I've never heard this hauntingly beautiful song before. How come she sings so wonderfully, controls her breath and yet enunciates every word? Because she is an angel, always was, always will be.....that's why ❤

There may have been some confusion on the account of the names...
Imaged from "The Children of Lir" is often depicted in Irish(and Welsh"Leros") art. There were 4 swans actually, 1 daughter and 3 sons. One really famous statue stands in Dublin's Garden of Remembrance.
Dispite similarities in spelling, "King Lear" is not derived from "Lir" of Irish legends(god linked to the seas). Lear is based on legends of "Leir " of the Britons. "Leir" had daughters and tested their love and loyalty to him.

@sulyokreka Lir in Irish mythology is a king whose three children were turned to swans by their stepmother(Aoife) after their real mother died. They had to swim in certain lakes around Ireland for 300 years. Probably he is the same mythic figure as Lear, as the are place names and legends all over the British isles and beyond with various spellings and variations on this name.

This song wouldn't be right for full voice. The way she sings it in a breathy hesitant manner is perfectly fitting.
Lear is from Shakespeare's play... Children of Lir is an Irish legend... Sinead is Irish so it makes sense.

The legend was that Lir was an Irish King whose second wife became jealous of his great love for his children. She was a sorceress who transformed them into swans and cursed them to spend in all, nine hundred years in three different places- one being the 'stormy sea of Moyle'. When their years of exile were over, they returned to human form and the beautiful youths they had been were now ragged with age. They were baptized by a Christian ,and then died. Their spirits rose to heaven as swans-

the piano rendition and the live vocal performance is far from the original..clearly pale by comparison...and there was a flute? oh no!....I stopped watching the moment I heard the flute...let me just enjoy the album version...and imagine how angelic the singer is.
