As you said, there will always be pain and exhaustion... chronic pain/illness doesn't go away so that's not changed... but you've done everything you possibly can to heal from your last procedure/surgery, gain your strength back and are listening to your body. I went to a class through my pain clinic here (Called "Pain 101") and they talk about the "Three P's" - pace, plan & prioritize. I just wanted to recognize how you've clearly done the work so you can manage the things within your control. Just recently discovered your videos & am enjoying your adventures with Harlow. Shades of Green is a great resort and my family has stayed there several times, both before & after the expansion. It was built by Disney as a small deluxe resort with just 300 rooms but they were the largest of any of the resorts. They weren’t really making a go of it as the theming was blah compared to the others & they changed the name at some point but eventually it was sold to the DOD. They seriously expanded it maybe 12-13 years ago which was when the parking deck was added too. Our last trip was just my aunt & I and we rented me an ecv from an outside company to have for the whole trip instead of just renting one in the parks and really took advantage of the closeness to the Poly as we went over there to catch the monorail on the days we spent at MK or Epcot. Btw, we saw a flock of turkeys on the golf course one day!
I stayed at Shades of Green in 1996 (about a year or two after the military bought the property) when my dad was serving in the Air Force and stationed at the joint air base (Hurlbert Field/Eglin AFB. Dad worked at Hurlbert Field) in Mary Esther. This was our first trip to Disney world (I went to Disneyland as a toddler) but I don't remember it. we went two other times since Dad retired from the Air Force (He retired as a Tech Sgt. and he's also a Gulf War veteran!) but during those times, we did not stay at Shades of Green even though according to their website, they still welcome retired veterans and their families.

I love the Haunted Mansion tree! I've been begging my mom to take us back to Disney. No spouse, no children (I'm 35 but single) and I am dearly missing it! It's been 5 years (we last went in Christmas 2013). It doesn't have to be Christmas, although I love the Christmas decorations and Cinderella's castle all lit up (plus the fireworks are awesome). One day, I'll be an annual pass holder! :-)

I went to Disney in 2015 and since my dad was in the Air Force for almost 25 years or so, I’m pretty sure my family and I stayed in that hotel, I also didn’t really remember much. It was a dream though! Edit: when I saw you guys enter, I definitely knew I stayed in that hotel.
Jaquie where do you get your cool masks? I have to wear them in public and around others. I would love to have masks like you have. My body temperature dysregulation is so bad this yr and I've been bedridden since October with 1 maybe 2 up for a few hour days per week. I'm really struggling. Fortunately I have in home hospital bed. I'm struggling to eat anything and back on meal replacement shakes.
Pamela Woods they are Vogmasks, they are less expensive on Amazon. I use them also, and check both the Vogmask site and Amazon to see who has the best price. I love them, they are so comfortable. Blessings to you.
The hotel looks great, but it is very strange. A disney hotel for military members? What has disney to do with the military? Disney is a fun place for children and should not have anything to do with the military. These are two different things, but maybe it's normal in the US that disney is in touch with the military. I don't have problems with the military, but these are things that should not be at an place like this for kids...
Natasha Sigutab As an American I just see it as a way for the company to thank them. The armed forces get discounts on a lot of things here for the same reason. Some children grow up traveling/living on different bases if their parent is enlisted. The routine and familiarity might be comforting.
Please stop referring to this as a “Disney Hotel” for Military Families. It is not a “Disney Hotel” because it is not owned or operated by Disney. Unless you have a military ID you cannot even view this property and get thru the gate. So your title suggests otherwise.

Shades of Green is amazing, the restaurant downstairs is an amazing buffet that has a different menu everyday, they even have a breakfast buffet.
