Saw the concept of coupling two four car sets used south from London well over ten years ago. Also used on sets from Wollongong to Central on occasions for some time....makes perfect sense.
We ran 4 car sets for many years across the Syd network, as a guard used to work red rattlers with two single deck driver control cars and two single or double deck trailers between which were frequently coupled into 8 car sets.
@ Yeah. Those V sets super comfortable. Didn’t feel sore at all even after almost three hours on it. The only other train I have been on where I don’t feel sore after an hour are the ex-G set Tangara and the Xplorer. I haven’t been on an XPT or a Mariyung yet, so I can’t comment about those.
From 31st December, the Up Suburban Line to Platforms 5-8 was renamed the Up Steam! The Down Suburban Line from Platforms 5-8 was renamed the Down Steam. This was to avoid confusion with the Up Suburban Line to Platform 16 and the Down Suburban Line from Platform 18. The tracks serving Platforms 9-14 are still known as the Bankstown Lines even though Bankstown trains haven't used them since 1926!
Hey there! Exciting times with the 3rd Mariyung Roster now in service! Can't wait to see how it changes the travel experience in Sydney. Have you had a chance to ride it yet?
Not for a little while as there’s still a bit to do to be able to run 6 and 10 car runs such as the Automatic Selective Door Operation for the shorter platforms. That’s why the D Sets that are in service now only run as 4 or 8 cars. Also they don’t stop at the short platforms yet and are only on the express runs.
Was toying with the idea of fetching one (at least to Hornsby to Epping or bewora) while working in Hornsby but time wasn’t kind to me…. Ahh well will be ending up in Hornsby (or Epping) quite a fair bit in my job life so maybe next time. Usually I work in northern beaches but will frequently end up in north shore or Hornsby Or maybe find a fart weekend if is does run a weekend sometimes soon
Thanks!
Thank you do much! :)
I hope you’ve been well
Love the channel. Im addicted to the Sydney trains voiceovers.

I just rode the d set yesterday IT WAS SO BEUTIFUL AND GOOD
I’m glad you liked them :)
going on a full trip to newcastle on these soon, can't wait
great video by the way👍
Interesting. I went to Newcastle for the day on the date this video was filmed. Went on a V set both ways.
Can’t go wrong with a good ol’ V Set! :)

This train I rode the other day for the first time!
Did you like the new train? :)
@@sydneytrainsvlogs yes it was good just sometimes it would rock
What set numbers are in service? I know D64, D53, D44 and now D 56, 57

Oh very interesting! Thank you for that info :)
Well!! A few vlogs back I said "that there might be a 3rd one on the rooster" seems like i was correct!! Thanks Phil!!
The Software for Automatic Selective Door Operation (ASDO) has not been updated from 8cars to 10cars.
Cheers for that info!
It’d also explain why they are on express runs only (not stopping at short platforms).

When will the d sets operate on the weekends, or is it just the h sets
Probably not until the middle of the year at this stage.
Until then it’ll just be H Sets
How many sets are getting modified a week cause i see a lot getting towed still
It’s only a matter of time until the eshays find this train
Do u know when the early Mariyung Sets will enter service like D2, D3 etc
I’m not too sure
They are modifying sets as we speak but I don’t know what order they are being modified in.
I filmed those 2 D sets on the 6th of January for my channel
Nice! :)
It starts(revenue service) as a 4 car all stops service to Gosford where another 4 cars join it to Central then as you said
Wish they come to the South Coast……………. We need d sets…
BEAUTIFUL LOOKING TR AIN .. but the problem with these new trains now is LESS SEATING.. how will they get by with big crowds..
Longer trains, they plan to configure the trains to 10 carriage 6+4 configuration to increase capacity
hey mate do you know when d sets are starting to run on weekends
7:25 - look forward to the 6 car sets and the minor differences compared to these 4 car ones
When will the 6 car sets be delivered to service?
This might be the one i saw at epping on wed 8 jan 2025😊
It could be :)
@ hopefully, that means one less d set and less that have to be tested, etc, etc
@ btw do you know how to add chapters to my vids?
Phil, when do you think 6 car D set will be in service?

Considering how late these things are they certainly are taking their time getting them into revenue service.
After mid February they will start ramping up the entry to service of these trains :)
Does 3rd mariyung roster mean the 3rd mariyung to enter service? Likle now theres 3 sets in service
By roster i mean 3rd V Set taken over by a D Set
@ oh ok thanks phil

When will the 6 car variants enter service if anyone knows
We need these NOW on the Blue Mountains line. This is torture! Do you know the ETA?
1-2 years
Won’t be any on mountains until at least towards the end of the year
The South coast will come in Feb-June and then the Blue Mountains will come at early 2026 ( i think)
@Aviation-w7w so they change it again doing south coast line first make sense
@@belchy94 yeah its weird how they changed it
Wollongong needs more trains including the Wollongong trackless tram around the city.
trackless tram is just a fancy bus underneath. It is not a tram or light rail.
And I was 56!
Nice! :)
When do you think they will start operation on the south coast?
I think around March or February possibly
@Aviation-w7wO REALLY!?!? YAY
@@SCOTransport yep :)
I wonder if any are going to take any Oscar runs yet?
Man, they are nice looking trains! Such a shame that they have sat in mothballs for so long!
Does anyone know when these trains service the Blue Mountains line?
I believe later on this year maybe towards the middle to the end of the year
Early 2026
Tray table I could eat
The tray tables are such a great idea! :)
Should just use the 6 cars as super 6's and run more frequency.
It’s better than v set
They are smoother but i’ll always have a soft spot for the V Set fleet :)
No way they're good trains but they are not better than the V sets
V sets - will always be the best
NIF'S - are awesome trains aswell
Oscars - are crappy 👎
V sets (2nd last silver sets) and K sets (Last silver sets) retire right now
