OpenCities Jamaica

The OpenCities Jamaica project tackles the lack of detailed flood data to enhance resilience planning on the island. Utilizing community-based mapping with mobile phones, the project updated 300 building footprints in OpenStreetMap and created 30 critical maps. This initiative has fostered a culture of open data use, significantly strengthening disaster preparedness. Jamaica emerges as a leader in adapting to climate threats, demonstrating the power of mobile mapping for community resilience and sustainable development.
