There are tons of great stuff from this band. "You're The Only Woman", "How Much I Feel", "Holden on to Yesterday", "Nice, Nice Very Nice", "Life Beyond LA". - and a lot more. I appreciate you guys. Much love.
When David Pack performs this song today he still sounds just as good as he did in 1980 when this song was at the top of the charts. Todays generation will never know. You just don't hear artists like this anymore. Definitely another place in time.
This song was Ambrosia's second Top 5 hit in a row. The song peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the summer of 1980. What a beautiful song indeed!!!
You are correct that song came out in the summer of 1980 I was 7 years old at the time classic music was coming out during the Ronald Regan Jimmy Carter years Empire stirkes back movie came out that summer of 1980.
Glad it got mentioned, also did great work with the Doobies, not just with the Sax, the keys and vocally as well. It's nice that someone else remembers how great he was.
to add to Edwards, Bumpus did a HUGE amount of work with the Doobies, taking on Tom Johnston's vocals on many songs while they toured in the McDonald years. See Long Train Runnin' etc...
Ambrosia started out as a Prog Rock group but quickly moved to more mainstream rock and ballads. Great group and this song is a staple in what has become known as “Yacht Rock” nice Falsetto by David Pack. Hair was a thing in the 70’s and 80’s Dee. Here’s the recipe for Ambrosia: 1/2 cup heavy cream 1 tablespoon sugar 4 ounces sour cream 6 ounces homemade mini marshmallows, approximately 3 cups 1 cup clementine orange segments, approximately 6 clementines 1 cup chopped fresh pineapple 1 cup freshly grated coconut 1 cup toasted, chopped pecans 1/2 cup drained maraschino cherries
I'm usually disappointed when reaction videos channels play a live version of a song, but not this time. What a performance. The singer is fabulous. Thank y'all for the reaction. Keep on r'actin .
Please keep listening to the older music! I was a teenager when this music was changing my life ! Today's music does not compare!! Understand, their was no auto tune back then. Just incredible talent!! Enjoy!
Ambrosia had a song with Michael McDonald and James Ingram called I Can't Let Go. The chorus is written in three-part harmony and David Pack, Michael McDonald and James Ingram just kill it. Legendary producer Quincy Jones called the trio the other trinity (other than the Father, Son and Holy Ghost) Yea, it is a good one. Hope you check it out.
It might be on the Michael McDonald and Friends concert with Patti, Kenny, James, David and more. Also- the three ( J M D) perform Maria from West Side Story on this as well- gorgeous.
I think this song has been considered the best arragement ever recorded. I listen to this on and on and i couldn't found any mystake. This is the perfect song. How the voice is blended with the sax solo and the organ solo at the end of the song. All fit perfectly. Harmonies stunning, guitar solo right on the target, sax solos second to none, and the chorus. They really took their time to created a master piece like no other. This is pure gold...better than that, is platinum. A treasure!
My friend from California is personally acquainted with the drummer. He hooked us up with tickets to their show in South Florida a couple of months ago. I had ZERO recollection of the band, their name or music. I guess I was more into punk rock at the time. Then when I heard this song in concert, I remembered hearing it on the radio. They weren't my favorite band, but I dimly recalled three of their biggest hits. Their show was faultless, sounded exactly the way they sound here. Great showmen, with an added keyboard player who happens to be the drummer's wife.
You should also check out "Life Beyond LA", "How Much I Feel" and "Holdin On To Yesterday" by AMBROSIA. Oh, and Ambrosia the food is a fruit medley fruit salad.
Wow, so nostalgic, the early 80’s was a special time, heck the whole 80’s was a special time. I was in my 20’s the whole decade, it was a blast , and the music made it!
David Pack wrote this song for his wife while waiting for her at the airport....it took him about 30 minutes ..lol ..Outstanding songwriter and vocalist. They got a lot of FM radio airtime back in the day.Great reaction! 😊
David Pack was the lead vocal for a song named "Ground Zero" by Kerry Livgren. Livgren was the keyboardist for Kansas. He went solo and did an album Seeds Of Change. David Pack's voice absolutely soars during Ground Zero. Hope you get a chance to listen to the song.
Ambrosia played some amazing sounds. I use to love listen to them when I was in my late teens and they just kept on giving as time ticked on. Leo Sayer is another incredible music artist and I really followed him a lot in the 70s and 80s. Three of his good songs are, More Than I Can Say, When I Need You, and also, You Make Me Fill Like Dancing.
Do your research on who David Pack is and who he has worked with. He is a major hitter in the music industry.btw he wrote that song and called his good friend Michael McDonald (you may have heard of him) to see what he thought of the song, by the time MM got back to him it had already hit #1 on Billboard.
Ambrosia is the "Food of the Gods" and the creamy dessert was named after it, because it's so heavenly. It was rumored that eating Ambrosia made you immortal. All I know is that their music has an eternal quality to it. Nice reaction. Dive deep. Peace
Such a great song to sing along with. Great commercial sounding song. Their earlier songs where a little more progressive, sounded different, but were excellent as well.
Great reaction and selection kids. Your dad has great taste Chod. Holding on yo yesterday is probably my favorite by these guys. Because I do. God Bless.
I had great hair in my teens, long and thick. Parted in the middle and feathered on the sides. It looked amazing and all I ever used on it was gold colored balsam shampoo and my blow dryer.
Awesome video guys. Hey I had a request I think y’all will really really appreciate the talent and beauty of this song. The band is Journey and the song is mother and father.
Ambrosia is the nectar of life! I've also heard nextar of the gods. Ambrosia was the name they chose second around mid to lates 70s. David Pack wrote this song in 1979. It was out & shot up the charts in 1980.
Thank you for doing the live performances! I loooove Ambrosia but never saw this. It’s phenomenal. I know there are those who say the studio/album version is better but with live it’s just that. Live. That voice is butter. 👌🏼👌🏼 btw that shampoo is called Mane N Tail shampoo.
Wow..... I had very long hair back in the 1960s. Believe it or not my mom turned me on to "horse shampoo". One brand was called Mane and Tail. She was born and raised on a farm and had all these unusual things since they didn't go to the store very often and they used what was on hand at the farm.
Try "You're the only Woman" next. That shampoo is called "Mane 'n Tail". It was really popular back in the day. I have a bottle. It's works good for my oily hair and it reallly was used on horses too.
Ambrosia is a very talented and eclectic group. They started off with quasi-progressive material on their first album and then over the course of their next two albums Life Beyond L.A. and Somewhere I've Never Travalled they gravitated towards softer radio friendly tunes. But they were always melodic and nicely arranged songs. Their first hit Nice, Nice Very Nice is a fave of mine. Also "Cowboy Star" is a interesting track that features a beautiful string arrangement.
Ambrosia members and Pilot members played on producer Alan Parsons Tales of Mystery and Imagination. Also David Pack and Parsons have some videos of acoustic covers of Beatles songs that are really nice
It was a different world then. In 1971 some friends and I drove to New York City. We were unmarried so the males and females had to stay in separate rooms. Back then bands made their money by performing in small cities and towns as they traveled. The males and females were separated so traveling might have been a problem since the crew was likely male. That's how I figure it.
David Pack is the oh so talented lead singer & Guitarist who wrote this song. To see he still has the vocal talent check out this live performance along with smooth jazz sax player, Mindi Abair. He still has it. th-cam.com/video/bVneovnZqkE/w-d-xo.html
I use horse shampoo. It's better if you buy in the pet section. It helps with moisture and breaking which promotes hair growth and makes hair look thicker. Totally tested and safe... ❤️
If you want a slow romantic song that is very sexual but not graphic or maybe it is. I don't know what is best way to describe it. Just take a listen to "Miracles" by Jefferson Starship. Maybe sensual is the word. It also has some saxophone in it and is also has a woman in the band Grace Slick.
Why would her first thoughts go to a sexual perspective? Gross. The music is about love, respect, happiness. Its unsettling and sad she chose to be tacky. Too much social media on undeveloped brains. The host seems more tuned into the joy this music brings.
man, is that your wife? if so, she may not know a lot about "music" , but, goddamn she got the gist of the song right of the bat- " this is baby making music" . BOOM.
Nothing like the 70s and early 80s for music like this. Smooth and easy on the ears
If you like very smooth, sugary, romantic, soft rock, nobody does it better than Ambrosia
You can argue "Bread" deserves that claim.
🤔 I wonder if Spandau Ballet singing TRUE or Player sing BABY COME BACK would make your list?
@@zeppelinfan9360 What about toast?
And?
@@gottabeemee nope Ambrosia is at the top! That guy also wrote those ❤️ songs!

And that killer Tenor Sax work was by the unforgettable Cornelius Bumpus, who worked mostly with Steely Dan for years before his untimely passing.
And the Doobie Brothers
And the Doobies.
RIP Cornelius , he also was in the Doobie Bros and super nice person.
This is serious baby making music!!

Thanks 👍
Back in the day they not nearly so vulgar as today’s lyrics so they are clearly talking about the real thing in love!💕👍🏻✌🏻
I’m guessing you haven’t had a look at AC/DC’s lyrics!

Severely underated band who should have had a lot more recognition at the time. Their music has stood the test of time.

Yes Ambosia salad! A mixture of jello, fruit and marshmallows!
They had sooo much competition. It was sink or swim. They obviously had the best swimmer.
David Pack, voice of an angel.

Laughed out loud at "This is baby makin' music." That it is, Dee, that it is.
The term "ambrosia" comes originally from Greek mythology. It is the sustaining food of the Gods.
Cool. I always thought Ambrosia came from the salad. There really is a salad called Ambrosia.
