Cocoa Boayue I m African and unfortunately, the vast majority of us just don’t understand or know what happened to our brothers, sisters, cousins, parents when they got on those ships towards the new world. It’s movie like this that’s important to teach a valuable lesson that our African chiefs were wrong, slavemasters were wrong, the institution of slavery was wrong, and the Europeans powers that allow slavery to exist were wrong! Let’s be clear on these facts that 99% of Africans today had nothing to do with the slave trade and let’s be clear that the vast majority of white people had nothing to do with slavery. The problem that exist as of 2021 is the fact that racism, tribalism, prejudices, discrimination and hate that’s part of human nature, must be minimized by one towards other people, for there are people out there who have fallen victims to these human ills...making it difficult for them to put ENOUGH bread and butter on the table for them and their family members. The great news here is that we all have the power as individuals to change the world around us, to treat the next person with empathy --to treat others the way you will want to be treated regardless of your social-economic status . In a nutshell the be kind and to treat others with decency while giving other people an opportunity to climb the economic ladder of life, in today’s society. Thank you. One of the most famous Kru in Cote d'Ivoire is my Country ex- president call LAURENT KOUDOU GBAGBO who refuse to let the french domination in Ivory coast ( Cote d'Ivoire)
He was attacked by the French military and the rebels in 2011, deported to the international court of haye in Europe and was kept there until 2019!
He is now transferred to Belgium and the French are making sure that he doesn't come back to the Ivory coast to interrupt their massive exploitation of our resources.
They put a black french valet as president of Cote d'ivoire and his blond wife as first lady...
Right now, we are fighting to get our Real president back because he is a honest , strong and the most panafrican president we never have.
On the news, the European describes the coup they did as a ethnic crisis but that's not the case. The real reason is the neo-colonialism battle that we are facing and the people of cote d'Ivoire are determined to give read of the French imperialism and the French army that causes so many deaths for centuries.

The people generally described as KROU/KRU are the KLAO people. Some of the smallest groups among the kwa of Liberia and ivory coast. They often settle along the coastlines of both Liberia and ivory coast. They are skilled fishermen and sea navigators. There are actually more KROU/KWA people in the ivory coast than there are in Liberia. Generally the Kwa people understand one another however keep in mind that there is a slight different tone variation when pronouncing certain words. KLAO not KRU let's correct that.

The Kru & Grebo people of Liberia & the Bete & Krou of Ivory Coast are the same people the border between Liberia & Ivory Coast are colonial and not tribal or ethnic. This is the case in most of Africa. So people of the same ethnicity are many times of nationalities/ citizenships. As the daughter of two Kru parents who were from families who were traditional oral chroniclers and paramount chiefs, the stories, origins & traditions of Kru people (that is not what we refer the ourselves as in our language) I was taught about my history from the day I could understand words.

Anyone ever heard of the legendary Gola warrior, Vanja Vanja, the man who overthrew a slave ship. Born in the Dowo Mountains of the Komgba region, Vanja-Vanja was reputedly a man of “gigantic size and extraordinary physical strength.” On a visit to Gahulong on the coast, he became indignant at the sight of a large number of Gola youth being loaded onto a slave ship. Determined to counteract this, he persuaded an acquaintance to tie him up and sell him to the slaver on the pretext that he wanted to visit the country of the whites.
Once aboard the slave ship, Vanja-Vanja took note of “a very huge and ferocious dog” used to keep the captives terrorized. Once the ship had cleared land, he unleashed his plan: Seizing the dog first, he threw it overboard, followed by every crew member but one. He spared the pilot, who he compelled to steer the ship to shore, where he freed all the captives.
Vanja-Vanja eventually returned to Komgba, where his grave in the Dowo Mountains was preserved at least until the 1950s. ✊🏿✊🏿 🇱🇷

I’m so excited I’ve been watching all your videos and to see you made a video on our Kru ethnic groups is so great. I’ve been researching the origin of the Kru people and I’m positive I know where they descend from.
They came from Songhai (Gao Capital) empire, when Mansa Musa made a stop at Gao and captured the Kru/Klao princes (Sunni Ali and his brother) and later on when Askia Muhammad declared war on the traditionalist our people travelled south and journeyed through Dan/Yacouba land. All the Klao/Kwa/Kru linguistic group (Kuwaa/Belle, Deiwon, Bassa, Kru/Klao, Klépo/Grebo/Bete, Sarpo & Gbee, and Krahn/Wobè/Guere/Wê) are all family. Before Songhai they trace their lineage back to the Adbassa empire near lake chad region. They also mention having ancestors going back to the 25th Nubian dynasty.

Pedro Sartori de Lima I m African and unfortunately, the vast majority of us just don’t understand or know what happened to our brothers, sisters, cousins, parents when they got on those ships towards the new world. Thank you. The name Kru or Krou was given by the English people CREW. Because we are groups of people that master the sea.

In our dialect you’ll find a lot of English words. Souclou -> school, téblé -> table, the city Sassandra came from Portuguese etc. The Krou were 100% free and independent. Europeans couldn’t sell them as slaves they had to do business with them. The Krou mastered the sea and navigation like no one else. The NeYo (a see tribe of the Krou) which means Children of the Water, refused to send their children to France to study, but the bété (Krou) and Baoulé (Akan) sent their children. And they came with their European mentality and since then our country ain’t been the same. Since Houphouet

Mah I also remember that the krou were not only trading people but they were also ferocious warriors who sometimes fought with each other and other people using guerilla and siege tatics. They took 13-15 years of warfare to conquer all of the krou people in ivory coast and in Liberia the black Americans nearly lost to the kru if it wasn't for The USA coming. By the way when the betè start to sending people to france?
