If he didn’t get shot he might have changed heavyweight history perhaps? The big CAT and the TOP CAT LISTON dominated the heavyweights at this point till the Louisville Lip came along.! 🥊🥊🇺🇸😁👏

@@EwFatppl Walcott has true ring generalship. He was crafty, calculating and delivered punches with inch perfection. Against Williams if he fought him in his prime it would be hard to work out who’d win. I’ll go for Walcott based on his proven track record. But on the fact Walcott could be knocked out as happened in Marciano and Louis fights, you cannot disqualify The Big Cat

The Big Cat had absolute "knockout power" in that right hand. Cleveland put many good fighters to sleep behind his awesome pile-driver right hand. Both fights the Big Cat had with Sonny Liston were bomb-throwing affairs! It was who would knock out who first. Cleveland bounced some hard shots off Liston's head, and although Liston was hurt, he never showed it. In both fights Cleveland nailed Sonny with shots that would have put most fighters out. Sonny barely blinked. This is the very reason that I believe that Sonny flat out took a dive in the second fight with Ali. No way, no how, would that light right hand that Ali hit Sonny with would have compared to Cleveland Williams awesome power shots he put on Sonny, who never went down, or even come close to. Yet that light tap Ali gave Liston and that monster falls out like he had been hit with an axe. Sonny took a cue from pro wrestling as he rolled over in an attempt to rise. Anyone that knows boxing, knows a dive when they see it, and we saw it that night in Lewiston. When a fighter, with the powerful build and awesome power in both hands of a Sonny Liston, falls out from an Ali light right hand shot, the joint starts stinking! Cleveland Williams, the Big Cat, proved to the world what an "iron jaw" Sonny had when his bombs did not faze Liston, but Ali's right was something super natural.Yeah, right! For myself and many others, great champions like Rocky Marciano, Jack Dempsey, Jack Sharkey, George Chuvalo, and many others say "fake", it's a FAKE! The only issue to consider is the "why" Sonny laid down??? I do not believe it was a payoff! I believe that Sonny realized that Ali had way too much ring skill and intelligence to allow Sonny to corner him and work him over with those hard hitting fists of his. Sonny took the easy way out, and avoided the beat-down he would have received had he went out like a champion should. Boxing fans and historians can only speculate on the "why" Liston laid down. Sonny's past ring history was the proof of his iron jaw, and would indict this fight as fake! Cleveland would fight Ali way past his prime, and the fight ended early. The Big Cat was "really knocked out" in this fight. In his prime, I don't believe Cleveland would have won, but he would have given a better account of himself. Thanks for this video on a great power puncher of the past, Cleveland "the Big Cat" Williams.

the left hand was the most dangerous if he knew how to use his right he wouldve had more knockouts sometimes u cannot knockout someone with a left hook but rather a right hand for this opponet

Thankfully someone has proved the conspiracy against Cleveland Williams was not only essential, also pivotal to continue the narrative of Ali as champion.
Version of Williams on Nov. 14 1966 had managed to beat Ali or knocked him out you’d never hear about Ali or his legacy. Too many people had too much to loose, come in Bud Adams co-manager. He summoned a notice to garnish Williams winnings before the fight.
Can clearly see Williams was in no condition to fight Ali that night, because the notice not only stunned him but re-awoken his experience during recovery process. Williams walked around like he had been zombified. By any time he was in any position to fight or defend himself it was too late.
I am not satisfied or will be satisfied by his loss to Ali, because too many circumstances and events coincide together to demonstrate everything was against Williams.

Ali was shit scared of this fighter, he wanted no part of him and even when they fought on Nov.14 1966 Ali danced like he was not prepared to take a punch from Williams. In addition Ali knew the mans fibre.

exactly exactly, when cleveland landed that one short jolting body punched on ali u see how fast ali backed away even though he landed not much on ali he litteraly was scared to get hit by cleveland as you state, but if a boxer such as lucien sonny banks knocks down ali who isnt even known as a top puncher drops the “iron chinned granite chinned “louisville lip please watch my video on about a statement ali said on my ring issue magazine saying “if i would’ve fought the williams before the gunshot and in his hayday or when he was younger no telling he probably would have knocked me out” th-cam.com/video/Z0Rs-o8GgIQ/w-d-xo.html i state the reason why and how cleveland williams would knock this so called “superman” out

@@EwFatppl When you look at the combinations Williams was putting on Liston in both of there fights in 1959 & 1960 when Williams was a top flight contender and was at cusps of challenging Floyd Patterson (who also is a mentor of mine) for the heavyweight championship of the world. His power could be noticed & anyone but Liston would’ve tasted the canvass.
Williams problem and only a few during his prime years before being shot by a .357 magnum was that he relied too much on his assets of punching power, that left him open to countering punches as was the case in Ali’s fight. But in saying that he was fast with his hands and was dangerous. Everyone that fought The Big Cat was always forced to back up, that also includes Sonny Liston. This is why Sonny Liston was considered unbeatable because of his demolishing performances against Patterson & Williams who were great boxers of there day.
In addition when Ali stepped into the ring with Williams there was no clowning around and this was the version of The Big Cat who only 2 years earlier tasted a .357 magnum at point blank range. Lost 3/4 small intestines, kidney, 60 lbs of body weight. To come back in the ring and stand against a prime Ali speaks volumes about this mans abilities. It also says to me who was Sonny Liston to do the job on a prime Cleveland Williams. Ali was shit scared and you know it when Williams forced him into a corner with a hard stiff jab, Ali was running & moving everywhere to avoid Williams. Williams was able to release that right uppercut, that Ali managed to duck or graze him. He needed to get out of there as fast as possible. Ali demolition of Williams is proof of how he needed to take out his opponent quickly and took advantage of body shots knowing very well the bullet injury sustained took a toll on him. Remember Ali jabs only were able to stop Williams momentarily, not push him back and Williams kept on moving forwards. Ali also said “Williams had a lot of hard punches”. Even after he knocked him down for 4th time he still says “He is game” Ali had enormous respect for this mans abilities, punching power, heart & determination.

@@EwFatppl To why I have him on my TH-cam, what you said hit the nail on the head. Williams was a victim of the sporting establishment on many levels. Many of Ali lovers attempt to promote & even glorify his achievements in the ring against Williams. I thought to myself considering what this fighter went through, you guys are doing that & still doing it.
I knew about Williams because I was watching a documentary on Ali and they had Williams fight. As I watched it I wanted to know more about this man. Something was telling me deep down in my soul after getting that thrashing & getting up numerous times I need to understand who this fighter was. I did reading about him on the Library back in mid 1990’s when he was still alive. When I read about the shooting incident & how he forgave the officer in addition, it showed me this mans character. Also he remained humble throughout his comeback. He didn’t want recognition of his actions because he knew he shouldn’t have been drinking that night. He accepted partial blame not for the shooting but being in that position. Anyway I watched this mans abilities on VHS against Sonny Liston and that fight is the mark of his greatness.
In addition he passed away in 1999 and I was disappointed that I couldn’t meet him in person. I’ve always loved contact sport not for its contact but because it demonstrates and brings out what’s inside in the man. Cleveland Williams may have brought upon some of the issues he had to deal with but he is a Champion fighter because of his determination, abilities, skills & character. He came back for the right reason and that was to fight for the World Title. A belt he was about to fight for in 1964 against Terrell. So he put it in his mind to get himself in condition so he could have that opportunity not to parade about his experience in recovering from .357 magnum. You can see that in abundance, he keeps his head down. That’s a good man in my eyes.
In addition when Ali lovers use Cleveland Williams bout as an example of Ali’s greatest achievements in the ring. I say in return, what about Larry Holmes. Then they come back with comments like if he wasn’t fit or in condition they wouldn’t allow him in the ring. I always say yeah that’s correct in part, but just because he regained his muscularity & conditioning. It does not mean the bullet didn’t cause damage or affect him. I show them fights with Liston and they live in denial. It’s because they don’t want to accept the reality that Ali didn’t have the punch to knock out Liston. When you see in Williams landing left hooks & right cross bombs, that physically shake Liston to the core but don’t send him crashing down. Plus if Williams wins Ali fight in the condition he was in it would’ve proved phantom punch controversy. I came to the understanding that Williams was a victim all the way. That shooting was no accident, I believe they wanted him to find himself in that position & most of all they stole his winnings to ensure he didn’t have a hope in hell of giving it his best in that title fight. They destroyed his confidence.

On the evening of November 29, 1964, 2 years before the fight, Williams was shot in the stomach by a highway patrolman, for supposedly resisting arrest. The . 357 magnum bullet moved across his intestines and lodged in his right hip, doing immense damage to his colon and right kidney.
Then Ali had a Hernia that on Nov. 19 1964 for a rematch with Liston was cancelled. Then Williams found himself fighting for his life a week later. That stinks of rubbish. They knew that Clay would win the rematch because the Fix was in play. But they didn’t know what to do about mandatory challenger. So they purposefully cancelled the fight on the news Ali has a Hernia. No proof came to fruition. So they had taken Ali greatest threat of the title because he was not prepared to loose for a fix. So they attempted to kill him & his manager was on the fix, Bud Adams. These circumstances don’t just happen it was all done by design.
