I worked at Rainbow Bridge in the summer of 2017 as an NPS intern and it was one of the best summers of my life! Watching this video made me think of all of those great memories. Glad you all had a fun time there and got to experience the bridge :)
Josh, your presentation is excellent. You ALWAYS give us such an excellent overview, include an outstanding narrative, and provide us with amazing, breathtaking shots of the locale. I have to add this to all the other places you and your Dad have taken us. absolutely glorious 🏡🙏🏻🌞🤗👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I went there as a kid in the late 1960's. My family rented a houseboat on Lake Powell, the only thing there was a tiny marina! We did go to Rainbow Bridge via a friend's ski boat. Your adventure makes me want to go back and see it again. Thank you for sharing!
wonderfully done. Reminds me of my 25th Anniversary trip back in April of 2002. Think you may wish that you had taken this one with your wife. We found such special and spiritual meaning. Our boat was much smaller, and the dock was much closer, and if there was a path behind the bridge we weren't so informed. Still it was heart warming to take a trip back in time. Thank You!
Wow that was awesome. I’ve been going to Lake Powell since the early eighties. In my parents home my mom has a couple pictures on the wall of my brother, sister and I at Rainbow Bridge. Circa 1987 I was 8 and there was water under Rainbow Bridge. I do remember jumping into the water right next to the bridge but now you have to walk a whole mile. Great memories of Lake Powell and it is one of the most beautiful places to go house boating, or just to visits for the day. Great video and thank you for sharing that journey.
What a beautiful place! You can see how insanely low the Colorado river is. Page and lake Powell is gorgeous. That whole region is stunning. Thanks for sharing this adventure
How wonderfully awesome taking us along on a great journey, and coming to the Navajo Reservation it's beautiful Thank you Josh and Pops have a bless day
Super Video❗️👍👍👍
I was there in July 2019. It is unreal in person! The whole experience was fun from the long boat ride to the hike and back. The boat I took had seating up top so we did that on the way there!
Thank you for sharing. It brought back memories of my trip down the Colorado River from Hite's Ferry to Lees Ferry in 1955. What a hike it was from the river to the arch!
The marina used to be at Rainbow before they moved it to Dangling Rope. I spent the summers from. 77 to 83 on the lake as it grew to full pool. So much has changed. I hope to return before my days are done.
Great idea! I did not realize there was a boat trip! What a great scenic way to see rainbow bridge. Thank you for highlighting this. Always learn something from your videos. ❤
Rainbow Bridge has been on my list for awhile and I think perhaps next fall/winter I'll get up there. I do love the idea of going in the off season for a smaller group, even if it's going to be colder.
I am going to do that boat trip next winter after watching this. I’ve been thinking of doing a southwest national parks trip for a while and this clinched it. Thank you!
Rented a houseboat in 83 from Wahweap and drove right up to the bridge and docked. There was water under the bridge but not enough to put the boat in there. went back in 87 with a boat from halls crossing the dock was full and we anchored and took the ski boat we had to the dock. apparently, things have changed. we used Dangling rope for a fuel stop both times. I was the captain both times, the boat had twin engines so it was easy to dock. hard to believe it's been 40 years.
Incredible of beauty ! It was a pleasure to watch your video, I have not this landscape in my country, so it is good to discover it...Hello to you all from Paris ❤
I remember seeing a picture of my parents as the tour boat pulled almost right up to the base of the bridge... so this must have been one of the two times the CPT. was talking about lol Keep up the great work!! Love the content.
Awesome content!!! I really enjoy your channel. I’ve been watching it since the pandemic I forgot about it for a little while but now just seeing it on my feed again so I’m like totally engaged.Pops is cool ! Where’s ma’ if I may ask
Oh wow hardly anyone there, when we went everyone had to walk down, they only let a few people ride the shuttle, and we all had to walk up to the hotel, that walk was no joke. Especially when it was hot, but that hotel is quite nice, good food, one of the better place to stay at, and we did two great boat tours from there all wonderful.
@@ThroughMyLens Check out Pipe Spring National Monument, Lee's Ferry and Old Pariah Town when you are near The Wave. All have very beautiful and have interesting history.
There have been several videos in the last couple years documenting the docks having to be moved over and over as the water level goes down, people are finding sunken boats , cars, skeletons in barrels.

I've driven there a couple of times but did not know about the Rainbow Bridge, I hope if I ever get a chance, I can do that hike (right now it would be too long for me). That lake is so amazing...I never saw it from a boat before so now I know what I need to do to see it more beautifully...and I'm a photographer so those reflections are just waiting for me! lol
The trip out there is stunning! It’s on our NP list and am excited that the water levels are finally back up. We are hoping to get there next winter. How were the water levels? I fear them dropping again and not being able to go. What month were you there?
We visited in January and the water level was good enough to make the trip at least. Not sure how it will be next year but they keep the page updated for the boat trips that I linked in the description
Amazing! Was the tour expensive? I had never heard of the Rainbow Bridge. There is even more to the area than Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend! Those two are on my bucket list. Now I want to add this to that trip itinerary!
As always great information! What month were you there? My husband backpacked with his dad to Rainbow Bridge in 1968. After hiking 14 miles in the AZ heat, he was so bummed when he got there to see people getting off the boat and hiking up the trail wearing flip-flops! 😂
@@ThroughMyLens ok good to know. I always take bonine anyway to be safe. The ride looked smooth in the video but sometimes that can be deceiving. Having no wake areas does help
I was at Lake Powel with my own boat and made the run up to the Bridge. I was there on one of the few times, water was actually under the bridge. I swam under it and clearly remember looking up and watching it glide overhead while I was kicking and stroking while on my back. No cell phones in those days so no pics or vids. The water was deep enough to where I could have driven my boat under it, but the docks prevented boat access. Wouldn't have done that anyway. Not sure there were any restrictions in those days from going under the bridge. No signs and there was a Ranger nearby when I swam under it. Perhaps I got away with something but will never forget the experience. If I did do something I wasn't supposed to do, I apologize to the Native Americans. I evidently didn't anger the gods because no bad things happened. Perhaps they allow for stupidity! If there had been signs, I would not have swum there. Who knows, the signs may have been underwater!
Yea it was like $130-145. Something like that when we went. Def pricy but it was like an 7 hour trip and over 100 miles traveled via boat to this remote area so I didn’t think it was too bad for what we got
I’m glad Pops was the one that enjoyed the monument the most 🙌🏽😁
haha yep! 😂

It is to bad that you don't make 360 videos. This would have been stunning in 360. Great vid!
