I always found it hilarious when someone would go out to check for balrogs to never return or die in the cabin. The crimson balrog would insta kill you and if you went to the lowest place in the ship you would be killed never knowing there were actually 3 crimson balrogs on the ship. good old days
I remember when every aspect of Maplestory was to get you to socialize with people: from party quests to waiting for the god-damned boat to limited maps. Now, with the portals, hyper rocks, and everyone so powerful that making a party is detrimental, you're better off going solo.
I remember when my level 43 cleric was on the bottom of the ship and i saw a balrog above me and i got soooo excited and took a screenshot of it yet i still managed to get back into the ship. I never forgot that moment ever and never will...
remembered how funny it was when people always trick others to come out cause its safe or free mesos or rare items and than they get killed by balrogs and we all just laugh it off, its was cruel but was fun and funny.... good times
HAHA ya, sometimes i went outside with darksight, come back in and say "see guys, its safe!" then my friends go out and they die ROFL. In retrospect, it probably was a bad idea cuz when i reach orbis, I'd have to wait for them to take another ship anyway hahaha =P
It angers me that I cannot time travel back to when maplestory wasn't attacked by the black mage. Not only did he terrorize the maple world, he pretty much terrorized the "social economy" of all the players...it's hard to find a conversation nowadays on maple, and people are all just braggish. it's really disgusting...bring back old maple...
MARIOID I see what you mean that it might not be Maple's old social ecosystem, but it could be a different but equally as satisfying one in MS2, who knows.
I remember going back and forth on the ship just to meet new people and play Omok. Ch 1 was always full of new faces. After they added that Ereve place, the boat was always deserted because it was faster to reach Orbis through there :(
I remember going onto the ship for the very first time. I was just relaxing on the ships flag and wondering why people were going inside the cabin in such a rush. It was right then I hear the music and see that crimson barlog spawn. I literally was scared and tried to rush back inside. While desperately having my character run down towards the cabin, the flying barlog touched me and instant-death. I respawn thinking I would be at orbis, I was back at Ellice. Haha, I was so pissed.
I listen to this and I want to go back to MS, so I redownload it. I quit again when there's no-one on the boat in Scania channel 1. have done this multiple times over the last couple of years.
Memories 1. Dropping items waiting for a noob to snatch it only for you to pick it up again (i was a victim of this :( ) 2. Meeting cool people 3. Talking to people in the cabin. 4. Seeing the balrog ship come and run to the cabim 5. Try to take on balrog 6. Miss and die 7. Going to the lower floor thinking your safe 8. Being that cool guy who could get to the top of the ship 9. Using this ship 10. Showing of you sick skill and chairs. And chairs that dont burn you shitty 512 mb of ram Fun fact is that this ship still exists. Just no one uses it thanks to the stupid pantheon portal.

As a kid I remember being a level 20 thief and giving int to him so he can be a "smart" thief. I would eventually get bored of hunting, and go on the ship on Orbis not to actually go there, but to talk to people on the ship. I mess that.

i had the awsome retz in the tower to korean folk town every spawn on most of the platforms around 4-6 per lightning was good exp from 60-70 ;p awsome time seeing those lvls go at 70 so happy to become a Mage
i remember back like 2.5 years ago or so, i used to play maplestory (But in an u.s.a server because they had mush more stuffs than the europe server) and i remembered that this theme used to be my favorite. When i were in that ship the first time i tryed to imagine me being in that ship and feeling the wind blowing on my hair and the sunshine shine on me :)...but then...there where...BALROGS!...they killed me and...you prbebly know the rest...LOL

It used to cost like 80k to get on the ship. As a beginner i found it so hard, having to save every penny just to get to Orbis for once. Now it's like free and easy and the only problem is waiting time. xD
I miss going on boat rides.... no one does them anymore...... it is kinda a shame how the game turned out to be run my a corp that ruined it. The music will always hold a place in my heart along with the good memories that I made in this game.

It wasn't really challenging, it was just an enormous grind. The PQs were fun, but grinding alone was always the quickest way to level. That being said, I had a lot of fun times on this game!

Yeesh, 60-70 was the worst, especially since I played an ice mage so it was those damn orbis cat things all day. Took ages. Playing a mage kind of sucked because you were like, God from magic claw until like level 40, and then everyone was better than you for 40 of the longest levels in the game... Really it was the people I played the game with that kept me coming back. That, and something about exploring in MapleStory was really fun. Ludibrium coming out was NUTS
Think otherwise if you will, it was cruel losing 10% of your exp because the game doesn't inform you about the cabin or the fact high level flying magic monsters SOMETIMES arrive on the boat and wreck you, god I felt so VIOLATED the first time, definetely became more open about travel when it became free for the trip~
