I’m old enough to remember AMC Theaters being inside the mall across from the old arcade before AMC moved to where it is now. I used to work at Macy’s as well. I still go to the mall every now and then. The Food Court and arcade were the hangout spots when I was in high school.
@@PrideInPaterson I'm assuming this was taken just before Christmas? And it was very busy the day after Christmas because of all the returns. Times have changed.
Back in the 80s/90s the theater was located in the mall and across from it was a kick ass arcade. Also there was an awesome comic book shop where that Pink store is now.
The arcade was one of my favorite places. Sadly I don't live in the US anymore, not for decades in fact, but those were the days back in the 80's. Great place to grow up. The old arcade was the first or second shop on the left as you entered the main entrance. Is this correct or is my memory off?
I remember when they built this mall. Before Rockaway we would shop at Livingston or Willowbrook. The Shorthills mall was originally an out door shopping mall so we only when there when it was nice out 😊
Great video! I IMMEDIATELY screamed INNER THEATER and arcade! I used to work at the theater, and would take my lunch hour to buy laserdiscs from Saturday Matinee!
This was my childhood mall in the 90s. The only thing still there in its same spot is that Sterling Optical. Although, I can’t believe they still are selling pets there. It’s a different company, but that’s exactly where we got our Pomeranian back in 92 or 93.
I think you forgot the hot topic, but really awesome video, my mom enjoyed it greatly. She used to live in Dover NJ, so she enjoyed a lot seeing hie new it looked :))
@PrideInPaterson that's all right! It's a store where most teenagers go to, it's a bit of an edgy store! It mostly has popular band tees and all that stuff and merchandise
It was 2 Gamestops on the upper level and 1 EB Games on the lower level. Though perhaps there was a brief period when the EB Games got rebranded Gamestop before it closed for good. I know EB Games got absorbed by Gamestop but I think they still maintained the separate EB games brand for awhile.
I’m afraid its dying , just slower than some others because of the affluent area , It was a great gathering place from the 70’s thru 2019 . Amazon and the Economy are killing off the Mall shopping America that was a part of our culture for decades !
Blame how lazy people have gotten. We now live in a society where people are too lazy to drag their asses to Wendy's to get their own food, so they pay a ridiculous premium to have some service deliver it for them. And, then complain that fast food is too expensive. Lol Amazon didn't kill malls. Lazy people did.

Inner 6 and outer 6
I remember the line for star wars was down past Child World
My friend’s family owned that arcade, I spent a lot of quality time in there!
Remember being there during Christmas during the 80's and you couldn't bearly walk around. Wow what a difference.
Right?

Sorry just saw the date.

@@lanatrzczka 😂
I still work there :)
Is it pretty busy or kind of dead?
@@hocusfocus8016 Popular place. I live down the street.
What day was this recorded ?
Not sure of the exact day but it was in November 2023
@ I love this mall so much. It gives me nostalgia. Thank you for the video.

Sadly it is now an anchor for the theater and restaurants.
