I REALLY liked this premiere. We got tons of camp life, as well as the all-important initial relationship building between the players on all three tribes. I had a feeling of who might be going on all three tribes, as well as an idea of who might bond later on in the game post-merge. Even if CBS cuts the regular runtime back to 60 minutes in the future, Survivor should NEVER go back to a 90-minute premiere.
Two hour premieres always feel more full. Especially when we get so little preseason content nowadays. Back in the day, we used to get over 5 minutes with each player talking about themselves and why they want to play Survivor. So this helps us get to know them legitimately.
Maria basically blackmailed Jelinsky to tell her the truth and he said sure no problem. 😂

Great show! I love the book analogy and studying for depth. When doing research you have to do more than binge. The Specialists perspective may take a different angle than RHAP's but both perspectives are valuable to learn the game, along with reading articles and listening to interviews. Sweet 😎

Tim’s edit was fine, and his comment was totally valid, literally every season in the new era it’s been episode 1 of a group of 3 of the women banding together. It’s such an obvious pattern.

Agree with Blake about Jelinsky
I do however massively disagree with him on what he said about the Andy Griffith thing or the Soda radar thing “taking away from the interpersonal relationships” or now he “cant invite over a date to watch the show with me” huh? They’re 5-10 seconds of a little editing thing. Who cares? I thought they were both fairly clever/fun.
His worst take of the night by far. I think I made him see the light after that. At the watch party I was at, everyone laughed so hard at the Andy Griffith thing!
Kenzie being Tiffany's familiar/shadow/Siamese twin was hilarious.

The fact that you guys think Tim is wrong for suspecting that the women of his tribe is trying to form an alliance and questioning his position in his tribe . You might be blind. Seperate any other season from this one and the fact is that the women formed the current alliance that we know about and roped in charlie. That is what we know as fact from episode 1
I would love to see Tim try to combat that, but idk if he’s gonna pull it off. We need to see more of greens dynamic, and if Jem/Maria becomes a threat too quick and they take one of them out instead of a guy. Or cut Moriah, cause what does she bring to the tribe?
This is a fair point! I just rewatched the episode and realized the problem wasn't what he was saying about the women but him saying that the women always take the men out when in the last seasons he saw before going on the island, the women got decimated early.
You're definitely right though that they actually are threatening his game.
@@survivorspecialists I feel bad for a few people Randen , Jess , Tim. Its the luck of the draw. But the six person tribes are doing more harm than good, its killing some contestants initial game.
On another note I can see moriah as kind of an odd ball. One of her confessionals had some condescending music in the background
I’m 28 and have watched Survivor since the beginning, and rewatched every season. There is something about watching an episode and being able to process the episode for a week that does give you a better understanding of the game. I have friends that have gotten into survivor more recently, and what they think is a great move I can explain why it might be a bad one at the same time.
Yeah, it's just the case with everything and it's not anyone's fault. But if you have to sit with something, then you have to think about it. And that will force you to evaluate it more clearly!
I’m definitely cheering for Q and Tim.
Q was so much different than the usual athlete archetype they cast. Enjoyed that!
Jeff was referring to casting people who come in saying I’m going to be the villain and plays just to be the villain. Jelinsky is more jester than villain.
This is fair. Jelinsky didn't do anything harmful to anyone. Far cry from villains that used to burn socks and dump water.
Tiffany really didn't have to worry THAT much about the idol. Initially I was irritated, but she only loses her vote if she decided to NOT take the idol. While she had to put in some effort to solve the clue to the location of the key (BTW, I think she would have CRUSHED the Savvy task), it wasn't like she had to hurry. She was solid with her group this round, and the longer her tribe goes without going to Tribal Council, the longer she would have had to solve that puzzle.
Great point about old school NBA players. That’s why we should never crown or compare anyone.
It's to the point where we're comparing apples to oranges! And no one will ever agree about which era is harder. And that's okay!

If Tevin goes on to win, that’s gotta be the most obvious episode 1 winner edit we’ve gotten in a looooong time. His 2 minute confessional describing the game in the cold open, I’m sitting there like, is this a producer talking about the show?!? Oh shit that’s a PLAYER
Thought the same thing! Tevin has one helluva voice too!
They really edited Carolyn in #44 .She was in the cold open but came in third...Tevin is in it for the MONEy❤

Jelinski was a “legendary” first boot. He was so confident despite the multiple mis-steps and continued trying to drag others under the bus with him, instead of just apologizing and pledging to do better. As was said it seems with this accelerated version first impressions are so important and Jelinski kept giving off negative impressions.
Yeah, he will always be remembered for how he played! Honestly, if you're gonna be the first boot, you may as well be this version cause at least you're memorable!
I agree with Phil. The wit this episode worked perfectly for me as one of the oldest in Gen Z. Also, with anyone younger than me, you just have no clue what shows they grew up watching. If you can stream it, there’s a chance they’ve seen it.

Fun episode. But what was up with that crossword puzzle? Who would’ve figured that out
No one! That thing was so hard. And, with the letters that were left over, you had to realize you were unscrambling three words. That's insane. Almost like production didn't want them to figure it out. Honestly, I'm okay with that.

Only like the puzzle masters of puzzle masters figure that one out.
I really enjoyed the premiere I thought it was really good and everyone on the cast seemed to get some relative content. Honestly Jelinski was a pretty great first boot. His downfall and mistakes time and time again were funny and I was honestly not gonna be surprised if he didn’t get voted off because of the physicality. My favorites are Bhanu, Hunter, Q, Tevin, Venus, and Tiffany so far.
I'm excited to see more of the green tribe next week. Feel like they were pretty quiet as shown by your picks above. Feel like there is some gold over there!
I really do enjoy the green tribe, ben is very fun and I honestly feel like tim could possibly do some damage if he can get a solid alliance member

@@jaye5872 I ask because it seemed that they made VERY little progress before Jalenski threw in the towel (and the hourglass). It seemed like they were content with just letting the water pour out.

This is a great point! Will have to remember to ask Cassidy what she thinks of this on Sunday. Since she played the game, maybe she will have insight into whether or not these types of things are allowed.

Is Venus like the first proper 10/10 model that we’ve had on survivor in the new era
Was this the easiest Savvy task ever? I figured out that they needed to unscramble the letters right away, and the position of some letters (the DIN in the upper right), and the OC near the K in the lower left) lent themselves to words. Since you had to "find" what you were missing, I made the connection between DIN and DIG. I saw a U and guessed UNDER, and the leftover letters got me LOCK right away.
Seems like Siga could have used you! LOL
It was easy. The 1st row & column spelled #s, so I just found all the #s, then looked at the letters not used & found “Under Lock”. Which my instinct was to look under/dig, without even seeing the word dig yet
I rewatched it and realized they didn't have to unscramble the letters so this wasn't overly difficult. But you still have to think that way.
This was a really great episode for Venus Dee vibes!
she is a dee that is good at puzzles. god was not fair for the other 17 in s46. hope her , hunter , tevin , q and jem are the final 5.

Curious to see how she does with the social game in the coming days! There's a target on her back already, but I think she has the game to get out of her situation.

Jelinsky losing his vote sealed his unanimous vote out. I think Kenzie actually wanted to keep him but Banu, Q and Jess made it 3-2 so it basically had to be unanimous or 2 people are gonna be on the bottom.
Yeah, he had no chance of getting Bhanu or Q after that strength challenge.

I was so shocked when jenlisky was eliminated I was almost sure Jess would go home but she ended up not getting any votes
It seemd like Jelinsky was just out of touch with what his tribe was looking for. Still one of the more fun first boots we've ever had.
I thought she’d be first boot for sure. Even though Jelinsky was being dumb.
SWEAT: Instructions said to fill the urns. So, at the beginning when they are empty, drag the empty container to the water front of the shore and fill it there. The rules never said they had to walk all the way down the beach to fill them ;)
How heavy do you think those urns were? Genuinely asking. Because with water, they may have been impossible to move.

Is Jelinsky the worst Survivor player ever?
Maybe. But we need players like that. Makes for great tv
First boots that flame out are the best kinds of first boots. Would watch Jelinsky again on a Survivor season, no questions asked.

His decision to build trust on the journey I think was smart, but telling his tribe that’s what happened was not.
Ok realllllly need Blake to become a permanent fixture. He cant fill the Alexa gap entirely but definitely a big help.

Thank goodness that Jalinsky was the first boot. I would've been appalled if they didn't vote him out. With all due respect to him, possibly the worst and quickest flameout of any survivor player. My favorites this season are Q, Jess, Bhanu, Maria, Ben and Liz. Thus far, rooting for one of those six to win.
Jelinsky was so much fun to watch. Don't know if he would have turned it around if he had more than one episode after this though. Glad we got what we did.
Danny McCray was robbed. Jelinsky was my winner pick which is embarrassing, but I also said he should be the 1st boot because he is A THREAT which is even more embarrassing 😮

A little disappointed with this recap. Y’all spent way too much time, specifically Blake, dogging on Jelinsky. I would’ve appreciated more insight on relationships, tribe dynamics, and potential future alliances. The show already roasted Jelinsky enough
@Evzsz we all read your first comment. No need to repeat yourself a second time and continue to dog on Blake. It's unnecessary and it's rude. Sorry this episode didn't live up to your standards, but there's no need for this.
I do get upset and defensive at most people, especially when they personally attack people on my channel. I appreciate you deleting your comment. I felt that it crossed a line, and I'm glad you felt the same way. Will will be back on Sunday with Cassidy, so hopefully that will create peace between us again.
I really do appreciate the apology. Don't be so hard on yourself. Just one of those things. I get it. Expectations didn't meet reality and that made you mad. It's understandable. I just try to keep it more impersonal with critiques. But it's all good. Blake is a big boy and he'll be fine. I just know how hard it is the first time you do one of these things, so it's never fun to be sitting there second guessing.

The beginning of this episode of survivor was so boring, but it picked up near the end. Stop telling us about their lives. I do not care.

Unlike 45, this season was shot thinking it would be 1h and not 90min or 90 min instead of 2h so i am thinking they had to fill that 30 min with something and they décided to do it with background info on the castaways
