That opening guitar riff is one of the sexiest things I have ever heard.

Trivium is one of the metal band out there that uses "heavy, complex" wording in their lyrics. Awesome!
Absolutely love this singer and the way he writes...his voice is beyond powerful! Powerhouse of a band!
I think people need to understand that Trivium as a band like to take different approaches to their albums. Each album has a different approach and they don't like to be repetitive. If you watch their documentary you will see where Matt and Trivium got their inspiration from for this album.
Trivium is one of a few modern metalcore bands that stick to the original paterns of metal and show us how metal was and should be. Thats why i love them.
That transition at 3:00 sends chills, it is hauntingly perfect.
I think this guitar intro was done really really well. The tone was like exactly how it should be and the Lead guitarist's right hand choked the strings at around 0:32 so that you get a pinch harmonic that is overwhelmed by the actual note.
I practice all day I'm glad it promotes analytic skills!

I saw them yesterday at Welcome To Rockville.
They played played a good mix of songs from a few albums.
Black, In Waves, Down from the Sky, Brave this Storm, Strife, Built to Fall, more.
They only had about a 30 min setlist.

some of you need to admit you're not real Trivium fans. Most of you are just fans of one or two of their albums because you heard them and thought that they should always sound like they did on that album. Trivium is constantly evolving and redefining their sound. And as a true fan of the band, I don't believe they have a "best album". They are Trivium, and no matter what they do, they are fucking awesome. Long live Trivium.

Honestly, this is probably my favorite Trivium album yet, but then again I'm a huge David Draiman fan. I heard that apparently he helped produce this one, so put 2 and 2 together and I guess that makes sense.

Heafy always pays tribute to Emperor/Ihsahn somehow, still happy to see that he hasn't forgotten the roots that makes Trivium's music unique.

So funny story time: I went to a huge concert in my home state in May of last year, (Carolina Rebellion), and Trivium performed there amongst a smattering of other bands and shortly after their set finished, Lamb of God performed at another stage across the way and I got to that area kind of late, so I was towards the back and I noticed this guy standing in front me and I didn't realize it until after Lamb of God finished their set but it was Matt Heafy and he stood there for awhile during their set and no one really noticed it was him but I was so pissed afterwards because I could've literally got a picture or something with him. 😂

Matt Heafy really is an inspiration, to me this song is about him growing and developing as an artist, having to listen to all the negative criticism of his bands change in sound, "struggle to find my way" as he is only a human after all, peoples words affect you whether you say that they do or not, stooping to their level and talking back (the "strife") wouldn't make him feel better so instead he just does what he does best, regardless of their opinions, and does it with intensity and passion!
