Lionel Messi spent most of his career playing for club Barcelona in La Liga, Spain... He won every title available to him w/ the club before he turned 30... But he always fell short playing for Argentina national team from 2006 to 2019.
Messi played 2 yrs in France for club Paris St. Germain (PSG) and won 2 Ligue 1 titles... Unfortunately, at age 30 - 35, he was no longer in peak form (He went pro at age 17) and wasn't able to win as many club championship titles.
His greatest accomplishments came late in his career when he helped win Copa America 2021 for Argentina... American champions Argentina beat European champions Italy in the Finalissima... and then, finally won the World Cup for Argentina in 2022 against France.
The WC final Argentina v. France in 2022 was deemed the "greatest WC final of all time" as Argentina won the tie-breaker 4 -2 after the match ended in a 3 -3 tie.
Lionel Messi will be age 37 this year, playing his last Copa America for Argentina in 2024... He signed w/ club Inter Miami in the MLS and said he plans to retire there - he also helped signed to Inter Miami his former Barcelona teammates Jorda Alba and Segio Busquets (both from Spain) and Luis Suarez (from Uruguay)... and is reportedly looking at bringing Argentina striker Angel DiMaria to the club before they both retire... Luis Suarez also plans to retire in Inter Miami.

He wasn!t worse after the age of 30, Barca was. Neymar left, they kicked out Suarez, Messi was alone. The team had declined. He couldn't do it all alone.

@@elizabethcsicsery-ronay1633 It happens... I mean, Pele was 29 when he played his last World Cup in 1970.
Maradona was not at his peak at age 33 but he was still great.
Yeah, Barca declined for lack of a formidable striking team... and PSG made the mistake of not centering the team around Messi.

    • @JaviernoMilei
      @JaviernoMilei 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Messi didn't fail Argentina, Argentina failed Messi by putting bad coaches and not making the team about HIM, that's how we won at the end.
Also 2014 could have been ours but Germany took it at the end, I blame Higuaín, Lavezzi and Palacios for that one.

@@JaviernoMilei Man, football is a game... the players are human and make mistakes... coaches can only do so much.
At the end of the day, the winner of a game can only be decided by the 11 players on the field... Not by Messi - he can only do so much as the G.O.A.T.
Argentina won 2022 because they did not slip up... they had Dibu Martinez and Messi and a team that finally won the World Cup.
Argentina was the better team in 2014, but they made 1 slip up in 120 minutes and it cost them the game.
Look at Portugal... they had Cristiano Ronaldo... but they lost bad in 2010... lost bad in 2014... lost in 2018... lost in 2022... the best striker can only do so much. The team has to win the game.
If they lose, that's on them.

9:47 : "This brotha is Magical!" -- Yep! There's even a youtube channel dedicated to him called Magical Messi. Seriously though: he's beaten every record (by far), won everything there is to win multiple times, and to top it off, a Copa America and a World Cup. And now, he's breaking records in the US's MSL, and already won a cup too! in less than a year!! He's been at this level since 2007, or 08 roughly, and at 37 (!!) he's competing (and winning) against 20 year-olds. Magical indeed. We won't get a player like this again for another 25 years.... or maybe ever?

Bro, watching the highlights is awe inspiring, but watching those games live, knowing that anytime he got the ball something magical could happen, even when the club wasn't doing great, he was still doing plays like this in every game. To be honest, you could do not only 20 min compilations, you could do hours and hours and you would still be mesmerised... but like I said, watching his games life when he was on his primer (and still nowadays when he's fully fit) has the emotion of watching him do the impossible, again and again and again.. cannot tell you how many times he made me happy...

But messi is more than the sport itself, it is a complete and best footballer to ever lived. He is the G.O.A.T because he didn't just push the ball into the goal net like most strikers, he will created plays that ended in his goals or assists to team mates . I have a of respect for CR7 as his sheer hard work and dedication has enabled him to have a truly staggering career. But in my humble opinion CR7 doesn't get in my Top 5 of all time. What I will say is I'm almost CERTAIN if you asked every coach of every club in the world's top 5 leagues if they could have a prime Messi or prime CR7 for 10 years to build their club around I guarantee at least 85% would choose Messi. It's not just his goals, he brings so so much more to a club. I absolutely love the guy.
If anyone's wondering my Top 5 would be
    5.Cruyff
    4.Zidane
    3.Maradona

Great reaction, he makes it seems so easy, but professional futbol (or soccer) players are literally capable of 1v4 normal dudes, you can't get a ball past them or take the ball from them and Messi makes them look like children that don't know what they are doing lol-
He's pretty old now, (37 years old) but he had a great finish for his career, he won the last Copa America, Finalissima (which is the best team from Copa America vs the winner of Euro Cup) and the World Cup (people say it was rigged cause they didn't see the matches, it was really hard fought and it was NEVER easy, except vs Croatia in the semis)
People sometimes say Cristiano Ronaldo is better, I just think those people are just latent homosexuals that love his body but not the art of football, Messi has GOAT passing, dribbles, goals, nutmegs, 1v5 goals, etc.
Cristiano is a good player, for a human.

Messi, at his physical peak, had the highest acceleration in football history to me. He hit 20 mph in a, 10 yard run with the ball at his feet while being guarded by 3 opponents in the 2015 copa del rey final against athletic bilbao.

Yes, you have watched greatness. Yes, it is expected to have the newer GOATS to be better than the old ones because the older ones were the pioneers of the techniques of today, the newer rules protect the offensive players much more than in the past, and the medical techniques, physical therapies, and shoes of nowadays are far superior. However, it is rare to have a GOAT who so far surpasses the greats of yesteryears. And both Messi AND Ronaldo have surpassed those greats by a huge amounts, with Messi the superior player in almost every way to Ronaldo, but not by a whole lot. What Ronaldo relies on, one loses a lot of it in age, so Messi is still the most dangerous man of Argentina, while Ronaldo cannot make the starting lineup of Portugal due to age.
