  • Vajrasattva (Tib. Dorje Sempa) is a Meditational Deity in the Vajrayana Buddhist tradition of India and Tibet. Vajrasattva's name translates to Diamond Being or Thunderbolt Being. He embodies the purification power of all the Buddhas of the three times and ten directions. In essence, Vajrasattva is the ultimate nature of clarity and emptiness which is beyond grasping and conceptualisation.
    Long Mantra Lyrics:
    Om Vajrasattva (5) samayam (8)anupālaya (13) |
    Vajrasattva (17) tvenopatiṣṭha (22) |
    Dṛḍho me bhava (27) |
    Sutoṣyo me bhava (33) |
    Supoṣyo me bhava (39) |
    Anurakto me bhava (46) |
    Sarva siddhiṃ (50) me prayaccha (54) |
    Sarvakarmasu (59) ca me (61)
    cittam śriyaḥ kuru hūṃ (68) |
    Hā hā hā hā hoḥ (73)
    Bhagavan (76)
    sarva (78) Tathāgata (82) Vajra (84)mā me muñca (88) |
    Vajrī bhava (92) mahāsamaya (97) sattva āḥ (100) ||
    Tibetan Transliteration Pronunciation:
    OM BENZA SATO SAMAYA
    MANUPALAYA
    BENZA SATO TENOPA TISHTA DRI DO MEBHAWA
    SUTO KAYO MEBHAWA
    SUPO KAYO MEBHAWA
    ANURAKTO MEBHAWA
    SARWA SIDDHI ME PRAYATSA
    SARWA KARMA SUCHA ME
    TSI TAM SHRI YA KURU HUNG
    HA HA HA HA HO BHAGAWAN
    SARWA TATHAGATA BENZA MAME MUNTSA BENZA BHAWA
    MAHA SAMAYA SATO AH
    English Translation:
    O Vajrasattva honour the agreement!
    Reveal yourself as the vajra-being!
    Be steadfast for me!
    Be very pleased for me!
    Be fully nourishing for me!
    Be passionate for me!
    Grant me all success and attainment!
    And in all actions make my mind more lucid!
    hūṃ
    ha ha ha ha hoḥ
    O Blessed One, vajra of all those in that state, don't abandon me!
    O being of the great contract be a vajra-bearer!
    āḥ
    In Tibetan Buddhism the Vajrasattva root tantra is Dorje Gyan, or "Vajra Ornament". Vajrasattva practices are common to all of the four schools of Tibetan Buddhism and are used both to purify obscurations so that the Vajrayana student can progress beyond Ngöndro practices to the various yoga practices of tantra and also to purify any broken samaya vows after initiation. As such, Vajrasattva practice is an essential element of Tibetan Buddhist practice.
    In addition to personal practice, the Vajrasattva mantra is regarded as having the ability to purify karma, bring peace, and cause enlightened activity in general.
    The six syllable mantra (oṁ Vajrasattva Hūṁ), is a less formal version of the one hundred syllable mantra on which it is based but contains the essential spiritual points of the longer mantra.

    Thank you so much, I feel so blessed with this!
    Just one question... Why is ‘vajrasattva’ pronounced as ‘benza sato’ and ‘vajra’ as ‘benzar’? Or are these different words/translations that are interchangeable in their meaning?
    What words do I use when reciting the mantra myself?

    • @Scoutediting
      @Scoutediting  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Good question! Benzasato is the Tibetan pronunciation of the Sanskrit word Vajrasattva. They mean exactly the same thing: 'Diamond Being' but Tibetans have a few idiosyncrasies when they pronounce Sanskrit words. Some teachers insist that the mantras should be pronounced in original sanskrit where others will use the Tibetan variation because it's more familiar to their way of speaking. In the video the Sanskrit is the upper text and Tibetan pronunciation the bottom. May all beings benefit!

    • @asamvav
      @asamvav 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The nature of all words is empty. It doesn't really matter how you pronounce it as long as your visualization, understanding, vows are intact. Both Tibetan or Sanskrit pronunciation is correct. Depends on what your Guru/Lama orders you to do. This is applicable to all mantras. 🙏

      This is in Tibetan “Benza” = Vajra. “Vajra” is Sanskrit.
