My horse started to rear with me, after a year of having her and bonding with her everyday. I didn't know what to think or feel about it, but now I feel she is just expressing herself. And the first time she reared it was a very specific moment and she was trying to communicate something to me.

In this video you mentioned training styles that encourage the horse to work on the forehand. I've been watching many hours of Art2Ride videos, and I was wondering if you would consider that an example of what you're talking about. It's my understanding that they encourage the horse to stretch long and low (but still lifting the back and engaging the hindquarters) until the horse has developed the strength to work in a higher position. I can definitely see how that could be trained incorrectly, and my own trainer is against doing this with my young horse. What are your thoughts are on the Art2Ride "method". Thanks!

I am not familiar with the videos you reference, but I AM a proponent of riding horses correctly long and low and the development you mention here. It is a misinterpretation of physiology to think we can skip this step of training.
