    I picked up one today & it worked well to replace a few rivet nuts on a pair of truck running boards that had stripped out.
    I had considered just buying the Rivet nuts & winging it trying to install with homemade set up,
    But couldn’t find them locally anyway, glad I bought the tool… as I replaced all 3 that I needed to in less than 5 mins.

    I’m getting ready to replace the fender flares and extensions on my (original owner) 1997 Jeep TJ. I’ve watched about a dozen videos on the process…and it apparently can be a “bear” of a job. Due to corrosion, access, etc….many found a tool they called a “nutzert”, “nutsert” “nut press” (their terms) invaluable to successful flare replacement. I’m in my mid-60s…I’m relatively sharp and somewhat capable in the garage….but I had no Idea what they were talking about. Did a little “googling”…found your video….and all was clear! Nice job on this video….and nice job helping “this old dog” learn a new trick! BTW….you live in gorgeous country! I spent a lot of time in western NC and eastern TN while managing my late parents estate! While I love New England, I could be tempted to relocate down there! Thanks again, amigo!

    I own one of those not rivet guns and it works great for me I've had it for a while almost a year no problems with it and I work on ATVs and never had a problem or any issues with it I would recommend it for anybody

    THanks - I used mine for the first time today.. It took me a few minutes to figure out that there is a nut in the capsule for each mandrel. Once I figured that out, it worked great.

    I plan on using this to install affordable offroad a pillar lightbar mounts on my jeep cherokee. They came with self tapping bolts and they fit so poorly that when i went to install the lightbar the bolts pulled right thru the sheet metal on my a pillar. Now i got silicone plugging the holes until i get the rivnut. I'm hoping it'll work coz i wasn't too crazy about putting holes in my rig anyway. Lessons learned about being cheap that's for sure.

    So like everyone said, "the handles being longer would help, but it works".

    Good to know. I have been thinking about getting one for some time, and I think as much as I would use one, the Harbor Freight one would work just fine. Thanks for testing it out for us.

    Just wanted to give you some warning when using them. Don’t use impacts to install bolts you can actually hurt it’s holding power and make the hole bigger and then your stuck using other tools to get the bad rivet out.

      Lol. Great post. I would think that would go without saying, however I'm sure you saved someone a ton of grief. Although I'm not sure the person that applies an impact gun to this solution is someone that would actually read the comments.

    Hi , the handle only 10 inches long , does it hard to press on steel nut ? Thanks

    The instructions for every variant of that tool all omit how you can adjust the stroke so you don't have to work with the handles open ridiculously wide.

    • @aerohard
      @aerohard 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      First off, start with the nut screwed on until the mandrel end is even with the end of the nut. If you don't have a reasonable grip, there is a round knurled locking nut at the base of the nosepiece that you can loosen in order to screw the nosepiece down farther or up if needed. This should be adjusted for every size and grip of nut you use. Proper adjustment may cost you a nut to get right, but once set it is repeatable. Second best piece of advice: this isn't a POP riveter, you don't crank down until something goes "pop", LOL. It takes more skill to know you are cranking enough unless you can dial in a depth stop that keeps you from stripping the nuts. I sold rivet nuts and odd tools on Ebay from 2008 to 2020.

    Spiral bits are so bad drilling sheet metal.
    It would be nice if they included a stepped cone drill bit in the kit. With each step the right diameter for the next size rivnut.

    • @aerohard
      @aerohard 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      LOL, do you have an "American" tool in mind to offer us poor folks on TH-cam? POP, Marson, Avdel, AVK and Rivet King aren't selling any hand tools made in the USA. Also, unless you are a US mil or gov customer, the fasteners available also won't be made in the USA. I know this because I ran contracts in the aerospace industry since the late 80's.
