@@rajpalsinghpal6923 I understand Britain's current generation may know little about their country's real history and that is because Britain had erased all the dirty details about colonialism from their history books to ensure the status, respect and image of the royal family stays intact in the minds of UK citizens. But today in the age of TH-cam, when everything is available online, also Indians have bigger platforms to speak about our side of the story, I've noticed citizens of UK today still try to defend their history almost denying India's side of the story - denial or maybe colonial hangover!

The person representing India is knowledgeable. I agree with him that the British empire Only exhausted our resources and made us 100yrs back to recover itself. With such a huge population (1 billion) it's nearly impossible to be good in each and every aspect like a developed country. We, as a nation, still have many scopes to develop and many drawbacks to remove or rectify. So, I hope for the best for my country keeping in mind such a huge population. ❤

England developed India? Yes they introduced railways, postal services and other means to connect India but it was done purely for their convenience of trading. They need roads and transportation facilities to get the goods to the ports for exporting them to England.
It might have benefited Indians but the economic damage they have done outweighs the development they did in here. India back was popular for its handicrafts industries which couldn't stand to compete with cheap machine-made goods from England. They reduced India into an exporter of raw materials and an importer of cheap goods. This is famously called the “wealth drain theory”! They commercialised Indian agricultural which lead to an acute food shortage and 1000s of people dying from hunger.
Also, don't kid yourself to say democracy was introduced in India cause of the British. The founding fathers of the Indian constitution were very clear right from the beginning on being a democratic country with universal suffrage. Even illiterates, backward classes and also women were given voting rights when India became independent and constitution came into existence. While most of the western countries like UK, US denied voting rights to women for centuries even though they called themselves a “democracy”! We are still a democracy despite being such a huge country with vast diversity.
And yes India plays cricket and has beaten England at their own game plenty of times. India is still a part of the commonwealth our leaders back then made sure that the relationship between the two countries doesn't end on a bitter note. Yes, it's 75 years since our independence and it makes no sense for us to still play the blame game. But don't casually say things without complete awareness. Colonialism isn't a good thing it's all about capitalism, exploitation, discrimination and captivity. I believe Koreans know this better than us!
What is it about some of you Indians who are so nationalistic online? Wion and all those propaganda channels surely don't help. You're just like those annoying nationalistic Chinese netizens; I could understand their haughtiness given their position in power, but India... you still have a long way to go and you can't do it alone. I think England is not very verse with the history. But England looted India of 45 trillion dollars. Education was always there in India. We had the first university in the world. They just introduced a language to us. Spices, cotton, diamonds, and so many things were looted from us. Their queen also wears our Kohinoor diamond which originally belongs to India. I can go on and on. This list is long. I think England should first be revised with the history very well.

Later 1760 industrial revolution and Government of India act 1858 were major turning events in Indian colonial history. When Britishers left India we had a literacy rate of 12%. Also 1820, India's GDP was 16% of the global GDP. By 1870, it had fallen to 12%, and by 1947 to 4%. Wth is he talking about??? Not to mention approximately 165 million Indians lost their lives during British colonialism. This man needs to search Jallianwala Bagh massacre. I mean please we are living in 2023 with information, facts and figures just a click away. But that is how its always been in case of Britishers, that's how they've always justified their horrific acts against humanity by coveting and shoving it to our faces, "we(British empire) were trying to teach them (Indians) how to live their lives".
