In the video: #1 Potatoes #2 Sweet Potatoes #3 Green Onions #4 Herbs #5 Lettuce #6 Ginger #7 Turmeric #8 Garlic I would add to the list: tomatoes. You can easily regrow tomatoes from cuttings (2 -4 inches/5 - 10cm long). Cuttings are also a good way to clone and overwinter your favorite tomato varieties. This way you can be sure to have the exact same plant next season, with seeds you never know what you get. Should the cuttings grow too much over winter, just make a new cutting and dispose of the first one.
I'm growing garlic for my wife for the first time. I accidentally uprooted one clove that I had planted just a few days earlier, after pouring a bucket of rain water onto the raised bed. The root system was already like the one you showed in the beginning of this video. 😁
Love it when Nature gives us another way to enjoy the bounty! Great video and helps keep that excitement for gardening alive as Mother Nature puts everything to sleep.
The ginger and Tumeric! I am going to do this! No matter how much I just sit and nod and agree with most of what you say because I either learned it well already or still trying, I am always blown away by new things I wanted to do but didn't think of it. I always learn something from you.
I was determined to grow garlic indoors. Did the refrigerator trick with the cloves. BUT run out of dedicated cloves for cooking & grocery order didn't have more. So....I ate the fridge cloves. Yes I will try again. Love your channel. Happy growing. 😊
Thanks Valja! For Ginger and Turmeric, they are tropical plants....if you live in a warm climate, start them at any time. If you live in an area that gets winter, start it early indoors about a month or more before you intend to plant. 🙂
Not to be a downer but store bought potatoes are sprayed with a sprout inhibitor. Use organic to get the best chance of sprouting. But in the end seed potatoes are your best bet.
Green onions 🌰 are so easy! All you need is barely the white base above the roots and of course the roots. To begin, Make sure you leave the growing bud intact. The rest you can eat. I grew mine in early summer and it resulted in beautiful white pearl dry onions later. From each stem I planted, came 3 or more bulbs. The second batch i planted in midsummer, round August 2023.. And hey!!@ they are still growing non stop. The bulbs in the ground didn't thicken much or split, however i have fresh supplies for scallions for months . We're in October. I live in a mild hot climate. If you want to teach kids , you can grow them even indoors under lights. Mm
I agree! I rooted green onions four years ago much like Jeff demonstrated in this video and they are still going strong in my garden here in Victoria, British Columbia. we harvest the tops year round. ~ Sandra
I am in zone 6a. My strawberries are planted in raised beds. We have not had a frost yet. I have four consecutive nights coming of below freezing in the 20s, then high 50s/low 60s in the day with 40° nights for the available long range forecast. Should I cover them with straw after the third night? What do you recomend doing with them during the warmer winter days?
Coconut coir sounds like a good idea for starting ginger and tumeric. I used soil last year and ended up with an infestation of fungus gnats! No fun at all.
Mosquito Bits work on fungus knats. I just add a tablespoon to 10x20 tray and add 1 1/2 quarts of water. The active ingredient is the BT bacteria. So you could just use BT.
Confusing, I know, but no, just because its self-pollinating, the resulting offspring are not clones nor genetically identical. With any pollination there's still a mix up of gene combinations and possible combinations. So while no NEW genetic material is created, the existing stuff is rearranged to different possible outcomes and expressions.
just for the record I would love to see your video. However with that said I personally ignore those videos that does premieres. Just post the video. My opinion only.

Perfect! That's what you want. The cloves essentially start root production the minute they hit the soil. It's quite amazing
just place it back into the dirt and pray ! 😊
