- After watching their mothers get killed for meat and after being kidnapped from the jungle, these baby chimps are getting a second chance, thanks to an American couple who moved to West Africa and are creating a sanctuary, Liberia Chimpanzee Rescue & Protection.

Seems like the sanctuary chimps are luckier than those in the wild. No violent chimp wars where they eat each other, no lions, tigers and struggling to find food daily.

But all those things makes them chimpanzees. If you were taken away from the city you live in and was put in a human sanctuary limited in the things you can do. Is that living? I say invest more in getting rid of those who are trying to get rid of chimpanzees.

In almost all of these sanctuaries you never see the older, more mature male chimps and how they establish their troop hierarchies using fear and intimidation. You do see adult chimps in Zoo's.
