Thanks for the comment ☺. About dark and light tones, yes experiment is necessary, play with colors and finalize the best one. In addition to that observation is necessary too. If you observe it carefully then you can choose the tones in mind and see what fits the best.
You can use curly strokes of slightly dark and light color over the base hair color., not all over it.. Sort of Minimal, just to make sure that the hair are curly.
