It depends on what phase of the scene. So I can give him a pass on that. I couldn't speak on much before 98 and coming from the Northside. When I was in middle school 97-99 on the Northside. It was in 98 when things started to bubble up. Thats when you really had no excuse. By the end of 99 Wanna Be A Baller was multiplatinum and show cased SUC. But before that DJ DMD had a record on the radio. Leading up to 00 Lil Flip had released the Leprechaun with a ton of success. SPM was on the radio. Even Master P shouted out DJ Screw in Bourbons and Lacs. It wasn't a local secret anymore. Not to mention that so many of my friends would rock the hell out them Kappa Beach Party shirts their older brothers and cousins would buy them.

They didn't start flowing on tapes till 93. Pat,Botany Boys, and Al-D were the first.
