ok, your translator is here again - I suppose I could do this for each purifier video. I also thought through the "jump drive core node". with the help of some fellow gamer, I think the name "驱核节点" could be more properly translated to "Cladding Node". 1:51 in chinese the Blink ability is translated to "闪现", and the word "闪" has the flash meaning. well this is not that different from the blink since the modder used the blink icon so that's good. 7:25 so the wording here is a mess... but basically, the Executive Council allows the barrack to train both Librarian ("Think Tank Chief", or director, or whatever. I will call them Librarian.) and the DTs. It also allows the Stargate to make the "Flare Focus Ship" - which I think is the Voidray, as the "focus" here may discirbe the attack method of it, Automated Arbiter is interesting, but Fleet Beacon is a unit? ok I am now as interested as Grant. 7:55 I think the "Inspiring" and the "Encourator" is the same unit, the upgraded version of the normal stalker you could make. I will call them Stalker v2 and other units the same way 8:20 It looks like while stalker v1 attacks fast but with low damage, stalker v2 actually works like a normal stalker - hits slower and harder. you might want both in an army, the balancing of "how much unit I want to specialize" would be interesting to consider. 14:10 it looks like the beeping is the... replacing sound for construction. I suppose a bunch of normal "ZEEEEEEEENNNNN" would be annoying too? 19:30 that spine on the left: "leave me alone you bully!" yeah, not too much new stuff today - but I do would like to know how the fleet beacon works... looks interesting.
Which meaning of "cladding" is it supposed to convey? I feel like "drive core node" is close to the sci-fi _theme_ of the original Mothership Core as the main space magic machine without the giant ship around it, whereas "cladding" itself feels like a mistranslation of its _function_ as a defensive support, essentially a shield or outer defensive armour layer. Not sure what the origin of Blink is to denote this type of ability (almost certainly in some way related to "moving within the blink of an eye" but there has to be a more direct origin), but in Eastern media it's also commonly referred to as "flash step". Bleach, Naruto and other vaguely "ninja"-adjacent power sets love that one so it's a pretty direct cultural equivalent even if it isn't a literal translation. The "Warp Stargate"/"Fleet Beacon" thing could simply refer to the tech requirement for "warping in" (building) the fleet beacon, replacing the need for a fleet beacon, or some rework of Warp Harmonization (the vanilla source of "Warp Stargates") itself having the fleet beacon as a tech requirement here. Due to the wording being very different from the other entries, and vanilla English using "opening warp rift" as the "training/building in progress" message for protoss stuff, I suspect this is a relatively uninteresting tech tree thing. Higher damage with a lower fire rate is a lot better on stalkers, mainly due to enemy armour and bursting things down right after using Blink. Small hits with a high rate of fire are mainly good to reduce overkill in large massed armies, which stalkers are not suited for without Blink micro to begin with (in comparison to units such as hydras or marines). The beeping is an in-world "construction started" SFX. Vanilla protoss has this "crystalline piercing hiss" sound instead. The placement sound (quick "fwit" for vanilla protoss, more of a "clunk" for terran, and a fart for zerg >.>) plays when you first confirm the build order not when construction is started by the builder unit.
@@PhotolossI think the Blink might be a reference to the Blink spell of D&D where the subject was repeatedly shunted back and forth between the material (normal) plane and the ethereal (invisible/insubstantial) plane. Blink meant that any attack would have a 50% miss chance since it was a coin toss whether you were physically present or not. It could also be used to wall-hack, since material plane geometry only applied half the time.
@@LuminousLead That sounds too far off, unless there was one prominent meme instance where someone used it more like a short-range teleport/sneak attack. The WC3 version is a bit closer since it's not actually instantaneous, but still doesn't come with any other features I expect from your description such as working without vision (in the physical realm), use for intangibility/mitigation of incoming attacks, or interaction with that game's version of the Ethereal status.
@@Photoloss Blink in older versions of D&D explicitly teleported you 2-10' around randomly. There's also blink dogs, who have the same ability as well as a controlled short-range teleport (dimension door). The other potential source is the late 90s TV show Charmed. The instant teleports there were "blink" as in "blink of an eye".
The translation of "warp" to "jump" and the lack of a space causing Grant to add "jump" to a lot of stuff is going to be one of those kind of funny recurring bits of this play through I think.
Hybrids: Why don't you just die? Overcharged Cannons: Purifier-shield, son. They hardened in response to physical trauma. Edit: my comment has warped in the memetal gear council xD
Chirp chirp my dude! Also I will never forget the legacy of the meme where the number of zerg was "Some" followed by "A lot" then "At least 2" followed by "Too many". As a side note I am so jaded on recycling but only with plastic. Since I know that plastic is rarely ever recycled. As it just isn't worth it for companies. As not only is it expensive, not only does plastic get weaker every time it is recycled. But they made the resin identification code (AKA what type of plastic is this) deliberately look like the recycle symbol to trick people. That said recycling aluminium is great. And is one of few materials companies happily recycle. Since it is way cheaper than making more and in fact recycled aluminium tends to be better than new aluminium. Being more durable and easy to use. To the point that some companies will ONLY use recycled aluminium.
This kind of thing happens far more than people realize. It's currently happening again as well, but I suspect this to not be the time, or place for such a topic. I'll just say that the recycling thing was motivated by greed and nepotism, as well as politics (it helped politicians get votes). Motivations being bad do not invalidate the truth value of a concept, just to be clear.

I'm loving this mod so far! As funny as it sounds, my favorite part is everything being stylized in the Purifier color scheme. I know that sounds silly, but I just love the look of it!
Tut tut tut Grant. You said 3 more minutes at 3:56 and finished the mission at 6:57 because of the blink missclick. But watching you demolish the DT mission is always fun.
If the counter had been working, I would have personally been tempted to save the game at 1.5 billion and then essentially AFK and see how long it takes for the zerg to break through.
In a way this has really opened my eyes to how important translation is for gaming - trying to learn new mechanics even when they are explained in clear language while trying to start a new mission is already hard, and putting that through mediocre translation is an extra layer of stress and time pressure to try and handle. Translation in games is something I've always vaguely known about in the back of my head as a thing but never personally encountered before.
It's always a weird balance with content creators because not only do many viewers find the reading part boring, they also want to see "genuine" first impressions at the same time so he can't just pre-read without recording either. On the other hand _not_ reading can lead to a lot of frustration with custom mechanics as well as missing really fun stuff.
I love the overcharged defense ye did grant. You defended all over them guardians. I find it pretty cool that despite the low stats of the flashknights attack it can actually take down the flying hybrid decently.
I think there's another way to mitigate chirping: It doesn't place them until it finished the last action. So if you shift-click up a little route for it and then shift click all the buildings it will place them all simultaneously at the end of its route with only a single chirp.
Manly static defense has a fun variant in Supreme Commander: You charge towards the enemy base, but instead of trying to breach its defenses head on with your army you use the cover of your army to slam up your own firebase with a set of static area shields and defenses and then a giant load of Tier 2 static artillery to mininuke the enemy base to kingdom come without having to get past their point defenses.
Just wanted to say that been loving your content Grant. 21:00 I think those zealots, the new names escape me, did upgrade after a moment. The charge did interrupt it but it didn't seem to cancel it, looked like they started upgrading as they calmed down.
This really feels like how the purifiers would act in universe, just the entire drop pod army just clearing out the entrie northeast path. I mean if there wasn't a map boundry the purifiers could have easily purified Shakuras of the zerg, no temple and planet destruction neeeded. Also just love the horde of Sentinels/Legionaires clearing out the zerg.
The canon Purifiers still have limited numbers. They could have cleansed the planet using their own WMD within Cybros allowing it to be re-settled later, but they wouldn't have the army numbers to actually hold out let alone push back against the zerg on a planet-wide scale.
I wasn't really paying attention, working on putting a coat together, and then i look up and see at 28:45 the entire population of shakuras on the upper cliff murdering baby Guardians in their egg sacs. Pretty sure more units and structures are up there then the main base.
reasonably sure its a regional thing, not sure why as they would use the same numbers as we do rather than using the characters for displaying the total number( that would be a HUGE headache). so it would make more since that the regional would just have a generic name/character/number. also, since its a Capitol B for the Billion, and most of the translated things have all lower case, im 90% sure its a regional thing over a translated thing.
Noticed this last mission too and really cemented it this time; I’m pretty sure that the whistling machine was pretty heavily inspired by the Promethean watcher from Halo. I'm loving this mod so far! As funny as it sounds, my favorite part is everything being stylized in the Purifier color scheme. I know that sounds silly, but I just love the look of it!
16:35 The upgrade applies to flash knights. It makes them "Encourators".
The building-warp chirp sound will haunt our dreams for a while
Who knew that that was Grant's one weakness? 😂😂😂
Solar Lance is actually changed. It leaves a burning Area behind.
Im pretty sure the 'jump' in front of the unit names in production structures is translated from 'warp in'
So the real Whistle Machine were the buildings we made along the way
Tut tut tut Grant.
So proud of grants character development with reading tooltips properly, especially at the start on the DTs!
1 units lost. Farewell, Dave. :(
18:40 Flash Knights are in fact listed in the upgrade ability.
I love the overcharged defense ye did grant. You defended all over them guardians.
I find it pretty cool that despite the low stats of the flashknights attack it can actually take down the flying hybrid decently.
I, for one, adore the chirping robots
glacius sounds greatcius, check if sentries can whistle
I think there's another way to mitigate chirping: It doesn't place them until it finished the last action. So if you shift-click up a little route for it and then shift click all the buildings it will place them all simultaneously at the end of its route with only a single chirp.
Manly static defense has a fun variant in Supreme Commander:
You charge towards the enemy base, but instead of trying to breach its defenses head on with your army you use the cover of your army to slam up your own firebase with a set of static area shields and defenses and then a giant load of Tier 2 static artillery to mininuke the enemy base to kingdom come without having to get past their point defenses.
Just wanted to say that been loving your content Grant. I always watched your main channel content but never actually watched any archives stuff until fairly recently (start of Perpetual Randomizer) and gotta tell ya I've been addicted. Just binging series after series of modded playthroughs. Keep doing what you're doing buddy, I'm hooked!
Modder be like - Trade deal:
You can build stuff easily
The game chirps everytime you do
The chirping reminds me of playing tower defences in wc3 and getting to hear "Summoning is complete" repeatedly :b
21:00 I think those zealots, the new names escape me, did upgrade after a moment.
The charge did interrupt it but it didn't seem to cancel it, looked like they started upgrading as they calmed down.
Grant i think your fire alarm's battery need changing
All million of them...
Thanks for being a happy camper! x)
And lets get some icecreams out of the freezer. 🍦
Thank you for your videos, Grant! You're amazing and I'm very glad to be one of your viewers.
I wasn't really paying attention, working on putting a coat together, and then i look up and see at 28:45 the entire population of shakuras on the upper cliff murdering baby Guardians in their egg sacs. Pretty sure more units and structures are up there then the main base.
God Bless GGG back in action and showing off in FORCE!
reasonably sure its a regional thing, not sure why as they would use the same numbers as we do rather than using the characters for displaying the total number( that would be a HUGE headache). so it would make more since that the regional would just have a generic name/character/number.
also, since its a Capitol B for the Billion, and most of the translated things have all lower case, im 90% sure its a regional thing over a translated thing.
Noticed this last mission too and really cemented it this time; I’m pretty sure that the whistling machine was pretty heavily inspired by the Promethean watcher from Halo. They look strikingly similar, and they even serve almost the exact same purpose (rezzing teamates, aerial support, and low damage harassment). I obviously can’t know for sure, but danggit if it wasn’t the first thing that I thought of lol. Love me Halo, Love me StarCraft, simple as :)
There is a reason why purifiers is a forbidden technology in LOTV
Happy to have you back! Also, Spawncamping on this mission? Finally we're getting the full co-op experience!
I wasn't expecting a cannon rush on a defensive mission. Grant decided to choose aggression against the aggressor, lol
The chirping sounds reminded me of all Commodore games. :-)
Remember people, if you ever get stuck, just blast on in with the dancey dudes. Sound advice for life.
The king has returned! And in style too, loving all the new units and names. I just wanna see what the “Think Tank Inspector” is.
18:28 Helldivers theme intensifies
Cannon rushing, the ultimate Protoss unit.
New GGG video. It does bring joy.
Ohhh, the armour piercing is probably so that the DT always one-shots hydras. That's a really neat detail!
Campaign hydras should have only 80 hp and thus would still die to 90dmg even without piercing, and even if the hydra has +3 armour.
Ok are we cool in the comments? I Love these pair of campaign mods so far and I respect Grant for what he is doing to continue these despite the haters
Nhaaa Have you ever seen Starcraft 2 General Chat? We should have that in these here comment sections! XD
@@TheBookOfAkersGamingWell I haven't in a long time so I'm not so sure if your joking or not most likely rather not
@@RikouHogashi starcraft 2 general chat for the NA servers is a hotpot of politics and can be either really nasty or fairly mellow depending on the time :)
@@RikouHogashi ;)
actually the solar lance is buffed(add ignite from coop karax)
The chirping will be in my nightmares today.
25:52 Those photons’ paths are arcing because of the dark presence of Amon’s momma
it looks like phoenix is doing that classic youtube point but without the red circles and arrows
Purifiers: Allow us to sing you the songs of our people.
🎶 chirp chirp chirp🎶
Grant:😐 please stop….
GGG: How many Zerg, Vorazun?
LotM: At least 12.
Glacius because we already pretty much know what the Immortal does because you played with it in the opening mission but the Sentry is completely new. Also the Sentry is one of those units that seems to just inspire creativity when people change it, heck even official blizz developers giving the Sentry a bonus anti shield attack is really unique for a unit that used to just be a guardian shield/force field bot (Literally)
"Just a guardian shield/force field bot" - Idra would like a word with you, but he already quit the game XD
Is there any upgrades on the cybernectis core or twilight council btw?
Welcoem back Grant. Just want to say that I love your content and am happy everytime a video comes out. Always love goin back to watch all the stuff you've put out, you're an awesome creator and keep up the fantastic work. Don't let hte haters win! keep doin' you.
I finished the whole Campaign with the mod.
The upgrade worked while the units stay still. Do not try to upgrade a moving unit.
Some unit like Collosi, Carrier, Tempest can only be singularly upgraded. U cannot upgrade a group of them.
And u could build several Forge for more upgrade charges.
I'm actually really enjoying the wonky translations; it makes kind of a nice change-up.
Everyone gives their homebrew bilblically epic names like "MINDFLAYER" "RAGNAROK CULTIST" "ULTIMATUM" "USURPER" "GOD-SLAYER"
And not that those names are bad but I'm kind of falling in love with "Whistle Robot"
That mothership core thingy seems good for cannon rushing.
Know what _isn't_ good for cannon rushing? Giant pre-built enemy zerg bases, which are like half of this campaign :/
Thank you for content! Greatly thankful for Legacy of the Void content
The man said 3 minutes and its was 3 minutes even to the ms damn we love you bro keep up the good work
I'm glad you're back. It was good to hear you laughing after this weeks incident.
Jimmy needs our help, and when someone pokes our Jimmy we poke back! To Korhal!
Good to see you cheerful again Grant, hopefully the craziness has subsided.
I love the idea that Chinese speedrunners, if they don't have the number of Zerg, just have to aggressively stare at the in-game timer to know when to press the button for the frame perfect end
Probably not how it works but imagine
This build makes me laugh cause it's like "so we don't need to leave shakuras... we just eradicate the zerg from it."
Hey Grant, just wanted to say thanks for the content. I‘m always looking forward to your videos!
Hello Grant, I never coment on YT. But I wanted to thank you for creating great content for us 😁 I’ve been watching your channels since first deathless run.
Thank you for making my days great
Karax would be proud of you, young turtle.
Giga Photon Cannon: The legacy of the Firstborn? MINE!
This drive core node should have been Hero Karax for coop commanders, where you can walk around and support your own power fields, similar to how he works in that one campaign mission.
Remove those instant pylons and instant turrets, only he can use them and give him attack speed buff kinda like his sentries, so you can actually keep him around defenses and units.
3 tier of upgrades for top bar(or 1 tier of passives) has auto gas, that works. And is somewhat changed.
Just so you know ☺️
Also u can hover over any unit from its production building and it would say if u can "upgrade" it
Hope all is well!!! Thank you and great work as always!!!!
(4:02) 3;57 into the game: 'yea this will take 3 more minutes'
(6:13) wins at 6;58: YOU LIED TO US! It was 3 minutes and 1 second, how dare you. XD
Super Static(-defense) Steve strikes suddenly!
Grant, always glad to see you canon rushing zerg.
