Cake? Yum. Sounds delicious
This bit about the drops reminds me of a practice prior to Super Bowl XLII where David Tyree dropped everything thrown his way. He didn’t let it get him down, as in the game he caught a TD pass and then..the Helmet Catch.
"It's kind of hard to catch a football with a broken hand."
Lance Alworth: hold my beer (with two broken hands)!
What were the saint Louis cardinals thinking when they celebrated Sonny Randle’s poor play at practice? That was really tragic! 😮😮😮😮😮
His life turned out fine. He was a head coach at three different colleges in the 1970s and then became a legend as a broadcaster in his native Virginia, retiring in 2014 at the age of 78.
Those St. Louis Cardinals were notorious for fading down the stretch. I remember in 1977 they were on a huge 6 game winning streak mid season to go 7-3. What did the Cards do then? Well, they lost ALL FOUR of their remaining games and OUT of the playoffs.
And their last loss that year (to the 1-26 Bucs) no doubt cost Don Coryell his job.
@@Bruce12867 We had 7 Pro Bowler's that year and couldn't win when it counted that hurts to this day. You're right losing to the Bucs was the nail in the coffin for Coryell.
Even in a joking manner, that's one bad way to hurt a teammate.
Randle still holds the Cardinals record for most receiving yards in a game (256 against the Giants in 1962). And he was the last Cardinal on the roster from the Chicago era.
Charley Winner hits the big 100 on July 2nd .... regardless of his Cardinals team flopping; that's a platinum trophy of life.
Makes me wonder how Darrell Green decided to walk away. He was still the fastest on the team at 42 years old. He did mentor and take champ bailey under his wing in his last few years. Maybe he seen that skill and thought Champ would be a perfect successor. Even though champ was traded a year after green left.
I’m not a Redskins fan. But I have DG’s 28 jersey. The man’s talent was legendary.
@@Tatorterminator66 that's awesome. I can appreciate that. Washington is retiring Greens 28 sometime this year.
Interesting end zone designs at 1:00.
Randle's injuries were pretty bad. Halfway through the 1964 season he separated his shoulder and out for the year. The broken hand in 1966 was worse, he needed a lot more recovery time.
TBH Sonny's 1967 season with the 49er's wasn't terrible. He caught 4 TD's in 10 games and had over 500 reception yards.
This guy seems to take joy in saying this man did next to nothing in some of his injury plagged years which is bs. Not mention the title is beyond stupid. The guy had 2 serious injuires which like many athletes had an impact in his decline.
In one season “Days of Our Lives” killed off many main characters during the November Sweeps Week, only to bring them back in the May Sweeps Week. When the characters got killed off the actors who played them got a cake party. One actor whose character got killed off refused the cake party.
Charlie Johnson was one of my favorite qbs of all time. He was an elite QB
At 11:55 you mentioned someone who has the same last name as my middle name.
"Sonny Randle did next to nothing with the 49ers"
He led the team in receiving TDs in 1967. Second on the team in catches and receiving yards. The raw numbers weren't impressive, but it was 1967. He wasn't a star, but he was okay.
With the Cowboys...yeah, he really did very close to nothing at all.
one of my team mates, a half back, was given a football with a handle taped on must walk around with
"How do you when you stink?" Nice lead.
What would Alex Hawkins have said if Sonny Randle had two broken hands?
At least his career didn’t end because of a cupcake.
Edp445
Ehhh back then it wouldn't have been as big of a deal
There’s gotta be a story behind that which I’m missing.
Sounds like he got the YIPS
Looks like the Cardinals had their cake and ate it too.
You didn't show any highlights of him dropping the ball when it was thrown to him
Swear to God, if I were Sonny Randle at that "party", I'd quit right there on the spot.
I enjoy your videos, but I doubt this is accurate. If the first day he had his cast off, they gave him a cake with Congratulations on it, it's probably for having the cast removed. It almost certainly became a joke about how bad the practice was.
Also, I've had a broken hand. Your hands aren't back as soon as the cast comes off. It takes weeks getting used to it. And if he's right handed, with it being a full hand cast, he almost certainly had to learn to do things with his left hand in the mean time. Which will throw your skills off.
DON'T LET THEM EAT CAKE 🍰🍰🍰🍰🍰🍰🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂
How classless. Celebrating ineptitude, kicking a guy when they're down.
So this wasn’t about JaMarcus Russell.
Today if you got a cake to celebrate a player dropping 8 passes during practice, they’d jump on X (Twitter) and wine about being bullied and their depression and anxiety. Then finish off by saying it was racist.
Tell me you never suffered from depression and anxiety with saying you never suffered from depression and anxiety
Regardless, it is a very stupid thing to celebrate over. Has any other team celebrated something like that ever since?
@@byronbengucheyour projection of weakness is not mine. Good luck to ya.
Thumbs down for the music. Can't watch. Why spoil your content?
Kinda like your videos, But I swear your videos are depressing watching them with that background music.
If gerl like I’m in a mortuary… it’s depressing… Damn change it up!
Bring back the banjo!
I have a question. Did the Cardinals celebrate the decline of Sonny Randle because he was a dick.
