Lama Yeshe - Introductory talk to Naropa and the Six Yogas

An excerpt from the introduction to extensive teachings by Lama Yeshe on Lama Tsongkhapa's commentary on the Six Yogas of Naropa given at Vajrapani Institute in California in 1983. In this excerpt Lama talks about the great mahasiddha Naropa and how his life shows us how study alone is not enough. We must both study and practice the teachings under the guidance of a guru if we want to make real progress on the path. Lama also transmits the root text and describes Lama Tsongkhapa's nonsectarian approach to explaining these profound teachings.

Lama's teachings on the Six Yogas of Naropa have been published by Wisdom Publications as The Bliss of Inner Fire which combines two commentaries Lama gave on these practices, this one at Vajrapani Institute in 1983 and one at Istituto Lama Tzong Khapa in Italy in 1982-83.
