@16:31, If Boris had played h5, then Anand could have replied Nf6+ (forcing the king to move) and next move, Anand can win the h5 pawn by playing Nxh5 and it will be 2 connected passed pawns and 2 pawn islands for Boris Gelfand. So, this variation would have also been running in the Maestro's mind
