My music taste was changed because of Lorde. I thank my music teacher for telling me to memorize ''Perfect - By ed sheeran'' to play in a ukelele, instead, I found Perfect places.
the way Lorde understood Scorpio season and the new moon in Scorpio on my birthday this Thursday with "Don't let them see this coming". love this video and song.
I loved the entire album but Stoned at the Nail Salon and Fallen Fruit are the ones that my heart keeps making me repeat, feels like autumn, reminds me of older times, it hurts, I love the mixed feelings that brings me, I just really like this one
I am just blown away by this song and album. I know a lot of people have not been hugely receptive to Solar Power, but I think this era shows just how versatile Lorde is. She's not a pop star, she's an artist, and that's what she's trying to remind us.
Mi inglés es básico pero gracias al traductor debo decir que: es totalmente cierto, es un artista completo, al menos a mi, me hace volar la cabeza, estoy ansioso por ver más.
It’s that tone that almost sounds like a slightly driven guitar in the mid range, mixed with awesome layering and verb/delay. Edit: I understand if no one believes me, but I said that before the slightly driven mid range guitar solo with verb/delay.
This isn't normally my kind of music, but this song is simply incredible in the way that everything is put together. I've really come to enjoy this one.
I remember vividly when I was mesmerized by Royals back in 2013.. and now here I am, still listening to this majestic artist. Keep making new music Lorde, your arts will be classic!!
The ending is such great commentary on class disparity - when it comes down to it the rich will be comfortably escorted from the insupportable conditions caused by their inherited wealth and greed- while those less fortunate will be left to wither in the fires. Her escaping the dilapidated island in the very thing that fuelled its destruction (a vehicle) is a harrowing and profound image.
And the way I see it, there's also an element of use and throw away mentality. If you perceive all of this in a more meta sense, in Solar Power she sang about nature and energy but after the music video is done and something real is happening she's just leaving it behind. It could also be a commentary on Hollywood and capitalism exploitation.
This is amazing. I love how Ella is so brutally honest about her power and privileges (being able to have a ride away from the apocalypse), as well as her participation in destroying the planet as a global star. We can truly feel the complexion in her facial expression. Can't wait for the other videos shot on this beach. This album just keeps on giving me so many surprises as time goes by.
in which part you grasped her "sorry feeling" for touring and being a star? (who I love, but im conscious about it, like any other huge artists she def contributed big time)
This is a masterpiece. I always liked Lorde but I never truly connected to her music until now. Solar power is warm, hypnotic, healing music that makes you question and reflect about where we are going as a society. Just beautiful!
I really wish more people will appreciate this song as I did the first time I heard it. Lorde is the Music Artist of our generation who speaks more in her songs than just love, breakup, or lust. Finally, an artist who cares for Mother Earth. Thank you, Lorde ❤️
Believe me or not, but it's the first time that i'm really listening a song from Lorde and i can't believe how good this song sounds. It's truly heartbreaking. Love all the little details in the production and her voice!
I love Solar Power, people were not ready for this amazing era. Mainstream culture can fuck off. Lorde presented us with an amazing sound, amazing theme, fantastic cinematography, a giant respect for the world and for art and authenticity even when you are a massive pop star. Dont change her.
The truth is it was just too far of a departure from her previous work. Many artists have tried, most have failed. She didn't study history & was doomed to repeat it.
@@izy164 the song is about the effects of climate change and it’s especially a letter to prior generations to tell them that we’re living the aftermath of their actions, thus the symbolism of the fallen fruit.

Can you imagine a movie written, produced, directed, everything, by Lorde? Can you imagine that masterpiece?! Ooh, and the movie soundtrack would be amazing. Her storytelling is out of this world.
Lorde has made it clear that she's criticizing the anthropocene on the album - wellness culture and how it appropriates indigenous practices, for example - and that this MV represents a choice that her character is making. But, am I the only one who interpreted this as Ella commenting on and denouncing colonialism? As someone from South America who's really into studying history, I think there's a lot to unpack from a white person arriving in a beautiful and full of life island in the morning, exploring it (the character in Mood Ring also indulges and profits from the native culture), then leaving gracefully in the night, while everything's destroyed and everyone's desperate to save themselves. Brilliant work.
Coloniality hasn’t ended though - so the critique of the anthropocene and exploitation/fetishisation of Indigenous cultures is inherently a critique of colonialism, because it proliferates those things. This critique is relevant globally and in NZ especially so - Maori experience higher rates of imprisonment, poverty etc. though these patterns are reflected in Australia, Canada etc. all colonised nations. Post-colonialism can only be achieved if us European descendants in these lands cede power to First Nations peoples.
Okay, but isn't Lorde being a hypocrate with this album? I mean, she's criticizing all that, but still make her appearence in the governor's ball and release a version of her album in the NZ native people language. That's the low point in this album for me. Lorde says one thing, but doesn't have the courage of doing the thing, change her actions, make her choices towards the end of that exploration of nature and native people and culture.
@@empressoera How? She created that version after seeking the opinion of people working to protect & GROW the language? She also doesn't take the profits from it? As somebody from nz, isn't she in her way trying to respect the native language? I would've agreed with you if she didn't get the approval of people working to protect the language. A language can only grow if more people speak it, right?
@@empressoera I think your points are logical, and I admit that I don't know much about New Zealand's politics. But regarding Solar Power's Maori version, she explained in an e-mail that all profits made from that album are being donated to charities that protect the environment and indigenous communities in NZ. At the end of the day, this debate is kind of a paradox because there are native people who think that Lorde is uplifting their voices and empowering their language, but there are also natives who don't look up to celebrities for empowerment and don't really care about her album since their language still suffers with a lot of racism in their country, and both sides are valid.
Cop26 is a joke because China & Russia aren't even there because they are laughing at the west-especially when the useless UN gives China a free pass to burn as much fossil fuels as they want because they are a developing country.A developing country that is building their own space station & has the fastest missiles on earth...wtf?
Incredible. Simply. Incredible. What a work of absolute stunning meaningful art. I’m literally IN TEARS watching this. I have always liked Fallen Fruit, but not once have I cried like this while listening to it! The visuals speak a thousand words, times a thousand words. This better win best MV somewhere. The powerful commentary about how the rich get to walk away from the mess they created while others have to suffer - how while “from the Nissan to the Phantom to the Plane” we will all feel the effects and lose our beautiful planet, but some people won’t suffer through it, is really so powerful. It took my breathe away. The timing of this video’s very late release makes so much sense now with COP26 going on. Ella, Lorde - you are a master artist
This feels so saaad! Like when you wake up from a beautiful dream to face reality, the ideal and peaceful world you leave behind collapsing on itself, and you're drawn back to the bleakness of the real world. It definitely closes this era on a sad note, but it's also exciting for what's to come and i can't wait to see how this translates into her tour and her next album!
this album in my opinion so under appreciated for what it really is, headphones really make it such an experience, i hope this album gets the love it deserves soon, i feel like it was slandered sm just because it wasn't a melodrama 2. Tracks like the path and TMWTA have gone from my least favourite to the same love i have with melodrama. Also the music videos of this era UGH 😮💨 iconic
Well, Greta Thunberg's antics (as of today walking out of the UN Climate Change Conference) sure isn't helping the face of Climate Change. Her antics are gaining more attention than the message she's trying to convey. This song would be a better message than Greta getting all red-faced, throwing a temper tantrum, then storming off.

I think people have to be in a good place to connect to this album - i remember last year this song was the only song I liked from the album, but last year I was listening to more sad music because I was going through a breakup, but now a year later, wow this album is resonating completely differently, I decided to give it a second listen while I take a walk in nature, and it made me realize how much I’ve healed since last year, I took a break from the dating field and I’ve never been more in peace. This album sounds like healing.
Once you understand what this song is about (destruction of the planet through pollution), it becomes chilling. Lorde really did not get enough credit for this album. But that's okay. Sometimes great things are only appreciated by the few.

Again I will say it this 61 year old grandma saw this young lady coming a long time ago. She is so very very wonderfully awesome
This is such a masterpiece!! The storylines are connected in this video: the hipster-like utopia got burned down, the fans from Mood Ring MV fallen down on the beach... If you’re looking for a savior well that’s not me. She had to leave this world when the time comes 🤯
this era is definitely a hit or miss for her. people will either appreciate this art or it will be something that we are not accustomed to from her repertoire-it won't please everyone, which is understandable since we differ in our tastes in music but i tend to appreciate everything ella puts out (call me bias whatever). there's warmth, joy, and familiarity to her that i truly adore and i can still see her essence in this album.
This will be like gaga’s artPOP, in 5 years people will realize how amazing this album really is! Lucky us that get what she’s trying to express right now.

the way Lorde understood Scorpio season and the new moon in Scorpio on my birthday this Thursday with "Don't let them see this coming". love this video and song.
I'm a Scorpio, I was born on the 8th of November (the day after Lorde), and I really LIVE for this
This music video made me view the song in a way I have never even thought of. Lorde, I love you.
I loved the entire album but Stoned at the Nail Salon and Fallen Fruit are the ones that my heart keeps making me repeat, feels like autumn, reminds me of older times, it hurts, I love the mixed feelings that brings me, I just really like this one
"The Man with the Axe" said hi
this album is not autumn, its sad summer. she made it for the southern hemisphere's summer, where shes from
I am just blown away by this song and album.
Lorde's voice is hypnotic.
It’s that tone that almost sounds like a slightly driven guitar in the mid range, mixed with awesome layering and verb/delay.

This!!
❤️❤️
I actually came back to the video to write this exact idea! It's Genius!
So true bestie
This is amazing. I love how Ella is so brutally honest about her power and privileges (being able to have a ride away from the apocalypse), as well as her participation in destroying the planet as a global star. We can truly feel the complexion in her facial expression. Can't wait for the other videos shot on this beach. This album just keeps on giving me so many surprises as time goes by.

It won’t but it’s okay. It’s a treasure to all of us who love it and connect with it 🥰
Masterpieces always are
Lorde has made it clear that she's criticizing the anthropocene on the album - wellness culture and how it appropriates indigenous practices, for example - and that this MV represents a choice that her character is making.
This.
So many sacrifices for this to happen. Thank you so very much!!
So mystical and powerful... The transitions are perfect. A MOOD.
The fact she timed this to align with COP26, the biggest climate conference of the decade - Lorde knows what she's doing and I'm HERE FOR IT.
