    Use soft shackles on one end of the ridgeline and on your Prusics. No knots to tie, no toggles to find. I use 550 paracord for the main line and #36 bank line for the Prusics. A diamond knot for a stopper on the bank lines, diamond knot or monkey fist on the end of the main line. You can set up a basic shelter in under 2 minutes, you will need at least 2 stakes for a lean-to or 4 to make the A frame. My rig has 5 Prusic loops, one for the second end of the main line, 2 for the tarp and 2 spares to use for a second tarp, lights or whatever.

    Use the prussek loops to tighten the ridge line just out an extra one on the line so after you tie it off then do your second wrap use a prussek loop to tighten the line I use para cord for that loop and the other 3 I keep as bank line . Works like a charm

    Great video and advice Matt. Just purchased 2 figure 9 carabinar clips
    after watching this as they make hanging a ridge line so much easier. Cheers Andy

    What a lovely video! I’m setting up my first ridge line for hammock camping, the cord is thick as it’s DD ridge line, attached 3 prusik knots with paracord, but they have an extra - toggles like what a big coat would have so no need for the sticks. Figure 9 and a bowline hitch just like yours, maybe I need another figure 9 for the other end.

    I use hardware on my hammocks, but I've always used knots on all my tarps and ridgelines, anyways long story short - I've just discovered nite ize S biners, figure 9's and cam jams and wow! - I'm a big believer in newbies learning knots first and staying away from hardware, but once you have the basics down, or when it's so cold you don't want to remove your gloves, hardware like this is amazing. I know the americans like their Dutch stuff, but I'm not ready to stop using paracord yet and I hate fiddling with tiny bits of zing it.

    Love your videos but the fraying in those lines is giving me a migraine. Pls take a lighter to the ends and melt it haha!!

    Thanks for sharing. Do you have any advise on how to remain stealth but not lose your camp at night? This might sound like a random question but it did actually happen to me once. It took me half an hour to find it! Now I always tag my location in my phone, but even that isn't a foolproof option (battery could die, gps in woods/wilderness can be off). Any advice would be much appreciated.

      I’d suggest not going too far from your camp, or you could use what three words app which is very accurate geo tagging. I’ve never struggled before to find it. All the best bud

    How come you don't burn the 550 cord ends? Keeps ends from fraying and coming apart...When I was in the Army we would always burn the ends as soon as we cut the 550 cord. Kept the main roll clean and tightly spun. Also it kept the outer fibers from coming undone within their own respective woven pattern. All in all, you know what you're doing with confidence so please don't take me as being a Ken(Karen) lol. Just curious is all. Keep these coming cause I'm learning your knots.

      I do burn mine, just not until after I’d made the video mate.
      Really appreciate the view Clint, thanks dude

      Hi mate, I’ll take that as a compliment, I’ve never served. I’m in the fire service and have had the pleasure of working on watches with ex military. Upmost respect for anybody who has 🙌🇬🇧

    I was just wondering are you using the large ones or the small version in this video and what do you think about using a figure 9 rope tensioner and a figure 9 carabiner at the same time
    Awesome video 👍👍👍

    • @AirbornePirates
      @AirbornePirates  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Matteo yes you can use various sizes and mix it, I also used a tensioner clip bought from Amazon on one side. But dragon outdoors has a tutorial and that
