    just finished my surface grinder it works great and I half to admit it looks a lot like yours . thanks again for the 4 part video , my scrap pile had a lot of 6x6x 1/4 box so the frame is a lot different but mag vise and the slide is a carbon copy hope you don't mind . I do tell any one that sees it that I copied yours. I really enjoy all your videos and have learned a lot from them keep up the great job.

    Looks like one great machine and the fact you made this from mostly scrap completely astounds me! I am most definitely jealous of your ability to use your finger and punch a hole through steel you should teach us the way! And the #Blacksmithsknotchallenge mentioned in the live stream is something I started to challenge everyone to tie a knot out of steel.

    Okay, I get it now on how it still grinds flat. The very bottom of the wheel only touches so the linear movement is still running true even on a tilt. For some reason I was picturing the belt running a flat surface, not just the contact wheel end contacting the material to be ground. Awesome job, Tim. I suppose you could call it "Kate" from Kate Moss, she's pretty flat, but still looked good in her outfit in the "Matrix" movie trilogy .

    Outstanding build. I definitely prefer to watch you and your projects over Alex Steele any day. He is okay, but a bit flighty for my taste. He doesn't have nearly the experience you do in solving the various problems that come up in a Black Smiths shop. I wish I could give you two thumbs up.

  • @davestahl572
    @davestahl572 ปีที่แล้ว

    Time, money, and floor space never seem to increase when you need it. I think most of us battle with the too small of a shop we quickly outgrow. Not to mention man's age old conundrums of "I can build it or buy it, if I had the money or the parts", the frequent "do I have the time to build it?" quickly followed by the biggest problem of where am I going to put it once I have it. It is a vicious cycle made worse when you can't afford land or money to expand you shop. Nice job on your grinder, do you have an update on how it has held up?

    This thing is killer! But doesn´t it grinds a taper into everything you grind on it? If you turn the handle on the screw for the height adjustment, the magnetic chuck will only raise on that side and will therefore tilt a little.

    • @BIGDOGFORGE
      @BIGDOGFORGE  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The contact wheel is round so the plain stays the same it just gets closer it does not grind a taper.
