Hey Psych2Goers, sorry, we forgot point 2. It is ""2: Gamers Are Better At Multi-Tasking
Multi-Tasking is something we all attempt to do throughout the day… With varying degrees of success. But what if video games could help? A 2013 study tested two groups of people, and found that those who played video games over the span of ten weeks were better at multi-tasking than those who didn’t. Even better - gamers were able to focus on secondary tasks without interfering with primary tasks. So why are gamers better at multi-tasking? Think about it. If you’re playing a first person shooter, you have to track objects, keep an eye on your ammo, and focus on the mission - all at once."

I also think that creative/Sandbox games help express ourselves in ways we never could in the real world, with words.
For example: Once i built a log cabin in the middle of the woods in minecraft, and i used it for the rest of my hardcore world, i found it quite peaceful. I kept improving it, And that was probably what sparked my love of camping.

Here is the thing. I would love to see investigation into the psychological states of actual video games vs esports like Fortnite, Call of Duty, League and any other competitive/co-operative based online multiplayer game.
Literally there is a huge divide between solving puzzles or reading a "choose your own adventure" book vs playing sports type games like basketball.
If we are considering the psychological effects of video games does it make a lot of sense to lump wildly different experiences that stimulate different key centers in the brain and trigger completely different types of psychological responses into one lump sum type of analysis on the subject?

Show your parents this video if they think video games are bad for your health.
But they may ignore everything and make a big deal about 2:40.
    Also,
I play Minecraft, Tuber Simulator (because it's still relevant), Soul Knight, and some strategy and bullet hell games.

My dad got me and my older brother Portal 2 for my birthday, and then Minecraft was something my brother discovered from school. He was begging my mom for days to get it, and when she did, we played for hours. And then we got grounded for not doing our chores...

Video games make people smarter too. First of all, one has to learn how to beat it. And in trying to beat video games, there are all kinds of twists and turns, sudden situations, one has to read stuff and thus one could learn new vocabulary. There's also repetition and yes, there are obstacles in games that help with thinking fast, hand and eye coordination. So, it's helps with driving. It certainly helped me get my CDL. And in playing games, you take in various art forms, color schemes, stories, music, the people's culture who made the game and maybe a friend, and one gets inspiration, gets moral to the story in some games and one gets these things all at the same time and after playing a game, you leave the game knowing a lot of things that you might not have known before.

I used to be anxious when learning to drive a car, so i stopped learning for about a half of a year.
Then I pandemic happens, I spend my life playing GTA San Andreas for nostalgia.
When it's new normal in my country, me and my fam went to beach. My dad insisted me to continue learn to drive. I hop on to the driver seat and I feel familiar with the car controls : turning, shifting gear, brakes, reversing, parking, speeding up. I felt very confident, so when we're about to go home, I was like "Pass me the keys, Dad. I'll show mom how it's done." Aaand my driving anxiety came back when I hit the busy road.

World of Warcraft. I play it for the community first and foremost, but I found that it has taught some skills I was not aware of. For example, one time me and my mother got lost, she had a map but had no idea how to navigate it and easily forgot where we walked from. I took one look at the map and knew where to go instantly and kept her from walking us in circles. I attribute this to WoW maps and dungeons where you're forced to memorize efficient paths to avoid danger :)
