Hello Man! Thanks for the comment. To answer your question, I play/write music for 15 years long now. I mostly played guitar and bass + wrote music with virtual instruments at first. Then, 2 or 3 years ago, I started getting interested with traditional instruments so I had to learn by myself and so on. I am still learning, practicing, enjoying :)
Просто отлично. Жаль что всего минута, такой музыки хочется больше. Как удаётся так шикарно записывать звук? Ветер вообще не мешает слушать музыку. Направленный микрофон с мохнатой насадкой?
Hi dude) Thanks for your kind words. I will record a longer version for sure. The sound (as for "tagelharpa in nature") is recorded with a Tascam DR-05X + the microphone of my phone, then I mix both tracks to have this result so I am glad if it's good enough for now but I will possibly upgrade this setup a bit because I like such "nature/live" recording :)
@@ravnchannel woah never heard of a rebec before! That things badass, so loud for something so tiny too! I wonder where it comes from? Haha so many crazy new medieval instruments I love learning about them too, I'm such a history nerd haha
The rebec is the ancestor of the violin and was widely used in Europe. This one had been made in Russia in the style of the Novgorod Gudok. There is a link to the maker in the video description :)
Hi! My rebec is with steel strings actually (viola strings). I don't have a particular rosin. I just bought a pack of cheap solid rosin from a shop and it works fine to me 😌
@Jaiwho I don't think they are better or worse, but they are different for sure. It only depends on the sound you want and the conditions you deal with 😌
is there different types of rebecs and if so, which one is this, where did you get it and how much did it cost because I would love to learn how to play it.
Yes there are different types of rebecs/gudoks. You can find soprano, alto, tenor etc... it depends on the sound you are looking for, and you can find all kind of price. All my rebecs/gudoks come from Jack Harps. He is a very good luthier with this instrument.
Hey there Ravn, I actually just obtained my Novgorod style Rebec/Gudok from Jack and Marina like yourself. Mine is tuned to C G C. My background is guitar like instruments, woodwinds and percussive instruments I am new to strings. I am struggling to produce a clean tone, I am getting a lot of scratching no matter how I use the bow. Any tips?
Take your time. Experiment the bow. Experiment the necessary amount of rosin. Practice. Be regular. And don't be too hard on yourself. Enjoy your practice and it will come. Jack makes great instruments, but like all the instruments, it takes some time to apprehend them and to understand how they might be played.
What are you tuned to on this? I say that you mentioned you’re used viola strings in response to another comment. I’ve got a viola, you reckon I could just lean it up, remove one of the strings and play this? Great stuff
Hello Vladimir! Thanks for the comment. The tuning I use in this video is C3 F3 C4. It is indeed a lower tuning compared to Percival. If I am not mistaken, Katarzyna tunes her rebec D3 G3 D4
We need longer version please 😊
I will make a longer version, I promise! :D
I concur with Qualka.
As promised, here is the long version: th-cam.com/video/PXE4jZcL3fU/w-d-xo.html
😊
I can't understand where you get the inspiration for such magical melodies !
They naturally come depending on the instrument I play. It's only a matter of feelings :) very glad you like them
It almost sounds like a tagelharpa with that 2 string harmony
The rebec sounds more metallic but yes the tuning can be the same and the bowing too! So it's not that far away 😊
🎶very very nice🎶 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💯
Thank you my friend 😄
Damn that was really nice! I'm looking forward for the full version 🖤
Thank you my friend :) the full version should arrive next winter with many new things. I hope you will like them too!
Looks like a very idyllic place, great for such music
It is a very calm place indeed. On top of a hill, surrounded by wheat fields and woods.
Шедеврально ) БлагоДарю ☺️
You're so kind! Thank you very much 🙏 I am glad you like it. It was the first tune I wrote on rebec 😅
😍❤️
😊🤍
This is sooo Good! 👌😀
Thanks to nature 😊
Love it!
Whoaaa!! This one sounds amazing 😄 too bad a raccoon has been sacrificed by the heat 😆
No raccoons were harmed during the making of this video! 😄 Thanks for your kind words, I am happy you like it. Rebec is such an amazing instrument :)
Can you share your journey of learning to play all these instruments?

Hi Nikki! Thank you so much for your kind words 😊 the rebec comes from an amazing maker. Here is his youtube channel: youtube.com/@JackHarpsWorkshop
sweet job
Thank you very much!
Is it a tenor rebec ? Alto rebec ?
Beautiful 🙏
Hi it's more of a tenor rebec 😌 with viola steel strings. I tune it DGD, DAD, or CGC 😊

Thank you so much! I bought it from Jack Harps 😊
Magnificent sound,
with the appropriate price ;)
Edit: Are both tracks, lead and support, played in the same instrument?
Hi Boris! Thank you! What you hear is a pure live performance. I added a small reverb but it's only one record 😊
Внешне чем-то похож на ребек/бизантийскую лиру группы percival, но звук выходит рониже. Хорошая работа! Какая настройка у этого инструмента?

Is that a 6 string, 3 course Rebec?
Hi! No, this is 3 strings only
