Hi! Glad I found this, I just got accepted to M28 and am very much struggling to decide whether or not to go. It seems like I would learn the most there and I would love the community but I'm also worried about not being able to help take care of people here, the downsides of being a disabled person with less support, and (as a transfer student) the cost of two extra years. Videos like this are very helpful :) and it's cool to meet some other students/prospective students in the comments.
thanks for sharing!! i totally understand-it can be really hard to balance. BUT id pick minerva again in a heartbeat. i just realize it can be a lot and i think it’s good to know beforehand so you can expect it and prepare. good luck with everything you’ve got going on
Hey, I'm a UWC alum, and part of M28 (transfer)! I think most the problem boils down to switching countries every semester, and it seems Minerva has reduced the rotation cities to 4 or 5 in my batch. I hope it will solve a lot of problems and help us have a much more immersive experience in each city! Btw, thanks for the video! I've been following you since I started applying to UWC haha
Yeah it seems like for 3 of the 4 years you are in 1 city and then for 1 of them (I think 2nd year), you go to 2 cities (but it seems both in Asia so not that far).

the first point was the disappointing thing about the finances but thank you savanah for that video i am glad to know this things now bec i still have time to choose another university i am waiting for the uwc diccision now wish me luck and your videos helped me in my application a lot keep going

I’ve been watching your videos for almost 3 years (when I first found out ab UWC), and literally yesterday I got into UWCRBC as one of their 5 scholarships they give away (for those who fit in one of 3 categories: French, German and sustainability programs). and I’m so happy to watch how your life after UWC is going!
The phone number thing was so weird, I've been living and traveling in different countries, but I've always kept my Finnish phone number. It's of course cheap in the EU, but even when you're outside of the EU, you can still keep the number and maybe get a prepaid alongside it if you really need to use mobile data/make calls. But of course wifi is usually enough.
it definitely depends on the county you’re coming from! in the US and Canada it is so so expensive to get an international plan that i don’t bother. i have a US google voice number that i keep now but it only works on my computer and with wifi (which isn’t always reliable when you’re not expecting a call)
I've gotten into Minerva and am doing as much research as possible. Thanks for the video! Do you regret going? Do the positives outweigh the negatives? A video also going over the positives like you said would be really helpful!
I would make the decision to attend again in a heartbeat! I wouldn’t change my experience for a thing 😊 the positives are endless and my goal with this video is not to say Minerva isn’t worth attending but to simply consider all that comes along with it (keep in mind there are cons to all universities!) hi there! im also a minerva student so hopefully you'll accept my answer although im not savannah haha. I went to a traditional top university in my region before going to Minerva, and honestly, I feel SO much more connected with the Minerva community than my first uni. In a big uni with thousands of people, you make 1000 acquaintances. i only have 4 people i keep in touch with from there and many people struggle to even get a group of friends going. but in minerva, where the cohorts are around 150-200 people, you make 150-200 friends. i know everyone in my cohort's first name and home country and when people in my cohort find cool events they tell the whole cohort and we go in groups of like 20 people. and i feel comfortable dm-ing any of them if i need something. its really very wholesome and one of my fav parts about minerva :-))
Hey! I have a little question. In the video you told the classes of Minerva are online in general. Then whats the purpose of moving from country to country within such short periods of time? I totally get it would be fun and interesting to see new places. But it would also be cool to get more out of that educationally. And moving around the world often is not great for the environment.
Well it’s relative! Living 4 months in a city is quite a long time compared to how long people typically spend when travelling. Minerva encourage students to engage in local communities and really get to know the cities. That being said, future Minerva classes will visit fewer cities (4-5) and spend a whole year in a place. It’s a new university and there are constantly changes being made, but you make a good point.

interesting video. for the phone number issue, are you not allowed to use your personal phone as a backup and use your parents house for some registration?
depends on the circumstance but a lot of the time they need to reach you directly and/or you need a local phone number and so there’s no way for my parents to redirect the call to me especially with the time zone differences which complicates it all haha

I just learned about Minerva in a book. It appears so good in paper, and that Is why I look about it online. Thanks for your insight about Minerva.
