Designer Lucie Ayres shares her secret for adding warmth to a stark, modern California home. The dramatic roofline, a showstopping 12-foot metal door, stone floors and black cabinetry throughout make this home the epitome of modern architecture. Lucie’s solution? To counterbalance hard design elements with softer organic shapes and forms. By incorporating natural materials like jute and wool, a palette of earth tones and soothing images of nature, Lucie creates a simple, elegant and welcoming environment for her clients.

THIS is a BEAUTIFUL HOME! I love how you broke down everything, especially how you warmed up the contemporary space by adding the natural elements! The way you broke down WHY you kept the artwork in the hallway neutral opposite the dark doors was eye opening, I hadn't thought about it like that before!

Lovely! I love that there's the right balance of warm and cool, the spaces are light and airy without being stark. 'Clean' is what I'd call it.
Love the addition of natural elements throughout and the elegant, relaxed aesthetic overall, the practicality of the furnishings and an outstanding outdoor space. The icing on the cake for me is the bathroom. Really special!
My least favourite aspect was the nursery.
    Great job! 👏

Love the home but not the Hermés blanket. My favorite room is the bedroom. Lovely.

Oh dear, I was going to say so too.
But I really love the home. There's a really good balance of warm and cold and very practical furnishing. I especially love the wall art and photography.
      The outdoor space is outstanding!

Love it. Lots of natural light. Yes, the entrance gives a cold feeling but gradually the house becomes warmer with natural elements and color. And I love the teak bench.

It looks cold and uninviting….beautiful ……. but wouldn’t want to live there and I don’t think guests would feel comfortable visiting. It lacks……personality. Maybe if you put in some timber floors it would warm it up a bit…..

The place is looking good and I love the simplicity of it. I'm digging the elements that are natural along with the superb photography but why oh why oh why why why are you staying "zjjjjuuuuute".. The word is jute. It's very simple. Jute, jute, jute, practice that. Mercy! At least you are not wearing a backpack like Anne-Marie Barton.

bright white walls...I can't imagine living in a sterile bright white walls home...thought we were past this. I mean, it doesn't even get dark at night, it's just BRIGHT WHITE WALLS. BLAH.

Overall a great job and love the frameless internal doors….but….I am so not a fan of the kids room and the kitchen is a major let down. I would definitely re do both those rooms. Seeing the powder room wallpaper next to the wallpaper in the kids room makes my eye twitch.😅. The kitchen is predictable and has no personality. Lovely white oak with a modern door profile would have warmed up the space and would have looked so chic. So disappointing….

It's an otter, not a beaver.

    • @plaidraven6068
      @plaidraven6068 2 ปีที่แล้ว

🤣 First it was the "field" ... uh no, that's marsh... then the beaver-otter! I was watching this on TV and had to shut it off because I simply couldn't listen to her anymore. Right there, beaver (otter), that lost me!
(I had to come find the house online tho to save for some ideas; our home has the exact same lines after a 90s remodel.)
