    The black mamba is endemic to Sub-Saharan Africa and it prefers to rest during night time in a permanent lair such as an abandoned burrow or a termite mound. Mambas are diurnal ambush predators, hunting for food during daytime. They are known to be unpredictable but prefer to avoid any unnecessary confrontation if possible. Even with the lion gone, the snake remains alert, carefully observing its surroundings before leaving the safety of its lair.
    Black mambas have relative short fangs located in front of their mouth. Its neurotoxic venom is less viscous than any know snake venom, making it extremely fast acting indeed.
    Some black mamba victims reported, that they were not even aware of being bitten but felt its symptoms within twenty minutes. This was also the case with Nathan Layton, a student at the Southern African Wildlife College, where he help capturing an escaped black mamba.
    Nathan didn’t realized being bitten at all and returned to his classroom where he collapsed twenty minutes after the incident and was pronounced death less than an hour after the snake capture took place. The Footage was recorded by Heiko Kiera aka Ojatro in 2010.

    We were told that snakes only bite when they feel threatened. Well, here's a case of a snake biting a dead animal, which is the perfect definition of non-threatening.

      It won't strike anyone, just those it deems as threat. In the regions it dwells there's big herd animals and bisons etc. It needs to kill those if necessary to survive or they're stomp the mamba to death.

      venom is a dangerous neurotoxin look how the lion moves. look how he,s holding its left hand ,paw the constant licking its lips the way it staggers away. Cats lion or house cat are accomplished snake hunter s killers
      I feel so sorry for this young lion having been bit especially by a black mamba. One evil snake big, deadly neurotoxic venom, fast moving fast as as a person can run a strike quicker than a boxers best jab, Ill tempered aggressive most snakes bite and run escape This evil thing follows the lion then continues to bite the now down dieing or dead lion Black mambas cant eat lions ,snakes dont chew lions are just to big to ever swallow. Just to make sure the lions dead

    I lived in the low-veld in Swaziland in a rural district known as kaDvokolawako. It was known as Inyoga Country by the Swazis, translation - Snake Country. There were plenty of poisonous snakes in the region. The one that was feared the most was the black and green mambas because of their speed but the black mamba was more feared because when cornered or if you were to come upon one unexpectedly they could rise up about 1/3 of their body length and strike in any direction but what made them dangerous is that they could keep their head well of the ground in a strike ready position while moving a great speed. One of the scariest stories I heard was of a team of three guys from the local diamond mine who were driving down a dirt road going about 20 kms/hr. It was in the early summer season where the grass can grow to at least 1.5 metres sometimes taller. They looked out of their African-style safari Land Rover truck. The head of a black mamba was level with their height of their heads above the ground and the snake was travelling parallel with the truck at the same speed the truck was travelling. The guy who saw the snake first screamed out loud. The other two looked out the driver-side window to see what had spooked the driver. When they saw the head of black mamba travelling at eye-level and going as fast as the truck they all freaked out. The driver drove the truck off the road and into the tall grass away from the snake. The thickness of the snake was almost as thick as a man's forearm. They figured the snake had to be between four and six metres long (15 to 20 feet). I heard about five stories of people who had been bitten by black mambas. If they didn't get anti-venom within 1/2 hour they were dead. Some people died within 10 minutes. I encountered a black mamba while driving my motor bike on a narrow track. The snake's head was within 20 cms. of my bike pegs as I approached. Then it reared up so that it's head was about 60 cms. off the ground and level with my waist and about 60 cms. from me. The snake opened its mouth, which is black inside. I was sure I was going to be bitten as I drove by. My bike was going impossibly slowly at the time because I was climbing up out of a creek bed. When I was even with the snake I was sure I was going to get bitten but at that very moment the snake threw its head and body away from me. I drove about 20 metres further down the road. I stopped and began to shake all over uncontrollably. I couldn't stop my body from shaking for the next three hours. I was suffering from PTSD of the extreme kind, as if I narrowly missed being killed in a war zone. Mambas are not always aggressive. I know of people who ran into them, where the snakes reared up where the snakes' heads were even with their own. The people survived by freezing on the spot, until the snake relaxed and moved away. However, I think if one was surprise one it would probably strike you. After I left, the headmaster killed a 6.5 metre black mamba and a 6.0 metre green mamba that were in trees besides the teachers' houses. I saw a 6 to 7 metre green mamba on the side of the road as we drove past. It looked like someone had thrown their green garden hose on the side of the road. Seeing the snake scared the shit out of me. In the two years I lived in Swaziland I had nine close calls with poisonous snakes. My closest call was I almost put my foot directly in front of a baby green mamba. My foot was less than 10 cms. from the snake's head when I sprung to safety and jumped out of the way. I was afraid of black mambas, green mambas, puff adders, gaboon adders, pythons (I picked one up that was about 5 metres long and as thick as a mans leg. It's head was tied to a bed post. The strength of that snake's muscle's was astounding. It was like touching steel under buttery leather. Thankfully I lived to tell about it. I bet I had hundreds of close calls I never knew about where the snakes were nearby or in the trees but couldn't see them because of their natural camoflage.

    That was a sub adult lion. Probably a year old- you can tell by it’s size and the black spots on its legs which they’re born with and eventually disappear as they mature. It probably saw the snake and inquisitively approached it and it got bitten. It was bitten before that last part at the end. A black mamba has strong neurotoxic venom which shuts down the muscles that pump the heart and lungs and vital organs. One bite will kill a grown man in 30 mins. That lion cub had no chance. The strange thing is I’ve never seen a mamba approach and bite a dead or dying animal. I was a game ranger and this video was an absolute first for me. It defies logic and snake behavior.

    • @ojatro
      @ojatro  3 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      Whenever a snake with decently powerful venom bites a lion , the lion is hopelessly dead , just a matter of time , unless the snake decides to not release venom during the bite. Here we are speaking about a Black Mamba , no chance for any animal in the savanna to survive a such venomous bite. Since I witnessed fanatic replies I will not read further replies than the ones I read already.

      @@random4969 LMAO XD I said "whenever a snake with DECENTLY POWERFUL VENOM" , I just said the truth , the truth which DESTROYS the weak pride of your kind. A lion of any age may only survive a snake bite if the snake species has not a decently powerful venom or if the snake bites without releasing venom just for warning the lion to not try again , otherwise punishment is DEATH. A LOW QUANTITY OF THE VENOM OF A BLACK MAMBA KILLS EASILY AN ADULT ELEPHANT AND KILLS A LION EVEN EASIER. Lions ALWAYS DIE when bitten by a powerfully venomous snake species which decides to release a low quantity of venom which is even slightly more than almost nothing. Lions go ferociously and keep being killed by venomous snakes every day , in a confrontation venomous snakes win about always because they are just too powerful and too quick , and they just need ONE SINGLE BITE , man. In the wildlife powerful venom + agility + stealth + small dimensions is the deadliest combination existing on Earth , and lions just keep being DESTROYED in pain by any venomous snake whose venom is even just decently powerful. When lions face snake species which have a weak venom and decide to release venom lions still lose and have very bad sympthoms , but they survive at least. FACTS SPEAK. I'M LAUGHING LIKE A CRAZY BECAUSE I JUST REALIZED YOU SADLY WOULD LIKE TO IMAGINE THINGS , HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA XD I'm sorry man , but you lost the match , lol. You are on the side of the loser animal which went extinct in Europe during the Stone Age , went extinct in Asia everywhere apart from the Gir forest and went extinct in a lot of zones of Africa , the populations of lions live sparse in lesser zones of Africa and are protected by humans which made a business with them. People keep hunting bears , boars , deer , jackals , foxes , wolves and such massively and still they thrive , this guy got extinct during the STONE AGE in Europe and lives in an eternal crisis elsewhere. It's just LAUGHABLE , HAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA XD man , I don't know what is more breath taking between a mamba bite or what you say , lol. Now you can return petting your house cat. It is the habit of venomous snakes to bite the intended prey, then wait until the poison takes affect, then go in and eat it, so they do not get hurt by a bite from the prey. The snake in the video was indeed unusual to say the least, and not too bright. Somehow, we think this was all part of a set-up and not real.

    It's hard to say what actually doomed the starving cub, starvation, or a bite from a highly venomous snake. Clearly in it's already horribly weaken state, a bit from such a venomous snake could have easily killed it.
