Aww man this sucks :( Keep pushing! You may recall I commented on your valve body repair on the X5, being a ZF rebuilder I was impressed at how meticulous you was! One thing I'd note about the ZF5/6/7/8 range...they all have valve bodies incredibly close to the filler plug, which can deceive some people by making them appear "full" when it's actually just being bounced off the valve body whilst being pumped in. I'd reccomend using a fluid pump with an angled bend to fill it, and do so VERY slowly. Another great addition for the ZF range is Lubegaurd Anti shudder fix....That particular ZF range suffers with torque converter judder, so we apply the additive to every surface we do (of which we do A LOT 😅). We aren't fans of "snake oil" additives, but I have to say we've been using the anti shudder for decades now and it really is incredible stuff. It helps PREVENT the common TC shudder but has also helped cure customers cars that are already suffering with the shudder. It's very good stuff.

Yeah, I was wondering what's going on when there was still brake dust on the calipers when he installed the new pads. I get it though, sometimes you just want shit to be done.
It has nothing to do with Sreten or any other mechanic. It's just that they are garbage. This is basically the cheapest expensive car you can get from its generation - made for cheap, priced high. There's even talk that the engines are main line discards from the main brand - tho that's with a pinch of salt only based on a few pictures of broken castings from the factory on new cars.
M539 and Mat Armstrong should never be seen in the same sentence. Streten is a multi-talented, clever, entertaining and all-round likeable guy, whereas Mat Armstrong is a total. . . . . . . . . er.
So sad. All that work you put in. I feel for you, yes, first thought was an “Alpina Deja vu”. Don’t know of anyone else who would have taken on that challenge with these Maserati. So I have so much respect for you. Keep looking forward and stay strong.

@barchilandia Nein, that's the previous generation of the Quattroporte, the current M156 GTS only has one filter option. Roger is probably right, it's unbelievable how quickly it went, but I'm still investigating.

What do you expect from a highly kilometrage sport engine that had probably been mismanaged for a long time? If this car received the same care (but that would have been exceptionally expensive, I suppose) of other BMW restored by Sreten, probably it would have run quite well. The only criticism I would have is Maserati not making readily available parts, which is a shame.
Oh yes, it’s obviously an italian fault…please note and keep in mind that that engine has a lot of miles on his back and that HAS NOT BEEN OPENED for further inspection. You cannot know what’s going on inside an engine that old. So please stop throwing shit on italian engines and, in general, on italian cars.
Sheiß eee. Thats a lot of stress for sure. After 1 min of google i found at least visually the same engine for QP GTS for 11000 $. May i suggest, if every patreon of the 2345 just sent 5 $ to Sreten, we could at least take some of the financial pressure out of the equation for Sreten in this, lets be honest, very time consuming and expensive project as it was/is from the beginning of the journey out of the known BMW world. If you are with me, like the comment and show some love for our very best BMW restorer out there now. i am really hoping for at least 2345 likes 👍
If there is any silver lining to this, it's that at least this issue occurred now and not when you were selling to someone or even in their ownership as this would spell a bigger headache. Further, at least the issue is very apparent. Sometimes life kicks us down or in this instance it stabs a trident in you but its how we come back from it. I've been having my own battles with my Peugeot 208 GTI and lets say its less fun all the way out here in Australian. Gotta love how things are only built to last 10 years before they start to blow up. Chin up Streten, we all have your back.
That has to be incredibly demoralizing, even for a person with a super-positive attitude like you. However this isn't the first time bad fortune has come your way, so keep fighting! I'll sure be tuning in to see how this one gets resolved!
Interesting about the CoC. I imported a 330d from U.K. to Germany and the CoC was free. I just wrote to BMW UK and it was sent about a week later. Just done the same with a Ford Focus about a month ago - emailed Ford UK Homoligation department and it arrived 3 working days later. 3rd party firms wanted €200+.

Oh man, that hit me right in the feels. I know that sinking feeling without spending anything near the time, effort and money you put into this car.
This channel and Mat Armstrong are the best on TH-cam 😎
Mat Armstrong is bit too chav for my taste
M539 and Mat Armstrong should never be seen in the same sentence. Streten is a multi-talented, clever, entertaining and all-round likeable guy, whereas Mat Armstrong is a total. . . . . . . . . er.
@@bobfrankish8883 I enjoy both equally
So sad. All that work you put in.
I feel for you, yes, first thought was an “Alpina Deja vu”.
Don’t know of anyone else who would have taken on that challenge with these Maserati. So I have so much respect for you.
Keep looking forward and stay strong.
This car must have had oil pressure issues before the auction, can't believe it would just go on the very first power run after a complete service.
i think it was an oil filter related, easy to mix up since this engine has to variants of the same Oil Filter. This video explains it better th-cam.com/video/-p0SDwst1Fc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=VRN3ZAiKKWWQPEWc
@barchilandia Nein, that's the previous generation of the Quattroporte, the current M156 GTS only has one filter option. Roger is probably right, it's unbelievable how quickly it went, but I'm still investigating.
I hope that your brand new rebuild turbos did not grenade themselves due to lack of lubrication. Apart from the knocking sound, I'm hearing a sound that I will associate with an impeller rubbing against the casing. When you find out, maybe give us a spoiler before the next video on what has gone wrong. Best of luck!
@@vladulescuadrian6080 That's rodknock bro
@@MrProSwe Dude he literally said "APART from the knocking sound". Can't you read the whole sentance? Yes this clearly sounds like rodknock, but theres an another sound besides that, which I can hear too.
Similar to the Alpina B7. Lots of troubles but at the end a perfect car emerged. Keep going, do not lose hope and you will be victorious
Auto Brands other then BMW are not kind to you my friend.
At least you didn't sold it already and Ruined you're reputation!!!
Hope you get lots of new patreon as for today the first beer is on me Sreten!
🍺🍻
That steeringwheel refurb though! Maaan!
The curse of project Chicago strikes again, this time in Italian
Man I really love your videos and the effort you put in each one of them. The last episode was so nice when you've fixed everything and all seemed alright given the car and its history. The pain of owning an italian car is real but the driving experience is still worth it imho, best regards from an Alfa Romeo owner 😆Stay strong!! 🍀🇮🇹
Genuine spaghett moment
not so much unknown to you german car fans too... Toyota fan here!😎
@@YszapHun I drive an italian
@@goxy287 my sincere condolences
That sound at the end of the video ...goosebumps😱
You can tell Sreten really wasn't into this project because he didn't clean everything the way he normally does.
The 'even later' was a nice touch, thanks for putting a bit of Dutch in the video Sreten! 😉
Sounds like rod bearings?
I thought so too. Dirty oil contamination maybe as someone suggest Filters Mixed Up?
16:30 what a beautiful Saab 900, you should buy one of those mr. Sreten.🙈🙃
Just another episode showing italian cars being italian cars
LOL, especially this Italian POS. Here we thought the Alpina was bad, boy were we wrong. 😂😂
They are just junk
@@sergio_81 Alfa Romeo did good cars till early 80s, then they started making junk as well. The new 2015 -> Giulia is good or so I have heard.
Yup. True that.
A beemer with a comparable engine would grenade itself at half the mileage.
Bruuutal! Looking forward to the tear down and finding EXACTLY what went wrong.
Damn you Italy 🇮🇹
Ikr 😂
Damn you Dodge
Oh yes, it’s obviously an italian fault…please note and keep in mind that that engine has a lot of miles on his back and that HAS NOT BEEN OPENED for further inspection.
You cannot know what’s going on inside an engine that old. So please stop throwing shit on italian engines and, in general, on italian cars.
You were so thorough with everything! I hate how it's giving you issues especially a major one like oil pressure!
Don' t worry my brother, this month is cursed.......same thing happend to me after major engine job......i dig that look on you face.
I really looked forward to the Maserati project, but by looking at the videos you hate working on it. Maybe better to step away from this one.
I don't, I was actually enjoying learning something new and was thrilled on the first drive which you'll see in the next episode. :)
Please release part 2 tomorrow, the cliff hanger is too great 😂
I only can send you good vibrations because this engine has a bad sound.
Hope you can fix It, never surrender for a problem.
Good luck
I mean. Those cars are pretty but they are kinda garbage 🤣 like even getting them road ready is such a hassle. So Italian...
I would eat myself up in this situation, Sreten good luck finding an new engine for this piece of art
Fingers crossed and good luck with that project!
Mucho ánimo compañerooo!!!! Verás como lo solucionas como siempre haces. Abrazos desde España.
That is heart wrenching. My condolences
Never nice to see videos like this, especially to such a nice bloke who's a conscientious worker. Fingers crossed that you get it sorted...eventually!
It is times like this that Sretan shows his Main Character quality. You can do it, Sretan.
That death rattle at the end from the engine had my face in my hands...🤞🤞 Hope you get it all sorted mate, loving the Channel.
Bwaaahh what a heartbreaking ending! Best wishes for the project
I’m accustomed to the BMW content which is most informative and entertaining. The Maserati videos are fantastic though, thank you for the good stuff.
Sorry about that motor too.
Fuerza pibe no aflojes!
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!
Sorry brother but your loss is my pure joy entertainment!
Best of luck!
Esso no Bueno!!! We were all looking for the happy ending of the MAS going full throttle on the Bahn...at least you will have more content :)
"failure" episodes are the BEST, you will preveal ! and Maserati come on, reach out like Alpina did, che vogliamo essere da meno? forza, facciamo bella figura!
So nice to see you doing other brands than just BMW :)
Oh nooooooo 😔 so sorry. Don't give up, this beautiful car deserves your love🤞
Oh mannnnnn, that's a bummer after such a project Sreten!!
My respect for you and your work
Can you give me a advice with my f30 2.0 d n47 when I go on rods the speed decrease for a second or two I will put a link for a video

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear about your loss.
Oh no...oh no no knockedy no.
You poor bastard. All that time and effort...Lord knows we've all been there. Always enjoyable watching the Stretmeister work on a car, regardless of the outcome.
@16:29 That SAAB 900 Cabrio tho 🤌
Together with SAAB 9000❤
It's all part of Italian car ownership, everyone should experience it. I got mine out of the way years ago.
Hey Sreten I'm writing this from Freebirds that * is awesome man thanks for the recommendation!!! ❤ Love your content!!!
Hahah, awesome!
Cheer up mate, with your knowledge you will definitely bring this bad girl up. Honestly, knowing that that engine had more than 300k kilometers had me twisting my nose since from the start of this trip, I can’t say it was obvious but you foreshadowing this happening and the almost ended engine got me feeling that this would happen very quickly. Hope to see more soon!
he says: "...and the torque _SPECULATION_ is..."
HA HA HA HA HA that's a great pun I use myself.
I admire how excellent your English is, Sreten; and keep up the good work, eh!
Fantastic car - I have a 2013 GTS… the fuel cap in the left side is a smart move by Maserati - all the refilling you’re going to do - you don’t need to run to the other side …
A Ferrari on a budget can be a nightmare!!!! I love the channel, good luck to you sir!!!
Looks like a project that will have more episodes than it should :) Fingers crossed for nice, quick, cheap solution and cheers from Czech Republic. ;)
YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! On the other hand, taking on an Italian car like this really is an extreme sport :D
