Hi Neil, Great video. I have just got myself a B-Stock one of these in Vintage Gold from Andertons. Packaged excellently and there is nothing noticeable as to why it is B Stock, other than it no longer has labels. I'm very impressed with that aspect of their service. I've been playing guitar for 47 years since I was 7 and in that time have tried and owned many guitars and I too have much "higher spec" guitars than this one and similar to your experience this is already my "go to" guitar for around the house and practicing. Now, it may have been used by Andertons as a demo guitar, so, they may have set it up and performed some extra checks and give it a good clean before shipping it to me, but, I can report that on my model it is set up very well and plays brilliantly. Obviously, to a season player with an ear for listening to guitars, yes, I can tell the difference in quality of various aspects of this guitar compared to others, but it cost £350.00 and I don't expect the world for that price. More importantly, once plugged in and with some reverb, chorus and overdrive in place, the average audience member wouldn't realise or care about what guitar is being played. So, to anyone wondering if a guitar in this price bracket is a serious guitar that can be gigged. I would say "Definitely Yes" I would be more than happily gig this guitar. In the end regardless of how snobby you want to get, it's the player in the end who makes the difference. This guitar feels good and that's what makes a player happy.
Just bought one of these for my son. It was his first experience of choosing a guitar and after trying about a dozen different makes and models. It was the playability that really sold it to him He chose one with a satin finish as he likes the feel. I would say for the money its a great guitar, but really its a great guitar whatever price you're paying.
Cheers man, just bought one with the help of your review. Been playing Chapmans for a while and found myself hankering for a more traditional single-cut from a different brand. My first single-cut infact. I snagged the Satin Black option :)
How good are these? I have two the OG 2009 Distressed Satin black and a 2018 cherry sunburst. Both are rosewood instead of jatoba. To me they play fantastic, the build quality is flawless, so upgrading them with my preferred pickups and high end hardware is a much better option than getting something better to replace them. In fact, I know plenty of people with upgraded 256s that are not only gigging them but touring.
I just got the Sweetwater exclusive with a original Floyd, steel frets, it does have rosewood but it's darker, plays like pure butter and made in Korea. EMG 81 n 60... I tried a bunch like in your demo.... ESP is killing that bang for dollars or pounds .. mine was near $1000 US... Probably close to 900 lbs where you are. My only complaint has nothing to do with ESP it just near the nut the thin U has some getting used to... You and I are Jackson n charvel spoiled with the necks lol... Love the demo that thing sounds huge just like the goblin and schecter you just got. Price on that thing is killer!!! Have a blessed day brother 😎👊 thanks for the demo
I’ll have to checkout that sweet water exclusive, yeah the Schecter & Jackson necks are thinner for sure but I think with a nice low action the u is not going to really slow me or anything
@@NinecoreNeil definitely check them out mine looks like a USA custom shop... Not a flaw on mine at all. The necks are thin like we like it's simply just a tiny bit different only near the nut frets 1 and 2 . But since I just got a PRS with very similar neck more I play it more I like it . Cheers bro 👊

@@Stoitism killer guitars mate ,don’t talk to me about chapman guitars it’s a sore point 😂
Nice one 😎
The EC-256 definitely punches above its weight. I have the distressed blue flamed top one. Stock pickups were OK but put in a SD Jazz/JB set.
Yeah these are a touch more rounded than the jb a bit less vicious
You inspired me to dust it off this morning and give it set up (action was too high) and some fresh strings. 🤘
@@LCW_01 excellent 👌 ha enjoy 😉
What does it sound like now. I am actually thinking about doing the same thing.

Yep totally agree these have just dropped to £369 😱
Black+gold is a classic look for sure, but I'm hoping for a wine red colourway some day
Yeah I keep looking at the blood red esp Gary Holt
