I'm so pumped to be traveling with our kids for the next month! So here we have it- everything in my minimalist mama carry on bag and what to pack for kids on a long flight. I don't know about you but I find that less is always more when traveling with toddlers. I love that at this age my kids are always learning and excited about new experiences and rather than distract them from it or protect them from potential boredom, it's more important that I stay calm, regulated and present to just enjoy traveling with them. I took an entire carryon full of books, crayons, small lego kits etc and all they did was watch the movies on the tv in the seat, however it was years ago before iphones and the tv’s were a huge novelty for them. I never opened the bag!
The Melissa and Doug puffy reusable stickers are like magic. I only brought them out when I really needed them, like at the doctor's or on an airplane and it always worked so well!!!

Loved this, it was super helpful! I still have yet to experience flying with kids but we will be doing that soon on a short flight.
On our hotel car trips we have each kid carry their own backpack with their clothes, hat, favorite book, and whatever space is leftover they can choose a couple of toys. Bringing one large suitcase with everything would be more simple but now that the kids are older we want them to be more independent and make their own choices.... Buuuuut it does feel more stressful to me 😅
