Thanks so much Julieanne for your helpful tutorials here and for 😊everything you did in the previous years 🙏🏻 One thing though, I‘ve ask for years to get more than just two times 9 Keywords to choose from. The GUI has enough space on the right hand side and it shouldn’t be too hard to implement programming wise. This would be extremely helpful, probably not only for me. Anyway, all the best to you 🙋🏼♂️ Sven
Thanks Julianne. Excellent as always. I was hoping to find a tip about when a range of images are selected and only some have a particular keyword attached. That keyword has an asterisk after it. How do you add that particular keyword to all of the images selected? Is it as simple as deleting the asterisk?
Omg i was just thinking of this how to do it , and your video came up 😮 , is now phones hack our brains 😅, anyway thanks for the video and all the effort you put in it.
Yet another very helpful video. 1) I add aspect ratio keywords to virtual copies for different devices and social media (Frame, phone, tablet, Facebook, Instagram, etc). Let’s say I have 1x1 and 1-1 in my list and I want to change all the 1-1 entries to 1x1 to be consistent. I cannot change the 1-1 in the keyword list to 1x1 because it already exists. I guess I can search for all the 1-1 images, select them in grid view, delete the 1-1 keyword and add the 1x1 keyword, then delete the 1-1 entry. 2) since you can import a keyword file hierarchy, I assume there already exists, or I can export a printable file holding the existing keyword list. Is that correct?
Really useful info Julieanne, I knew most of your tips, but I did learn some new tips. Have you any thoughts on a couple of (expensive) 3rd party Plugins for Lightroom, namely, Excire & PeakTo, both using AI to populate your photo collection automatically with Keywords ?
Thank you Julieanne; been awhile since I needed to hear your wonderful online voice. Keyword in a hierarchy, exported to a windows "editing" folder, and the edited file imported back into Lr does with the keyword does not go back into the hierarchy k/word . What have I set wrong? . Keywords are for my use only these days/not needed online I know you will hate me now 😥; but I still use my old and faithful Lr5 ---- started with Lr2 And do love your inspirational images on FB 🤠
Is there a limit to the number or keywords possible in LrC? Can the drop down keyword list be ordered Z to A to acces keywords that are not findable on the drop down, A to Z?
I'm creating a keywords list based on the 'Lightroom Keyword List Project'. I have a couple of questions that I hope you can help me with: 1. How would you categorize "things" that fall somewhat between "WHAT" and "WHERE"? For example, mountains and lakes. A mountain may be present in two photos taken from completely different locations, which seems redundant to label in each instance (and leads to my next question). Categorizing them as "WHAT" creates confusion for smaller items, such as a hot spring or geyser. These items can't be present in photos shot from elsewhere, but technically, you're not at a geyser, you're seeing one. 2. Can the same keyword exist in two different hierarchies?
The thing that is missing form Lightroom Classic keywords is a context-dependent scope. In other words, what we see is all the keywords we have ever created over the lifetime of the app. I would like to see only the keywords relevant to the current collection, so something similar. Does this make sense?
It's really easy using the built in text editor with Windows. Your Parent keywords are on the far left, to create a sub-category, press the tab key. Each subsequent tab creates another sub-category, or level, of keyword. Try and avoid having too many else it makes it difficult to view lots of nested levels in the editor panel.
So rather simple ineffective creation of keywording, rather than the more effective use of Bridge templates for a broad range of keyword entries along with other relevant specific applicable metadata. I usually add around 50 keywords and rely exclusively on templates generated and saved in Bridge (or Photoshop). I have never found an option to save collections of keywords (around 50) in Lightroom - why is this template option not available ?? Only drawback with Bridge Templates is that the original shoot date is recorded in the saved template, so later use on subsequent shoots has the previous shoot date added - frustrating
You can use this approach in LR, it's just called presets not templates. It's possible to create one at the import stage or just type in your generic keywords, which are then added to all those photos.
Keywording is such a chore, but this information is really helpful. It's going to save me a lot of time - thanks.
Well Done, Julieanne
Great information and very useful. Thank you
Thanks Julieanne, Some great tips
Fantastic tutorial JK. you rock

Very good. Thanks!
Very informative. Some people are making good bucks by selling lists of keywords.

Great video (as always). Do you know why the keywords are not synchronized from Lightroom Classic to Lightroom?
Is there a limit to the number or keywords possible in LrC? Can the drop down keyword list be ordered Z to A to acces keywords that are not findable on the drop down, A to Z?

Hey, do you have a tutorial how to create a hierarchic keyword list in a tex editor program

As regards the shoot date, you only check items in the template that you want to update. So this should just be keywords in your case.
