Great content! can't help but appreciate Drew's willingness to come forward and take the chip return out of the air, being aggressive with angle but safe to the lines on the volleys once he's hit a good serve.
Mark is a hell of a player and I'm expecting him to fight back hard (as always) the second set, but the athleticism of Drew, man oh man, I'm sure many hours of drilling, practice and competition to get to where he is, but you just can't teach some of that, you have to be born with it. So much variety, feel and creativity, off the charts.
Nice content. Love your channel and the essential tennis channel. @Mark Please try raising your right elbow on your takeback of your forehand and keep your right hand relaxed you will see a great improvement. At the moment you invest so much energy and it is a pity that you lose 10-15% of power on your forehand shots. By "elbowing someone behind you in the face" and leaving your right hand relaxed will result in you hitting the ball more in front and a better kinetic chain.
Part 2 "The Rise of the Babolat" in which Sensei Sansait reaches into his bag and pulls out the COSMIC AERO racquet. Only spoken of in whispers, the COSMIC AERO imbues those that possess it with the stamina of Adam, the serve and forehand of Ira, and the net game of the fabled Old Grumpy Guy. Sensei Sansait proceeds to send the upstart Drew back to his 11th grade gym class, broken and questioning his very existence...
I think Drew exposes / forces one of your weaknesses Mr. Sansait, not always getting the ball back deep consistently. In those longer rallies where you manage to get the ball deep and Drew can't attack, i think thats where you're winning more points and it would make him nervy /armchaircommentator
Great to put yourself out there, Mark, D1 players are at least 5.5 when recruited. They just don't make a lot of mistakes and force errors with pace. Your serve was looking real good.
My aunt taught me how to play and I never beat her once and she wouldn't even think of gifting me a point. She was a world class amateur player. You do not play the game to lose. I told all my student's male or female we can play anytime you think you're ready but know that you will not get one second of let up from me. My goal is to prepare them to become the best competitor as well as a player and bring out their metal at whatever level they make it too. I always taught them go down swinging always play your best game w intense fight and heart. Even so you may still lose but if you do lose it is not a shameful thing and then you can constructively learn from it and not have baggage. Mark should be sick this kid beat him.
I really enjoy your videos Mark!!! Drew has a way better kick serve than I do and I think it would be really cool if he could share some of his insight regarding how to hit a kick serve. Perhaps you could make a video regarding this!? With him or someone else who has a really good kick serve. Then, perhaps, you could make another video featuring someone with a beast of a flat serve etc. I, for one, would really love watching such videos.
Love the way both of you play, especially the use of the slice forehand. Saying that you could maybe do with not hitting quite so many of the those on the return of serve (his serve looks big though tbf!)
Great quality video. I stopped 3 games in for 2 reasons: 1. Out of the 15 or so BH shots you had. You hit 3 w topspin. 3! At this level that ratio just doesn't cut it. Unless your Steve Johnson or Dan Evans w a slice bh at this level you better reverse that ratio. You just give up too much court and leave yourself open to be attacked. Seems it's your Achilles heel whilst playing. The matches that I've viewed are all passive play and that BH slice. Seems to be your primary game which at this level and up no one is bothered by a slice. Not enough to have them change their primary game anyway. What are you getting out of it? If the answer is nothing then it has to go right. My former coach would beat me w a slice but only because it was world class, lefty and he attacked behind it. However he was 62 at the time. If it wasn't effective though it would not be his go to "A" game especially if he still had his wheels. 2. Your mindset isn't pro aggression. W your skill sets and speed I'd be in attack mode all day not retrieval. The very 1st short FH you had you chipped high and soft instead of hitting the approach w topspin and forcing the issue. Missed an opportunity to send a message to your opponent right from the start. Tells me all I need to know about you as a player. I'm assuming this young man beats you but he shouldn't. I have never had one of my kids be able to beat me. Not because they weren't good. It was just a pride thing and I knew their strengths and weaknesses if no weakness then at least where to attack. If I allowed them to roll me w all of the info I had on them I would be embarrassed not proud. I see no game plan from you at all. If defense is the "A" strategy Mark then maybe time for some coaching yourself. W a good looking topspin BH like that I'm hitting it 80% of the time. Especially on the 2nd serve as well, which he donated a lot of his first service game. He should have been broken from jump. Way too passive for a 4.5 player. I could be wrong but I am not thinking so. If you win this match Mark I'll post a public recorded apology however I'm thinking you will lose. I'd wager only getting about 4 or 5 games tops. I always have been told to let my racquet do the talking. I have never in my life met a player who was taught that a slice BH should be your primary rally shot in modern tennis. Makes it really tough to make in roads against these modern sticks and heavy topspin strokes. Surely not a successful pattern at 4 5 and up. Good channel and thanks for posting takes guts to open yourself like this. That's what we do though everytime we play someone we reveal our true self to them right. Not our lip service. That's the beauty of the game it doesn't let you not tell on yourself. I hope you take my comments constructively. Not trolling you at all just surprisingly passive stuff from a 4.5 player and coach. No reason you shouldn't be 5.0 w your skills.
Could be mental. I play with many that can hit anything they want but during a match they defualt to what they think they do best. I think Mark is awesome but agree, my topspin backhand never comes back he needs to put pace on the ball not take it off. My coach always says if you have to to slice, you have time to hit topspin.
Hey Mark, When you lost your serve by double faults at about 6:00 twice in a row, it was because you kinda lost the arch in your back--maybe just trying to be careful. But your back arch IS your serve...
What are those large rectangular structures attached near the ceiling along the walls? They kinda look like heating element. Are they part of the building's A/C system?
Hey man, I enjoy some of your content, but it's pretty cringe and in bad taste for you to be screaming so loudly and negatively in a friendly competitive match (especially when there's seemingly a child's lesson or court time right beside you). I know all the pros do it, but this ain't that man. You did the same thing in your nationals tournament. Figure out a different way to pump yourself up. I would not want to be on the court beside you and your presence overall would negatively impact the court time I paid for as well. Not trying to hate on you super hard, but just speaking facts.
Hey Adam thanks for calling out my behavior! Yeah I agree its cringey... emotions were running high (not an excuse), i need to control my outbursts/reactions a lot better (especially as someone in their 30s). Happy hitting!
🔥
When can we expect your match with MEP Ian?
Uber stoked
@@niveditsingh6063 It's being played very soon...
Love you videos. Watching on slow motion. This dude calls alot of good balls out. As an example your backhand at 630 was good.

Looks like a tough opponent, from the looks of the trailer, may the force (of BWEH) be with you! :)
That kick serve is unreal
A great video. Drew has a nasty forehand slice
It looks like he hooked you on a few of those game point shots...

As long as I dont use any Babolat Overgrips
Which babolat are you using? It's hard to see, my guess is pd vs?
@@davelee6002 It's not a Babolat, it's the Yonex ezone 98
6:28 is definately in ;)
about to write the same thing man

The comment I was looking for. What makes it especially cheesy is that the kid was already up 15-40.
No doubt.
noticed this too. it was well inside the line. Mark got hooked on that one lol

This Drew kid has some vicious raw power. 👍
6:28 that ball was clearly in haha

What string are you using? I’m looking for a controlled power string?
Hey Mark, When you lost your serve by double faults at about 6:00 twice in a row, it was because you kinda lost the arch in your back--maybe just trying to be careful. But your back arch IS your serve...
Thanks for 60fps !
Try moving the big guy diagonal, most big guys not so great at that, instead of side to side.
His slice is great

Yes, heaters
The intro music sounds lit

Definitely some first serve issues, Mark. Hope it improves in the second set.
Explosive set
As we know, camrea makes the ball look slower, so how was the pace and speed of him?
Nice hitting
D1 recruit/player with UTR of 10 = NTRP of 5.5 (?)
I think most d1 recruits are 11+ on the UTR scale, no?
Hey Mark, loving the content! How come you've switched back to your yonex after using the head racket for the national qualifiers?
What shoes are Drew wearing? Is that the one that some pros were wearing at the Australian open? I’ve been trying to find them
Nike Air Zoom Vapor Cage 4's
broken string at 9:15?
was there some rule for not making winners?
Winners are overrated. Unforced errors are what's hot right now
Is Mark back with the Yonex?
Is this old? You are using your Yonex. I thought you switched to Head.
Well, Drew is 1/2 your age...
BWEH BWEH!
