This is a great video. I've read Dr. McWilliams book 'Psychoanalytic Diagnosis', it's a superb book. I worked with people who were diagnosed with severe and enduring mental health conditions for over thirty years. One thing I noticed fairly early on was that people diagnosed as suffering from schizophrenia certainly weren't all schizoid personalities. Also I've seen people diagnosed as suffering from bipolar, or manic depression as it was then known, deteriorate into paranoid schizophrenia with full blown florid symptoms. Unfortunately the statistical pharmaceutical orientation has grown very powerful in psychiatry, so Nancy McWilliams's work is a welcome antidote.
Stuart Schneiderman: Yes, and what happened to the wisdom and knowledge of the importance of sound pracdtical occupation? I have never been offered anything rehabilitating, and all my gifts, potential, care and interests have athrophied and rotted, they have taken my life, my energy , my faith and hope for healing and starting living, - I had no idea how deceptive and cruel they were. I want my 42 years back, and a damages. How do I go about that? my body is broken down from trying to help myself, there has been knowledge, also about Aspergers, and I ahve been promised help and assistence. What do they demand, that one is healthy and lovely in order to be worthy of gettingb help to get healthy and be oneself? They seem to think I am not like them, don't have the same human functions and needs, but shall be fine with insomnia, even fpr 25 years! Be fine with traficking-like handling and exploitation, fine with getting sterssed and fearful and having my life taken away fro no reason. And Schizophrenia beinga metabolic disease is not interesting anymore, one Dr said to me! Despite them being allergic and malnutritioned, it says in all the literature. I hope you reply. Have you had patients recover or even heal? Difficult when drugged, since meds passivise one and also burden the Liver and thus deplete energy even more. Are you a nurse or what are you?
