    I have three passports:
    UK (birth)
    Trinidad and Tobago (descent)
    United States (naturalization).
    Before the pandemic, Barbados planned to extend citizenship to grandchildren. This has been on hold. My paternal grandfather was born in Barbados and I have the paperwork to prove it. The Barbados parliament will eventually change the immigration law to expand citizenship to grandchildren of Barbadians. Once this happens, I will pursue a Barbados passport.

    If that guy has the record with 8 citizenships, he may also have the record for how many countries he can live in because Ireland is part of the European Union and British includes England, Wales and Scotland. I think he can live in approximately 36 countries legally! Perhaps more if you include the other islands, countries and/or territories that all those countries have in other parts of the world. Eg France has islands and other lands it owns.

My understanding is the Cape Verde is part of a freedom of movement regime in West Africa amongst 15 member nations, which has had varied degrees of usefulness for citizens of various countries, not to mention the access they might have as s college graduate to Caricom's free movement regime and the OECS free movement regime with their various Caribbean citizenships. The only way to further increase free movement for the record holder greatly that I could think of would be citizenship in a Mercusor country.

    I believe you are mistaken, technically King Charles III, is deemed to be a citizen of every citizen he happens to technically be head of state. Therefore he now has the most citizenships. However, you might want to correct the statement and say your guy has the most "passports". King Charles doesn't travel with passports or have a driver's license as these document are technically created under his authority.

    I want a UN Passport (aka Laissez Passer)... though that will likely remain a dream.
    But while we are at it could you also talk about "buying" diplomatic passports?
    I know a couple of persons who became honorary consuls based on economic activity / investments and therefore also received a diplomatic passport. One such family I know founded a major tourism company and managed to pull that off receiving a diplomatic passport from Indonesia.

    • @matthewnirenberg
      @matthewnirenberg ปีที่แล้ว

      Only the highest level UN staff are given the Laissez Passer that looks like a normal passport. There is a lesser known version that is a double sided page which was given to people fleeing Europe at the end of WW2 and during the couple of times during the Cold War where the USSR permitted some people to leave. This double sided page version hasn't been issued since 1980 as by then, most countries simply introduced refugee visas that don't require a passport as the visa has the persons photo and other details on it.
      Interpol have their own equivalent but its not a Laissez Passer - their's is purely a Interpol travel document with "INTERPOL" where the country name would otherwise be and in some places must be used with a valid normal or official passport.
