Sounds like nothing else. I've never heard anything like this. Just pure Great Lennon. What a magical song this is? One of his best groove, if I may say so. Thank you John for your inspiration!
@@graham6229 Did you listen to the audio. He begins by playing an acoustic guitar. Then, on Only the Lonely, he plays one again. I know the difference between an acoustic sound and an electric one since I play.
Very typical John, always impatient, always funny and always swearing. It’s so hard to imagine this down to earth man was the same man who created all of those amazing songs and that remarkable catalog. The same man who was actually there during now the legendary and mythical Hamburg, The Cavern, Beatlemania, Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt Pepper, White Album, Abbey Road. This was that genius and yet he seems so unaware of his genius. Miss him everyday.
I have a very similar Stratocaster from right around 1980..except in green with a green headstock..and it wasn’t the “Strat”..still just the good old Fender on it. But gold hardware and a genuine ebony fretboard. We opened up the neck recently and found a couple of initials and a signature…and stamped with “Custom Shop” which apparently just came together that year. The signature we traced to a guy who had been there forever and probably worked on stuff back to the days of Hendrix. Still don’t quite know what to call it other than an 1980 Stratocaster..(though I do seem to recall that Fender had a big-headstock 1979-80 crossover “25th Anniversary” edition that year as well.
Wow, fantastické 👏👏♥️ Miluji album Double Fantasy, mé nejoblíbenější ♥️ Prosím o více písní sessions z tohoto alba, prosím o Im loosing you,ta je moje top nej písnička ❤❤
BRILLIANT PIECE OF WORK...THANK YOU OUR JOHN LENNON...YOU ARE L❤️🔥VED UNTIL THE END OF TIME AND THEN IN HEAVEN...This song is posted on my Facebook page ❤️
I always think, take John’s songs from Double Fantasy, remove Yoko’s tracks, and add John’s Milk and Honey tracks. If John had spent the time finishing those tracks, instead of working on Yoko’s, we’d have an amazing Lennon-only album. Yoko could’ve had a twin album like with Plastic Ono Band and then everyone’s happy.
10 years previously...the Guess Who put out "Laughing"..... which has an eerily similar opening chord progression.....It's a familiar part of other songs tho too.....
Why do you love God so much? Because He's really nice. How nice? I just told you. Does He protect you day and night? Yes. He always has. What about Jesus? What about Him? Oh, nothing.
Yoko decreed that session musicians play on Double Fantasy, which resulted in an overproduced, limp and boring album. I remember when “Starting Over” came out. It wasn’t met with a lot of enthusiasm. People were happy he was back but not greatly impressed with the single. Remember that John hadn’t had much success in his solo career . . . a few great numbers (Imagine, Mind Games, Whatever Gets You Through the Night) but a lot of quickly written topical crap. Then he was murdered. Then everything changed.
Yeah, that's not too far off the mark. Personally I thought Mind Games was a better song than many give it credit for. Loved playing the circular progression on my 12 string. And I also really liked Starting Over, enjoying the tight driving shuffle feel and that soaring melody - as well as just hearing John on the radio again. Also really loved Costafine Town hearing clearly George's input. They all had a strong gift for melody.
I really wish that album didn't have such cheap sounding production. It's sickening. A sound more like this would've been better. John was always more endearing when he sounded more raw and honest, like 'Hold On' or that 'Bless You' demo.
do you know that actually a raw remix version was released in 2010 as Double Fantasy Stripped Down, and yeah it's fascinating th-cam.com/video/gGOeNWEAEGY/w-d-xo.html
One of John's best solo songs.

Such a talent for finding the clear end result in his mind.
This song is great, you can feel New York, Gershwin, Tin Pan Alley,, Broadway… Lennon absorbed it all ! Pure music !
John got such a great sound out of that acoustic. He had such a great feel.
Its a Fender Stratocaster not an acoustic.

@@MrAschiff This starts out acoustic, then at 0:35 he plays electric, then later he plays acoustic. Yes, I listened to the audio.

Such alot of creative energy and he sounds vibrant and happy with it. Love him.

Yes , every day
Well put!
Это совсем не так. Он гений легко и просто . И в нём сочетается всё , он обычный человек и в тоже время гений в музыке.
It’s not hard to imagine that at all. In fact, it’s easy if you try 😉

John holding “the strat” a special edition fender came out with lacquered brass knobs ..candy apple red with cap..🤙🏻

Dead at 40. Still alive in spirit and imagination.
Deeply flawed, but aren't we all.
I guess no pun intended in the adjective you used in describing how John writes... it definitely took "IMAGINATION"..
❤love this… It’s so cool. Long live Lennon ❤
i miss john he was a riot
😂
John Lennon got me though my life so far and still does now.

Fascinating!!!
I hope these sessions are released commercially sometime. Maybe the Double Fantasy Ultimate Mixes set.
“Make me the man of my dreams” …if I heard that right.. Yet again, brilliant ~

Good to see more of the Double Fantasy session. The Milk and Honey's "I'm Stepping Out" will be a long video.
Musical genius, gone way too soon

Another gem. Thank you.

Yes, but somehow here Elvis with a resonant Liverpudlian accent comes out sounding unmistakably like John Lennon!

Hmm. Lucky they made it this bussines those days.

Very disappointing return by John, leaving England after making Imagine stultified his inspiration and particularly innovation.
LAME. The whole Double Fantasy album was "LAME".
The Yoko songs were lame. Not Lennon
And yet here we are 44 years later, we are still talking about it.
