0:43 "aboot" Hello from Canada! Thank you so much for this tutorial, it saved my life haha, i made my brother a full twitch overlay set for christmas, and this helped a lot!
This would be a much better tutorial if you slowed down and actually explained what tools you're using to do a certain part of the process. I can sort of understand what you're doing but most of it just "do this and this and you're done". Slow it down and try teaching what each tool your using will do. Otherwise, thanks for the tutorial.
quick thing: you dont *need* to use photoshop, there are other things you can use like you can make the overlay in canva, go to pixlr e *a free editing software you use via your browser* and get the right dimensions, cut the canva photo to fit in the dimensions and then save it.
300 vs 72 ppi makes no difference in quality. It's going to be 1080p regardless because you set the resolution at 1920x1080 px. If however you were making a size in inches (Say 5x7 inches), then ppi would change the base resolution of that file to fit more pixels per inch. Make sense?
great video BUT! do you have a video that goes more into making different shapes and everything? also it being slower on how to create them, kinda felt rushed. I will be going to you only to make overlays.
+seibervideo You'd have to route your video through OBS using a device similar to an Elgato Game Capture. Streaming to the same channel from different devices will not work well if at all. So if you want an overlay on playstation save up a little and buy an elgato :) hope this helps.
Cool! Thanks, I was going to pay for a overlay but I think I can make a good one by myself. I just made my twitch channel today so i'm learning a lot. lol
I have an overlay that I made by following this and twitch alerts, they're set up on obs but I can't figure out how to have the overlay showing over the game capture, same with the twitch alerts. It only wants to show the one thing so either game capture, alerts or overlay. one at a time. How do I make it all up together?
Make sure you save your overlays as a png with transparency. Then make sure they are on top of your game within the scene. Find me on my team speak if you need more help (in description of my newer videos)
I have a question, I'm using a program called paint.net (totally different from paint before you start about that xD) anyways, I saved the file as a png since the option for web file isn't there, but than in the stream you just see black instead of the grid, how can I fix that?
if you choose your dimensions by typing in pixel width and heigh. DPI makes no difference, as in its Pixel Per Inch. since your choosing how many pixels its going to be. that wont affect it. it would only affect it if you chose your dimensions in inches or other units of measurement except pixels.
Err... I'm using Krita, if that helps anyone, but... do I have to save it "for web"? Can't I just save as a regular PNG? I'm pretty sure I can't save in the way specified on Krita.
Not going to lie. the instruction are clear cut if you know photoshop, so i give this a thumbs up
This is the best free software Ive seen. Respect.

But he's not showing you the basics, tools and user interface this video is specifically for people who know how to use it.
agreed
If they know how to use it then they wouldn't need a tutorial
@@badmeme6801 actually some people know tons about photoshop but wouldn't know how to start making an overlay
I see what you’re saying but it seems like someone might need to learn photoshop before they even delve into twitch
i had fun making my simple little overlay THANKS!
Slight correction: Most professional print ads are done at a 300dpi resolution, not 72. 72dpi is usually used for web photos, etc.
Thank you DrPlayStationNation
thank you very much for the "save for web" was so lost on how that actually works.
slowing down playback speed on this vid is definitely your friend xD

Your comment sure does make sense. Unfortunately that part of the video was nonsense :/
Yeah pixels per inch is only relevant for prints, it has no effect at all on digital graphics.
So I'm getting a computer for my birthday and I want to become a full time twitch streamer and thanks for the advice I sub and I like

great video BUT! do you have a video that goes more into making different shapes and everything? also it being slower on how to create them, kinda felt rushed. I will be going to you only to make overlays.

What program do you use to edit your videos with?
Can you setup an overlay in OBS and stream that to Twitch while your Playstation 4 is streaming directly to Twitch?
+seibervideo You'd have to route your video through OBS using a device similar to an Elgato Game Capture. Streaming to the same channel from different devices will not work well if at all. So if you want an overlay on playstation save up a little and buy an elgato :) hope this helps.

Classic is for multi platform use and doesn't have as much plugin support, its best to stick to classic.
