This is one of the main reasons I farm with old tractors. The only wires I like go to headlights and 12 volt plugs for guidance systems. I’m sure I would enjoy all the fancy amenities newer tractors come with but it seems like a lot of the newer tractors spend more time in the shop hooked up to a computer than they do hooked up to a disc. I enjoy watching you work on them though. My son wants to be a tractor tech so he gets a lot of info off your videos. Thanks for doing these videos.

Your grandfather was absolutely right. I have run into similar scenarios being in the business. There is a percentage of people you'll never please or satisfy no matter what length you go to for them. As for electric parts, some people would never believe how many bad parts out of the box I've seen in my lifetime. They can really make you start to second guess yourself. Moral of the story is always test what you install before suspecting something else. That's the difference between a guy who knows his diag work, and the guy who just shotguns parts at it Great story Warren, I enjoyed this one a lot! Take care!

Good video, good work. Only way if unsure is to pull the assembly like you've done. 12188 fault trigger happens around 60mm of applied value, it self calibrates all the time. Critical part is the setup on these after replacing the pads. I'm sure you've found it anyway but the distance between the cable eye and the back of the bracket where the cable sits needs to be 175mm or 6.9" with 67lbs pull force applied to the lever, often better with a good strap to get a good pull on it at maximum force. Once cable is fitted, should give you correct readings with your service tool then. "Inc" is the inclinometer or accelerometer down in the well in front of the radiator (little squre box with 3 pin connector), used to measure longitudal forces on the tractor in ones with suspended front axle and deceleration rate in emergency braking application of the EPL. "SC" is then simply Stroke Calibration for the applied and released mm value of the cable movement. Have seen pads in worse shape than that and could get into worse shape than those if not set properly after repair. Good luck with it!

57:00 that is too true man, same with some electronic restoration work I was doing when there was such thing as spare time lol. One fella dropped off an old HMV radiogram last year sometime and since then life has been truly crazy, it was more or less finished electronically just hadn't had a minute to reassemble it and do some cosmetic/structural work, only last month did we hear from the owner (whose number I'd managed to lose so couldn't contact sadly) and he couldn't have been more understanding. Now, the flipside of this experience, I'm not even going to entertain speaking to the other guy again because he was just like your powerstroke guy. The ones like Richard (The HMV's owner) are the ones you welcome back with open arms, the others just naturally drift away if you say it how it is.

A lot of farms hire Mexicans and when you ask them if they know how to use this tractor they always answer yes because they want the job so bad. To be honest I really avoid driving other farmers tractors because I never know how to use the controls. If I see a tractor with joysticks and computer screens I don't walk away - I RUN ! Did quite a bit of calibration in the service. From my experience, once you get the full mechanical operating range figured out and set, then you have to adjust the indication from the electronic sensors to be 0% -100% for the range of operation from stop to stop. My guess is that the tractor might have a different variable in the range, but I think it's probably intended to show brake wear over time as the range indications change.

  • @oldfarmer4700

My thoughts on the software that comes on cars, trucks and tractors. You buy which ever, don't you own the thing? Tires, steering wheel, seat, engine all is part of it. So I believe you own the software loaded in it also. I think the manufactures should make it so you have the ability to do anything that is available that the repair shops have. Most tractors, cars and trucks sold now have displays so code should be written and means of displaying everything right on the display. It pisses me off that something as simple as changing a injector the owner is unable to do without having 10 grand in software on a laptop with all the different hardware to be able to connect to it. You own the tractor if you buy it that means all of it not just the part they think you should so they can fill their pockets holding you to the parts they control.

Out of a lot of brands, the New Holland shuttle levers I probably despise the most.... I don't think I'll ever get used to them, biggest thing being on how it goes to that "neutral" position every time making directional changes, plus having the "Park Engage" built in it as well. Do you access schematics through the texa unit as well or what platform are you seeing all your schematics off of? I am needing something like that to help me diagnose things. Thanks!

Never under estimate your professionalism, on charging for your time. Plenty of tight A. r. s. e. s. willing not to pay your worth.
Greetings from Dublin Ireland bless you

Some people you cannot teach. They will just do what they do and you suggesting otherwise doesent work. I am a driver operator of a vehicle for a large compony. They only care about bums on seats and trust we all know what where doing. Some of the blokes think the vehicle is a tank and nothing breaks it, Then it ends up off the road and they get a peice of junk to operate. Then its everyone elses fault. Ive been with other guys that floor it up to red lights and im hanging on to the belt when they stab hell out of the brakes sharply. Pisses me off and not nessesary. But they dont like me driving because i am to carefull and not getting my foot down. Yet i time my speed for the lights and keep her moving without speed and harsh breaking. In which case i am just if not as quick. I cant get my head around why they dont get that and drive so dam hard. Anyways enjoy your stuff and its nice to see people like yourself who still gives a dam.

Where do you get your wiring schematics for these? Have you purchased the service manual for the T.7000 series?
