
Hopefully it'll do what Gods an Kings did to Civ V and the one after can do what Brave New World did and make it the game it was supposed to be.
***** Aww I love you too buddy.
Nokturnal Lex
On the alien subject, I just let them be.
I feel as though they left a lot of room for DLC in the future...sadly.
+1 to comfort Misha
PsyCoCinematics "Yeah, this seems to be a good option...wait? WHAT?!"
Magni56 Oh yeah, massive difference. It's still a bit shystie, but oh well.
BWAHAHAHA..wait this is not funny
Uli Nich Nar Cyniad Mwahahaha~!
And trade routes can get annoying late game,
oke so 3 things.
6:38 the way he said “OR we can star trading with those, AFricans 😒 for energy and scienc-NOPE.” 😂😂
***** Defiantly? What does it defy? xD
And then again, scores don't matter.
Andrei Balan The English language has betrayed me again! (edit time)
I think he was judging the game in it's own Firaxis bubble, in which case I would agree that this is simply a 6/10 game compared to the other Civ games. It's solid but not quite "great".
However, compared to other games we've seen this year, this is easily an 8/10 for me.
Angry Joe should do a review the the Total War: Rome 2 Emperor edition.
No, he should do Middle Earth
***** That would be better
He should do Attilla. Ancient Classical Antique republic empire can go screw itself. I WANT LATE ROMAN GAMES.
Considering that Attila is coming out soon, it would be dumb to review an edition.
I have recently started playing rome after all the patches. OMG ITS SOOOO GOOOOOODDDD!!!!! Sad it didn't launch this way because I feel that the game is being forgotten when there is alot to offer from it.
Okay guys time for a little race! :p

Some people might be confused and might not know to redeem it on steam. xD
Saw some videos and looks like a fun game for people who love strategy!
It's all been used, by the users above, This'll save you 5 mins
Civ 5 is good without dlc...
I thought Joe would point out how they're exploiting us like that, too. He reviewed it like they released it as a complete game when it's obvious they're going to do the same "pay $30 to unlock more things to do with culture" or "$20 for a reskinned version of religion" fucking nonsense
Insanonaga nope, vanilla sucks.
You're telling me expansions IMPROVE games now? Fucking hell, what a horrible world we live in.
I'm a feminist and his portrayal of a man being an astronaut just shows how oppressed women are, saying that were not strong enough to go to space. I request this video be taken down at once.
Shut up little women OR DOGE WILL CRUSH YOU!
Cute Cat You do realise this is a joke, right?
Wat
You do realise he makes no mention of himself being an astronaut, and no mention or implication about women, right? Also, joe frequentely dresses up (once green screened himself as Lara croft) for thematic purposes, which also serve as an aid to his review. If iOS wears a costume, it generally means he's a fan of a franchise, and is NOT trying to insinuate any derivative social commentary.
Holy shit people don't even realize I'm trollinh
I do like how if you win a science victory in Civ 5 it gives you an option to automatically turn this game on and have the shattered colony fight over space in round two.
Remember these videos before Alex? God good times
Come on Joe, where are the reviews? It's been so long since you made a review, stop doing whatever you want and review MY game! Proving that games I like are the best and suffering to go through games I don't to make fun of them is more important then your own life and doing with your own channel and life whatever you want!
Fuck off.
Vinicio Amores Im pretty sure this guy is trolling, as in making fun of people who tell Joe to review what they want and only that.
Shadow07Warrior1989 You got trolled.
Vinicio Amores Your sarcasm detector is broken
Not the review I wanted, but hey I'll take it. To be honest I could care less about what game he reviews I subbed to this channel for joe and not the games he chooses to review. I would have unsubbed long ago if it wasn't for that. As long as he reviews a game i'll watch and enjoy it.
Bullitt Thank the lord, we actually have found an intelligent life form in this comment section!
I must agree this guy is amazing
I second that.
was not expecting to get likes o.o
well said
"i will do a Shadow of Mordor review after Alien,i even have this and that ready,i just need to do this and that and bla bla bla"
Tsuna it bothers me that he says he had the script ready for mordor but STILL didnt do it.
Tsuna Remember kids, to become E-FAMOUS, you become a slave of the internet!
Tsuna Haha, so true. He really sounds like an ass.
This is obviously going to be an 'expand me' game. That being a game that's decent at launch but becomes amazing over time via expansions.
Yup.
***** I was thinking more CIv 5 and Sims. xD
I just wish Firaxis can at least make Civ Beyond Earth better. Civ V was that good. It really is.
Civ 5 was good, but it wasn't great until Brave New World.
That's what you really meant, right?
Steven Perez Yes
Don't worry, after an expansion or two, Beyond Earth will be a lot better. It was the same case with Civ 5, ok at launch but a lot better with expansions.
Civ 5 was great once God and Kings expansion launched.
This game tries to appear as SMAC's successor and fails in almost every aspect. Money grab, nothing more
Uncanny Jackal every game is a money grab.. that's how industry works, kid
Solaxe S still some are works of quality like Endless Legend and others are lazy uninspired reskins, like Civ: BE. Learn the difference, kid.
The one-more-turn phenomenon here is worse than smoking pot.
DrewR420 addiction I’m addicted to pot it really sucks
I don't care I wanna see him pissed off
Or he could be reviewing it because, like he said several times throughout the review, that he enjoys these games and wanted to review it. Also, the fuck 'big wigs' you even talking about? He reviews whatever he wants or gets the most votes to review.
He's been pretty consistent about saying how much he loves 4X games and wants to find another good one. Just because someone is compensated for a job doesn't mean they are biased.
The "big wigs?" What the fuck are you talking about? You know he's independent, right?
doesnt he work for blistering thumbs???
i mean he's on their websites. so im pretty sure he works for them..
when r u gonna do the shadow of mordor review? and btw its sad that all of these big name AAA titles are getting all this attention (good or bad), meanwhile dark souls II is probably game of the year so far and its not even on next gen!!! I feel like next gen has given us nothing but disappointing AAA titles
Oh i am sure arkham knight won't disappoint you.
Drujman Uh, if I were you i'd read what he said again.
TheBKKid718 We'll see his Shadow of Mordor review the same day he'll do the Portal 2 review...
***** Catch any predators lately?
Dark souls 2 is amazing, but not for the average gamer of course, a lot of people simply dont spend the time to figure out the mechanics and tactics and conclude with ''bad game, too hard'' It's actually easy after you understand HOW to play. You see, there's a difference between playing and knowing how to play, dark souls series is the proof. I've beaten DS2 now at least 3 times with different builds, the hardest one was the third one surprisingly, when i ran through the game dual wielding with basically no armor. Try taking on the three sentinels with only two swords in your hands haha!
I can't even get the game to play in 1080p fullscreen and they haven't patched it yet.
Again we meet..
Veggie Gamer Totally agree. Never played AC, and tried BE on the free weekend. I thought it was a really solid continuation of the Civ series.
Veggie Gamer if ur poor just torrent games. i get all my single player games for free
You and Total Biscuit are the only reviewers I truely trust, over PC gamer, over IGN, etc.
oh fuck why did i read the comments? my eyes...my eyeeeeeeees
ikr
"Quick give this person medical attention!"
"Now what was he looking at... Oh God why did I look at the comments... it burns..."
Whining Babies: "Where's the Shadow of Modor review?"
My response: "The same place where your patience is."
Whats with that animation at 6:33 on the bottom right? It's one of the Tae Kwon Doo twins from 'Garou Mark of the Wolves. Is that a MOD or can you legally have your own animate avatar displayed in this game.
Great thanks joe I was just about to go to bed then BOOP! Angry joe uploaded a new video.......Damn you....
Lmao same
so true...
Are you a mind reader?
same here lol i love it though
Yeah seriously haha
This game will be complete in a couple of years after a couple of expansions.
Oh like destiny? Lol
jamesblaket no just like civ 5
jamesblaket If Destiny even lasts 6 months.
jamesblaket And The Sims 4? Lol
cloud154532 I've heard it's been doing more than fine so far, so it could last more than 6 months.
18:00 watching Justice League while playing video games.
Lol. It's his donation Gif. Whenever someone donates batman goes and hugs superman. They ca also leave a message inside the Gif.
Cole Kinghorn
crazy.
So after playing a few games the complaints about the "quests" are kinda not fair.
They aren't "quest" like as a way to alter the game, but it is an option to upgrade the building/tile improvement.
So in your 2 games, getting + food may have been your goal, but in other games, you may want that + 1 hammer :)
you can make all your cities healthy with a few health building + quests, or you could ignore all health buildings and go culture + tile improvments for health. Which allows those quests to instead of proving + heath, you can select +beakers :)
Nice to see an actual exclusive PC MASTER RACE review that console kids with their gay little gamepads can't have, even if it happened to be a disappointing and bad one in this case.
You mean the "gay little game-pads" which many of the "pc master race" use to play their "superior" PC games?
sulijoo Yes, those.
Same shit.
Obvious troll, is obvious.
I think you're a troll, but I still agree with you.
7:58 i never saw starship troopers but that was fukin awesome
I highly recommend it. The 90's had a lot of awesome Sci Fi
Yep Starship Troopers is awesome also Dune is weird but still a cool film.
***** Thinks of 2014 Robocop (shudders) we don't need a P.G. 13 Starship Troopers remake.
Simo lol Starship Troopers direct by Michael Bay *shoots self in head*
Watch it, it's a GREAT movie. Don't bother with the sequels though. xD They went way down in budget and production values. But the first Starship Troopers is a great movie and well worth watching.
"WHERE IS MY WARMONGERING GHANDI!?!?" XD
The only dude on youtube I trust with a game review, nails it every time, cheers Joe, have a fantastic 2016 mate.
i know, the cow
lol XD
I think i may wait and see if this game goes on sale for the winter sale, not too sure if its worth 60 dollars atm
It's 50, not 60. On Steam anyway. Really, i'd wait anyway, I wouldn't say it's worth THAT much either way.
***** my bad, even 50 though is steep for me
Cal Walker Yeah, i'd suggest waiting for the first expansion. Its a good game, but it is very similar to Civ 5, a lot of Joe's criticisms are true and justified.
***** i figure might as well just stick to civ v until i see a sale that brings down the price a bit
***** Nah I wouldn't say that. It has some nice different features that switch things up.
There are 2 sequels, the ones where they keep the same things but add more content. Or the ones where where they completely overhaul the game.
And gamers fucking complain about both
For example, call of duty, they change a few things, "it's the same game"
On the other hand, dark souls 2
"It's different it sucks"
So, if you make something successful, never make a sequel, ever.
Ok I know this is late but the reason DS2 is disliked is because: 1-Soulmemory
2-Many artifficially difficult situations and bosses.
3-Overpowered Poise
Good review Joe, but you might have done your editing a little lazily (example: when you held your space helmet, then it suddenly disappears out of your hands. lol).
Funny that Bungie took Civilization's story-writing style for 'Destiny'. lol :)
That tends to happen with green screens. Costume accessories and other things can quite easily become cut off.
I guess, it just happened but I took notice of it immediately and it pulled me out of the review somewhat. It was still a very good and informative review, the kind of which Joe is excellent at.
It's a review, not a movie. I don't see why it matters as long as his reviews don't become lazy too.
Just saying I noticed it, not that it ruined the review.
Yeah
7:39 That was actually sad ;-;. Also "It's Starship Troopers all over again!" made me lol xD
Joe I'm very sorry for you. You stay up until 5 in the morning to finish a game, you work your ass to edit this, and overall doing so much to get this video out and what do you get? JOE REVIEW THAT NOT THIS, REVIEW THAT. Such ungrateful idiots in the comments
these are the true colors of some angry joe fans
sickens me. In some of his streams he talks about how frustrated he gets with his fake fans just complaining about reviews.
I hope the game gets the polish it needs in time with patches and expansions. Just like CivV.
*****
I have yet to meet a person who paid anywhere near $120 for that DLCs
***** You could've just bought the Complete Edition bundle and saved $99.
*****
Go back and re-read please.
***** OH, I thought that you meant as in getting all of them as once, not one at a time.
***** OK, now I understand.
I wish they were more like Civ 4. That game wasn't exactly straightforward, but playing long enough made it pretty clear.
Dude I been binging on your vids today, and goddamn I look forward to going Thunder! Horse! along to the intro XD
I recommend getting DOSBox and Civ 1. It's free and a nice way to experience Civ's roots.
BloodDragon592
Speaking for myself, I felt that Civ 4's diplomacy was a bit more intuitive.

MOAR REVIEWS JOE!
or ill stuff your eyeballs down ur nostrils eye sware
stop whining! watch?v=EL8e2ujXe8g
Shiiit!…if it’s gonna be that sorta party then I’m gonna stick MY dick in the mash-potata!
***** Exactly. You'd think that the series would keep improving...
He already did that with Shadow of Mordor.
+Kaalo where is it then
We already know those games are good why do we need confirmation from joe???
pmonbob Not everyone thinks every game is good just because some others say it is. And besides, trying to state it as a fact that they're good when there is actually quite a number of people who don't think they are is just plain stupid.
Great review, cant wait for your sunset overdrive review, ive been holding out on buying it
I think you should do it, some of my friends have it already and they love it he gave it a 8,7 but yeah its just his opinion
hes not doing sunset overshit, hes doing cod aw
Dude is the best Xbone exclusive right now, why wouldn't you buy it?
jamesblaket i dont have an xbone yet, i want to know if i should get the bundle
PS4 Gamer i doubt it, he hasnt done a cod review for quite a while
I just picked this up, and I have to say I think just giving the faction leaders more personality and appearance options might have helped a lot (like imagine a war like Harmony leader threatening you with 2 sets of arms and an armored exo-skeleton)
Meanwhile all this game did was make me reainstall good old Heroes of might and magic III... jesus this game is immortal.
***** I just checked this out... looks really good, gonna install it asap
TheDragonfly256 Heh, I remembered in heroes might and magic 3 that I spent about 50% of the time playing the actual game and 50% in the map editor... so good.
TheDragonfly256 Don't forget about HOMM3HD mod also to get the game in whatever resolution you prefer, you can get it here: heroes3hd Have fun bud!
Hopefully he can squeeze a review out before AC Unity or else AC will be the main project for Joe
He was going to record it but he got sick.He might come back to it if he has time through everything else that's coming out. I really wanted that one too.
Read it in Vegeta's voice.
He wont do one. Apparently he had finished filming it and all he had left to do is Edit the thing and upload it. Then the next Twitch stream he said he is going to skip it.
U should check out BulletHardTank ' s review of Mordor. Type BulletHardTank in the searchbox
Where is the fucking Shadow of mordor review that you said you scripted but will upload it after the alien isolation one ??????????????????????
Joe is not your bitch
He said he wasnt gonna do it because he didnt have time to film one
DeOrestes Doesn't have time... haha this is his job. TB has been doing his videos while battling with cancer and chemo...
He said before the alien isolation that the shadow of mordor was a big maybe.
The guy is free to do whatever he wants. He does not have a contractual relationship with you people. Stop acting like he owes you something
Alpha Centauri will remain the best game in civ series for me still... And it works in Win10 still! What programming must have been done for that to work perfectly still... Truly a masterpiece.
Should I get Civ 5 (and all DLC) or Civ: Beyond Earth?
civ 5
civ 5 with all the DLC
that being said though, civ BE is basically civ 5 with all the dlc included already, and even improved upon some parts too
civ BE vanilla is undoubtedly better than civ 5 vanilla, but civ 5 BNW just has that magic touch of character and atmosphere that sets is apart
Get the complete edition of Civ 5. it's a lot better than Civ: beyond earth
If you like science-fiction, buy BE. You will not be disappointed.
I'm a bit late but i will ask you this : Do you want to nuke Ghandi?
Just get Civ 5 with all dlc
Needless to say, I was impressed.
you are just bad, health is unlimited and until -20 not even a slight bother
I think most people agree that when the AI teams up on you, it can definitely be troublesome, but 1v1 with an AI civ is normally laughably easy.
Literally, the first time I played it, I lost my capital to a coup d'etat. I was confused, because I hadn't seen that before, and I realised that the computer really enjoys using spies when you don't have any.
stealthyshiroean
I think you are giving to much credit to the AI.
Beyond Earth mostly just makes me want to take one more turn.. of Civ5.
BE is just too similar, aside from a whole lot that feels missing.
joe reviewing this game was time wasted....evil within
Aditya Jambholkar 100 times better than this crap pc game
Joe is a Civ fan, it's only obvious that he's gonna review this game
so... you believe people should only review good games? If anything reviewing a good game is a waste of time if people are already just going to buy it anyway, reviewers should spend their time reviewing bad games to guide us away from bad purchases.
evil within was aweful though
No. Cvilisation Beyond Earth.
Anyone else notice that on the landing center (a base coming down before it settles on the ground) it says FRXS (Firaxis) the developers of the game?
So far the only new games that weren't dissapointing are South Park and Alien. Everything else, DISSAPOINTING
I hope you mean AAA releases, there have been hundreds of excellent small games since South Park came out.
WH250398 The fact that you liked Alien Isolation aka TH-cam fodder horror game aka avoid killscreen or start at checkpoint indicates that your quality standards for a game are quite low.
flyingspagetti Found the elitist
flyingspagetti Look, many people say Alien Isolation is a good game, so if you say that it isn't, that would be just your opinion. Please do not push your opinion unto others! :(
flyingspagetti talking about the reviews
NO! WE MUST LIMIT OUR ENJOYMENT TO ONLY ONE FORM OF GAMING! Look at this guy, thinking he can actually like more than one platform... Pfffff...
Some of aren't rich enough to have more then one. We want the console we bought to be seen as the best.
I agree with you, play what you want. However PC is technologically better than consoles.
*sigh* -_-
I never agreed with TB closing down the comment section on his channel.
But i'm beginning top see his point....
A little off subject, Joe what movie is that you sampled with the sand warm?
Why do people who have already played Evil Within want him to review it? You already know what the game is like, so what can you learn from a review you haven't already experienced first hand?
Because of people only care about games which have a hype train behind it. Thus, gives Joe more views.
***** TotalBiscuit does as well, though they aren't reviews.
Because Joes reviews are entertaining as fuck
The Rising Tide expansion is pretty good right now, better than vanilla. But the whole thing is too damn overpriced considering what you get for a similar (or even lower) price in Civ 5 complete edition.
Hopefully the mod community make a major patch similar to the Community Mod Pack for Civ 5. That should add some more excitement and variety to the game.
got it for 15 dollers on humble bundle along with the other civ games 4 and 5, not to mention abunch of other games
got it for 15 dollers on humble bundle along with the other civ games 4 and 5, not to mention abunch of other games
+KrimsonVagus Is the 500 turns limit still in place?
bluerisk Oddly enough, I never reached 500 turns.
Long story short 'Ya fucked it up!'
You done fucked it up
You done goofed
where did you get the mod for the the great musician to play rock music. i looked on steam workshop and couldn't find anything
The Complete Civ V pack is $50. This game is also $50. Buy Civ V!
Why does every game released this year feel rushed and cut down?
And x1 exclusives it seems
The wii u itself that got rushed.
T Yoshisaur Munchakoopas The Wii U was rushed, theres no need to defend that. But I'm getting a wii u when theres a good amount of good exclusives.
Jim Major The only thing I see that is interesting is the new zelda and smash bros.
>Joe uploads other videos other than Review
-"Hey Joe, where are the reviews?!?"
>Joe posts a review
"Joe this is a shit review, I'm un subbing"
Lol
They initially promised a unit workshop and then did not deliver. That was the biggest issue I had. The units get special abilities depending on Affinity, yet a lot of the upgrades are the same regardless of which path (Given the same unit)
The difference between civilization V and beyond Earth? Civilization 5 crashes every 5 seconds because my computer doesn't like it
Kosovo is Serbia True
"If it ain't broke don't fix it"? Err Civ5 was Civ4 with EVERYTHING broken! Civ4 is always on my hard drive, Civ5 got deleted.
Have you tried Civ5 with all the expansion packs? It's great!
Sundaydish1 I'll give it a try
tbh I can't really have fun with games like civilization unless I have a cheat or hack in place so I can get all the best shit right at the start, whether it's infinite resources or something equally op. I just don't like grinding in any form...or any repetitive action for that matter
It's never fun when you cheat though because the challenge just gets thrown out of the window, challenge is what makes games fun.
DarkStarAngelo not true, it's FUN that makes a game fun. And anyone can find that fun any way they want.
Does anybody know where the original live-streams from beyond earth are. I couldn’t find any archives anywhere
