Growing up, Thanksgiving was Always @ Grandmom’s and Pop Pop’s. But my parents always had a complete Thanksgiving dinner at home to heat up for Friday. In fact, our turkey would come out the oven on Thanksgiving and Christmas morning and it was some turkey, a little stuffing( or filling as we called it) and scrambled eggs for breakfast. It was a family tradition. Never brought food home, not even dessert (we had that at home too.)Mom was the only one that helped Grandmom with the cooking too.

Patty, there was this person who invited use for Thanksgiving Dinner. Well they also invited their family the roaches. There was so many of them that they took over the table. I was done! My grandson who was eight said, “l know you ain’t thinking we gonna eat after the roaches, you should have invited roach boom I’m out, let’s go!” We all tried to get out the door at the same time. Too funny.
I do my cooking a couple of days ahead of Thanksgiving. I will cook my turkey either the day before on early the day of Thanksgiving. Everything is in the refrigerator and I just warm it up. That way, I’m not stressing. We’re not having company
When I’ve hosted, nobody’s ever brought their own containers. I don’t mind one bit if they don’t contribute anything but still take leftovers. I even purchase sturdier plastic containers from DTree for them to take leftovers. 🙋🏽♀️Good plates(sometimes paper) & canned cranberry sauce.
