    What is with the crack on the sound board from the bridge to the sound hole ?

      That looks like the tops aren't book matched, so you get inconsistency in the wood joint seams.

      I love questions.----fire away!
      You see right.
      The wood is 155 years old.
      And there are cracks.
      Those cracks were there "before" we made the SB.
      In this type of construction tone is not compromised.
      In the piano world this SB is referred to as "compression crowned".
      I really don't think this has been done to hand held instruments before.
      Those cracks are not opening/ moving with seasonal stress, so we don't make too much effort to deal with them.
      We will explain how and most importantly why we make them this way,,, SOON.
      It is not an arch top nor does it have a V bracing and it is not a flat top.
      We don't know what to call it,,,,,it is a piano top. maybe?

      Hey!! maybe we put them cracks there on purpose = secret tonal elements.
      We don't need to make them look old on purpose = silly I can't understand the make it look old mentality.
