Great video, thankyou. For the search experience you describe (aggregating columns from different sites) what is the cirteria for the multiple sites? E.g. to build a cross-site search, do all site have to be connected in a hub/ be subsites etc?
@@SharePointMaven I have 3 columns created the same day(yesterday): 1 managed metadata, 1 text and 1 choice. But only the one with managed metadata have a Crawled propertie... Do you have any solution?
Great vid, thanks. Q: What if say 5 sites are connected to one "Hub" site - would you stilll need to map the properties or would searching "department" bring results from all 5 sites? thanks.
Hello sir, is this managed properties and crawled properties concept similar to a recent video wherein you mentioned synonyms for managed metadata properties in term store management?
@@SharePointMaven Thank you for your reply, I made a mistake in what I said, what I meant to say was that I only can view managed properties and crawled properties. How can I be the administrator for search service application , I can’t find it though I have full control for the site. I can’t map crawled properties and edit managed properties.
@@KathyChang-x5xMake sure you are getting there from the Sight Collection admin (right side) of the settings page, not the left side. I almost gave up hope until I noticed that.

Thanks for the feedback. No, sites do not need to be connected to a hub since the search goes after managed properties.
Do I need to choose "yes" for the option "add to all content type" (when creating the choice column) if I want to have a crawled propertie?
This "yes" option has nothing to do with Crawled properties. It only controls whether a column will be added to all content types within a library.

It does not matter whether you have a Hub Site or not - you still have to map.

No, it is completely different
Great video!!!!Why can't I edit crawled properties even though I have full control in SharePoint site?
You cannot edit crawled properties. You can just map to them
